- Hi everyone! I'm back with a renovation update, whilst the up-stands are being fitted in the kitchen I'm upcycling the off cuts to create a bespoke furniture piece for the living room! Hope you enjoy :)

It's a good idea to seal new plaster with a PVA mixture with water to stop it drinking in the water from any other product you put on it.

It looks fabulous, what a great idea, looking forward to seeing it styled and in situ. Oh, where to start...had a company come out a few weeks ago to measure for one of those retractable outdoor canopies (is that what they're actually called?🤔) we chose the fabric etc and it's due to be fitted on the 8th, all we need now is a dry day!!😅 The bathroom reno begins later this month and would you believe that we now are waiting for one of the conservatory doors to be fixed (it's dropped and squeaks like hell) plus the glass has blown due to us constantly faffing and slamming it shut, THEN 3 other panes in the dining room have also blown🥴😂😂
Now THAT'S an upcycle Mr. C!! I can't wait to see it styled up... Happy Easter and Happy Spring everyone~🐰🌷🐥

Our home right now is noisy and like a building site. So far five weeks of work and on it goes but, a need. Making one large bedroom into two with an en-suite. Renewing everything, walls, floors, ceilings, even the floor joists. Almost finished. Using Carrera marble in the en-suite ,on walls, shower unit and part of the ceiling. Huge job but sourced much of the materials very cheaply and doing it ourselves has saved us a small fortune. 👍👍👍👍😁

I am moving into a new house and the kitchen needs 'doing' so I bought three mid century teak type office cabinets for ten euros for three ! Really well made and sturdy. Then recently I bought two huge sort of counters, all solid wood with hardwood tops and six solid doors, almost 4 metres and paid 40 euros for both, then a slab of white marble 110 x 50 cms that was on a coffee table for 50 euros. I am integrating a narrow solid chest of drawers that I paid 10 euros for. I did buy a new cooker hob which was 150 euros, vitroceramic for easy clean and am ordering a country type ceramic sink, 450 euros, so I think that all included I am about 1000 euros including tiles. A neigbour is exchaning his recent table top fridge for my taller one. I also wanted a plate rack with that dowel front so I ordered 100 18 mm ash dowels from Austria and will use every piece of my wood store to make it. The dowels were about 50 euros. The kitchen is 8 m 2 so every space counts but it does give onto a lovely courtyard where I can set up a table for summer dining. Can't wait to start. For my two little Jack Russells I made a beautiful dog kennel, covered in antique fabric with bronze nails, a side window and removable top with a mattress inside. I decorated the inside with images of furniture and painting glued inside the kennel and was so happy with the result. They NEVER used it, preferring any old cardboard box that I left around !

Yes, I would love to see this, too! I cannot for the life of me see it, but it sounds like quite the undertaking with a huge cost savings and an incredible finish!
And, the pictures inside sounds like it looks like a doll house. I can imagine that in my mind ... little widows with trees outside, a rug, table and chairs, a sofa ... all attached to the back to look like they are in the room. How clever!
I’m a messy painter and where I dropped a little paint on the floor before I could wipe it up my dog stepped in it. Had several paw prints I had to clean up. If you are going to leave the shelf empty for the cats to get in maybe put a cushion in there for them. I brought flat pads that say the material inside will reflect the cats heat creating warmth.
It's such a good feeling to have finished an up cycling/D I Y project! I love your bench-console-cat-hide away!!😊

Pumpkin n Mittens soo cute. Mr C bench looking really good. I would suggest if maybe adding legs from amazon if extra height needed for tv or kittens off the ground. Some really nice affordable wooden legs out there in all different heights. Imo ❤
The upcycled tv unit looks great. The kittens might like it with legs on it so they are elevated a bit and not directly on the floor.
I was thinking the same thing and it think it might look better a little bit higher anyway.

That TV stand turned out great. I thought at one point near the end of the vid, it looked like the Mr Carrington and pumpkin show, by the way pumpkin was looking at you and then outward. Twas very funny.😊

Lovely vlog. Love up cycling. You could put small legs on the unit to lift it off the floor. A blanket over foam or cushions for beds for the kittens.

The TV stand/shelf has come out so good! I love how mittens and pumpkin, are subtlety claiming the piece as their own, by being around it for the whole renovation. 😅 Cannot wait to see it dressed up. I love it. 👌🏾

Your kitchen is looking so good! I think your idea of using bead board (tongue and groove) for the kitchen walls will look fabulous; it will make your kitchen look so much brighter. Also, a shelf that runs the length of the walls will give you lots of room to display some of your cookbooks and lovely, thrifted decor.

I love my snug sofa. Sometimes I have to push one of the arms back down after use but very comfy.
The paint wash and wax was quite brilliant!!! Hope to try that! Your apprentice cat looked very professional! My two only want to help with the cooking. I basically have to banish them from the kitchen or its two floured kits who really should be black!!! Looking forward to the next kitchen installment!!

Thanks for the reno update. That will make a great TV stand. Kitchen is coming along great. You might want to paint a good primer on the fresh plastered walls first to cover any stains that might bleed through. In the US Kilz brand primer is good, Sadly on Amazon UK it is out of stock.

Try coloured acrylic gloss splashback we used white and it looks stunning you can get it cut to size
Work around the home is the garden when not raining! Discovered a great tip to remove the green algae from wooden fence prior to painting. One part bleach to two parts water, I put in on with a large sponge so super quick and amazing result, no need to rinse either. I use the dish mat for grandchildren's wet shoes by the door, saves the floor. Loved the paint wash on your cabinet, a great result. 😊

Love your videos Iwan, I too am looking for the perfect draining rack for my kitchen. Despite having a dishwasher, my manual dishwasher (hubby) won’t use it, hence the need for a new one. Our current one is gradually not fit for purpose 😢.

Loving everything. I would have added wood glue before you screwed the top on tv stand. Liquid nails or a silicone on the marble if permanent? Idk how heavy your tv is and with it becoming a cat bed underneath (which I love!), would be safer? Happy Easter 🐣 🐰

I wonder if you thought about maybe putting some small legs on the bottom of your little DIY cabinet so it takes it off the ground a little bit . Not too high just an inch or two . just a thought.
I am no carpenter but l think l would have been tempted to glue that joint rather than screw it. There is not much wood for the screw to grip to and risks splitting it. And you would avoid the screw heads showing. Maybe put a small batten underneath on the inside just to strengthen it?
