Hey Iwan, I’m a garden designer/landscaper, and looking at your space I believe that the best use of it would be to have a flat roofed garden ‘cupboard’. Then you could put plants on top to incorporate it more or even have a sedum green roof on top. Also maybe think of using a square planter for your olive. As it would use up less space.

Yeh it’s called a drip groove on the underside of the coping stones. Also try applying some brick sealer to the brickwork to stop water seeping through! Loved the video though! 😉
Olive trees love a pot, low maintenance, a quick trim in spring. I've had mine in a pot for 20 years. Change the soil and add compost once in a while. Lovely roof garden, very exciting.
Hi Iwan I love the tulips they look so real definitely don't cut them, the roof garden will look great we all have a few pots that need to b sorted with the bad weather it was impossible so I wou worry, awww pumpkin & mittens r so adorable, have a great weekend lots of love 💞💞💞
I feel like a shed would overwhelm the rooftop garden. I would either add more bench seating with hidden storage, or have something smaller, maybe next to the door, so when you look out onto your rooftop garden that your view is not obscured by a shed. Just my opinion.
Hi Iwan I have a sentry shed like a previous viewer said and yes it’s amazing what you can get inside one. They look attractive. I painted mine to look like a beach hut in blue and white stripes. Also would love to see the cats on the roof terrace but make it nice and secure for them. Loved the tulips 🌷🌞
For your roof garden, I have a small sentry shed, its only 26 inches wide and it's perfect for a small area. I think I got mine from Studio. Love your videos, always look forward to watching 😍
Ooh, love the idea of a roof garden shed! Yes, already received my signed copy of Dainty's new book, it's so pretty all the way through. The tulips look beautiful, please don't shorten their stems. I think they're what's known as Parrot Tulips. The plant 8:34 is a Sedum, I think. Clematis don't like sunlight on the base of the plant. I put two plant pot halves around mine, and they are very hungry plants too. A good feed will boost the flower production and growth. Remember this rhyme for clematis...if it flowers before June, no need to prune. There are 3 classes of clematis each with different pruning times, so it depends on the variety you have. ☺
Love those tulips, don't cut them! But keep an eye on them being in water, you might be better off buying some clear marbles to put in the bottom for a water effect because the wires in them might rust. Loved seeing the rooftop garden.

Why not have an Arched Wooden Garden Arbour seat storage bench with trellis sides. It will have multiple purposes: nice to look at, have storage for garden hand tools, hose etc and a very nice place to sit with a coffee or glass of wine on those lovely balmy summer evenings ❤🥂🍾. Would love to see how your new floors look. After you introduced us to the company and their samples, I ordered some, hence would like to see how they look in situ, it’ll give me a better idea of the end result. I think the first image of the kitchen has too many shelves and they don’t look like you could fit much on them but like the 3 shelves. It’s amazing what you can do now online. Hello Iwan I have missed seeing you due to a long trip from west coast of California to the Atlantic coast of Florida due to the passing of my 97 yr old mum. Died in peace at my brothers home . On her own terms… but now home and the thoughts come to mind. A really nice way to spend time is with you . Lovely roof garden this year🌺 the olive tree would look lovely in a square pot too. A garden shed would be nice if it does not block your favorite view or too large to take up your space. Love the shelves for the kitchen idea too. You will work it all out to suit your needs. I have a quite small garden and needed something to just store my garden tools etc. I bought a sentry shed it's the perfect size and I've seen them customised in so many different ways beach huts , wacky artwork etc. And they are small enough to move around when you want a change. I have Catherine's book it arrived last week and it's very hard to put down, I love her channel she is so down to earth and reminds me of my daughter so much. Big hugs to the kittens 😸 xx

The only thing i know about clematis is head in the sun and feet in the shade. Might be a good idea to cover the pot with maybe some stones with just a hole for the stalk to climb out

Clematis like to have moist, shady feet, but sunny tops. Make sure you’re pruning at the correct time as well (some are summer, some are autumn). Although saying that mine get neglected a bit and still flower if they feel like it!
Maybe a combo catio and small shed the entrance to your roof garden. Have the shed space off to the side so it would be more like a narrow closet to hang some tools and stack your empty pots and other items also. And then there would be space to have part of the garden area as a catio as well. I’d say keep both close to your garden entrance so you still have the far end more open.

