I had ED for so long. Played it a little bit but couldn’t get into it. Picked it up again a few weeks back and can’t stop! Odyssey and Bio exploration is what I was missing
It's been a good year much needed changes and updates to the game. Feeling very positive for 2025 and the brand new feature! the engineering rework is good and what engineers should have been. All powerplay rewards being available for every faction is again a great move by Fdev.
I sincerely would have participated in the defense of ShinDez, but I've actually been enjoying the BGS recently. I made it a personal project to flip a system for giggles. It took two weeks, but I managed to do it!
I knew i was doing good work when I saw fleet carriers suddenly appear in system when I took the lead.
For me, that was an adventure.
I cant wait to see what Power Play 2 will do to enhance this political intrigue. I know im mostly an explorer but theres a lot in the bubble I've neglected.
I dunno, I still think then mentioning how well the Mandalay controls in atmosphere sound suspicious.
So far we've had one ship for combat, one for cargo runs and soon to get one for exploration. So what's left? I predict ship no. four will be purpose built for . . . passenger transport! A shiny new passenger liner and yes, it will be in the top 1% of all passenger liners out there!
Perhaps a specialized Guardian Hybrid ship? We got the SLF's and that it's for hybrid ships. Effectively a specialized AX ship, perhaps bonuses to using hybrid modules on this ship, or a Guardian engineer granting us access to engineered Guardian weapons outside the double engineered weapons. Imagine how much armor we could shove into a ship when we can engineer Guardian Armor modules.
So far we've had a Faulcon DeLacy ship, a Lakon, and an upcoming Zorgon Peterson. That would leave Saud Kruger as the last independent, non-rank grind shipbuilder, which would say passenger hauler to me. I'm hoping for a return of the Moray Starboat!
I really hope more players return, as I did. It's so much fun playing now, with the worst of the engineering grind removed!
Personally I'm waiting for all updates (and updates for the updates) this year done and completed, and then I'll start playing again. But I'm gobbling up all the info I can :P

The point I want to find out more about is the "power police" mentioned in unlocked. Getting attacked in every system i go to in the bubble that isnt aligned with Aisling, will make me un-pledge and not bother with it again. I like combat when I want it, i dont want to get jumped by NPCs in my slow, unarmed, T9 everywhere I go.
This is my worry too. What happens if there is a lucrative trade CG right in the middle of an enemy powers controlled area? Fighting off the 'PoPo' (Power Police) as well as fighting off pirates and gankers, will not make the CG very much fun.
I would imagine they have an internal "wanted" level they use. So, if you are just passing thru, no big deal, but... if you are actively murdering and doing PP stuff, then they will have a hit squad for you. That's what I would like to see.

I don't mind chasing the thargoids All over the Galaxy as long as we will eventually find their Hive where it could be infiltrated. I want to see those three-tier battles.. on foot, in srvs and aerial. That would make for some really awesome gameplay on some alien planet far into the black.
Hopefully, the "Power Police" will give balance to solo and group power play activity. They will help take the place of real opposition that players must face when in open. Let's just see how strong they make them.
The colonia pictures was probably made to see what reaction they would get if colonia was hit by the violent veggies
New feature guesses:
- Ship interiors. Not happening but I couldn’t omit this guess.
- Thargoid zombie humans in settlement combat. Likely given the story, but it’s not “completely new”.
- Base building. On foot mats and other things have led this to being suspected.

when they implement such mechanics, i don't want it trivialized by low pricing. they need to mean something. bases are important, expensive and should be taken seriously.

I don't do Thargoid combat, but when I heard that I couldn't go to Jameson Memorial, I updated my AX ship and helped. Top 25% is nice.

@@ysfsim It wasn't hard tbh. Modified shard cannons with 3 other friends in space. Granted, I did die a decent amount but the credits from killing Goids made up for it.
New feature surely has to be something big. I'm expecting base building. It's been leaked before, rumours of hints in the game files. Makes sense to me, can't wait for it.

Trouble brewin in Colonia, the question is, will it be before or after Titan #8? A new Titan smask in the middle of the Colonia highway perhaps?
On the other hand, the galaxy i huge and perhaps, as we _did_ take care of the Titans, Colonia _should_ be safe.
We won't see 7000 CMDRs running to Colonia to fight off the Thargoids if that happens.

I can see the larger AX groups putting together and publicizing a fleet of fleet carriers to taxi anyone who wants to go fight the goids around Colonia. Not 7 or 8 thousand, but a large number of commanders would go

Long range exploration is the best feature in the game if you have high quality VR. The immersion is hypnotizing. Even if you have no particular business on the planet. I very much look forward to a more capable exploration ship.
didnt get to play elite till wednesday (due to playing wartales) and got on as the system had been saved, cant believe i missed the attack on shinrarta and the rewards, looking forward to an update to the powerplay its been a long while since i gave any thought to any of the powers to be honest once youve got your cutter and corvette thats about it isnt it

My money remains on the new feature being base building, although I'd prefer more planets to land on and maybe fauna. I'd love to get water worlds (and things like ammonia worlds with liquid surfaces etc) for example with an SRV capable of submersible/amphibious gameplay
i don't think we will get base building just yet
when implemented, they need to be on the order of magnitude greater in complexity and expense then carriers are from, lets say, medium ships

if they let us land on 30kpa (0.3 earth atmosphere) we will be golden
that would mean way more diversity for exobio to the point we may encounter some smaller animals and proper shrubs, grass terrain or even flying fauna
i can totally imagine some electrified, gassy flying medusa in a noble gas atmosphere of, lets say 20kpa with 0.2g
@sakatababa while I certainly wouldn't mind your suggestion, my reasoning is FDEV's financial situation and their need to boost income. Their forte is theme parks, which is essentially base building. Couple that with base infrastructure already in-game and it becomes a quicker win than other things. Plus they've said it involves new gameplay not seen before in the game. If I were in FDEV's position I'd be adding something that can already use existing assets to reduce the investment required to just what's needed to flesh it out, plus base building provides arguably more opportunity for items to monetise in the arx store, like decorations. That said, I'd LOVE more planets to land on and things like fauna and more flora to discover.

i feel the state of the game is just not ready for base building yet. maybe after some time with pp 2.0 but not right now.

@@RaifalM3n just repledge and climb the new rank, should be more fun that hauling 752 pirate flags or oneshotting pp NPC for hours. All modules available is a good carrot-on-stick.
I am so excited about the new feature, but I wish so hard that they finally get back to optimising VR. I can rarely play Elite without VR after I started it. The experience is just something else. But the poor performance in Stations and the very disappointing "On Foot Screen" are just a pain. Really hope they will give some love to VR in the coming months.
Hear hear! I do play in flat sometimes if I'm mostly doing menu stuff like working on a ship, but for fighting and exploring VR is soooo much more fun. But my GPU is several generations behind, and like you said, the performance in stations is really bad

I hope that we can get base building. Some want ship interiors but if you can't do something really extrordinary in the ship, It would just be cosmetic. Or perhapss an expansion of xenobiology like some fauna coupled with breathable atmospheres. Powerplay never was my thing before. I will withold judgement untill I see it first hand. We have enough political drama in our real lives, thank you. Nice video as always. ❤🤍💙
It’s for overall immersion. Teleporting in and out of the ship completely takes you out of the game and interiors would fix that.
I have tried to dock at Jameson Memorial yesterday and there was nothing. I couldn't even ask for landing permission.
Does anyone have some infos about Fleet Carrier up-keep costs ? It seems to have almost doubled ! WTF !
Regarding fleet carrier my weekly costs are broken too. It is now my third week in a row I haven't been charged. It says weekly cost is now 66 Mio. So it seems broken for some other folk on the forum as well. Nothing to worry about.

The "New feautre" is of course a welcomed stuff (if it's not completely bust or something stupid), but I'd LOVE to have a market system redoed, I just don't want to use inara or other web services to do what SHOULD BE IN THE GAME.
Other think I'd love to see for ED, I have a feeling "Odyssey" and "Elite" are two different games in one universe. Why shouldn't I shoot an iron boulder on the planet and have Iron, for example?
I swear to god I just hauled my ass from colonia to beagle to the bubble in a WEEK just because the 'goids attacked shindez JUST TO MISS THE INITIATIVE. If I have to drive out to the nebula one more time this month I'm going to lose it.
Hearing about the attack brought me back. I couldn't fight much, a couple of the small Thargoid's to get on the board but the Interceptors were beyond me. So I got Civ's off and made a decent penny. With that I got the money needed to make a proper AX Ship which I'm currently in the process of Engineering. Hopefully by the end of the day I'll have killed my first Thargoid Interceptor.
Looking into the descriptions released, it seems like Powerplay will be a human-centric version of the Thargoid war:
- Systems have a progress toward one faction or another
- Actions in those systems (missions, rescues, trading, combat, etc...) performed by faction members push that bar one way or another
- Rewards include materials and reputation with the chosen faction
- Reputation with the chosen faction gives access to the special modules...in different orders depending on the faction
- Megaships for each faction are like the new Titans where players can hack or attack them in order to weaken hold on affected systems or even fully destroy them to revoke a sphere of influence (but not the entire faction)
The biggest difference here would be that players are pushing progress against one another rather than against a common enemy.
It seems that, like the Thargoid war, these things can be done in solo but group activities are more effective per time spent.
I imagine that large fights between fleets of faction-aligned commanders would have quite an effect on that system's progress.
I also imagine that, like the Titans, taking a megaship fleet down would require a concerted effort by a large number of players over time
We'll see what it really becomes...
I am a Colonia resident. Indeed, I have noticed over the last week: 1 A greyed out Thargoid mission box on the