Cat risers sound great for on the stair walls. Are you sure you want your shed front and centre like it was shown? If so it would be a great spot for decorative seasonal wreaths! I think I would prefer it in the corner by the door. Dainty’s book is beautiful!❤
I enjoyed your little roof paradise. I pictured a small awning over the door with attached shelves on either side facing each other, perhaps with shuttered covers. You have so many options for such a small area. Have fun!
Sometimes I think it works better when renovations move a bit slower, as it gives you more time to visualise the next steps and plan accordingly. We’ve renovated every surface of our 5 bedroom house (90% completed) and thought it would take 6-12 months. We’re now at the 2 year mark since we first started demolitions and have a whole bathroom, various finishing touches and our landscaping to go. We’ve lived on sire through the whole process (with 6 indoor cats) and did have a bit of renovation burnout about a year ago. It was then we decided to slow down and do things when we have the time rather than running ourselves ragged with early mornings, late nights and busy weekends. I’d love it to be all done, but we’re also busy running 2 businesses, managing my chronic health issues and enjoying family life. It’s all about finding the balance that works for your household!
Clematis like their roots cool and their 'heads' in the sun. I'd advise maybe a bigger pot and completely surround the pot with other pots to keep the sun from baking it, that should help, also if you could get some biggish stones to place around the clematis on the soil (might be a problemto source in London though🤔🤔) Hope that helps x❤🇮🇪
I like the idea of a small shed in the roof garden. However, with the size of the area, I would choose a “lean-to” style, which would be like if you sliced the image you have sliced in half vertically along the ridge of the roof. This wouldn’t impede upon your view or block any sun. You could have a small upright section on one side for a broom or even a hook on the door, and then shallow shelving/storage on the other with a pull out shelf for potting. I hope this makes sense! On the Clematis it depends what type it is. They can sulk when first planted. Give them a few years, not too much direct sun and a bit of a support to grow on.
I bought a Clematis a few yrs ago, it's still going strong, tends to look a bit dried & dishevelled in winter but still alive, it was just 1 stem but has branched off into 2 (had it about 4yrs). I'm going to get a bit of a frame for it to climb on but other than that I just let it do its own thing in the corner of my garden, seems to get on OK....wouldnt say its a fast grower tho.
Hi Mr C the roof garden is looking well I always plant nasturtiums I get packets from Poundland they are big seeds and are hardy they grow so fast and beautiful,and after flowering their seeds are collectible for next year I highly recommend them,I love a nice coffee I vote for little wall steps for Mittens and Pumpkins 😊
We are on a par yet again. Recently having my dad's olive tree, in my garden, and having our shed almost finished.. going to be painted blue. The cats are checking it out, and looking on...both very curious.

Loved the Ai programme, but would not put a shed or anything else large on the roof garden... I think keep it for entertaining and relaxing. Its a grate spot to have. Any tools ect in a storage bench.
Home bargains have small obelisks you could get to your clematis to grow up if you wind their firefly wire solar light around the cone shape it looks like a mini Christmas tree I have them scattered around my garden. I liked the look of the shed when you mentioned it before I thought you meant the tall ones that are about 18" - 2'.

I would create a catio so the kittens can also enjoy the outdoors in a safe way. The shed is a great idea, it will sure make it look cozy and tidy.

We catified our house with wooden boxes/crates screwed into the walls, the cats loved it.

On the Clematis it depends what type it is. They can sulk when first planted. Give them a few years, not too much direct sun and a bit of a support to grow on.

I bought a Clematis a few yrs ago, it's still going strong, tends to look a bit dried & dishevelled in winter but still alive, it was just 1 stem but has branched off into 2 (had it about 4yrs). I'm going to get a bit of a frame for it to climb on but other than that I just let it do its own thing in the corner of my garden, seems to get on OK....wouldnt say its a fast grower tho.
Hi Mr C the roof garden is looking well I always plant nasturtiums I get packets from Poundland they are big seeds and are hardy they grow so fast and beautiful,and after flowering their seeds are collectible for next year I highly recommend them,I love a nice coffee I vote for little wall steps for Mittens and Pumpkins 😊

We are on a par yet again. Recently having my dad's olive tree, in my garden, and having our shed almost finished.. going to be painted blue. The cats are checking it out, and looking on...both very curious.
The plant with the dried stems is a Sedum Autumn Joy. Bees and butterflies love them.

Not a fan of shed on the roof,how about storage under seating?
Loved the Ai programme, but would not put a shed or anything else large on the roof garden... I think keep it for entertaining and relaxing. Its a grate spot to have. Any tools ect in a storage bench.
Home bargains have small obelisks you could get to your clematis to grow up if you wind their firefly wire solar light around the cone shape it looks like a mini Christmas tree I have them scattered around my garden. I liked the look of the shed when you mentioned it before I thought you meant the tall ones that are about 18" - 2'.
The Clemetis needs its roots in the shade and a deeper pot.
Wow those tulips looked so real. Beautyfull. This vlog was too short I just get along and it was already finish. I don't know about that shed can you just build it? Do you need some permission from neabors and from somewhere else to do it?
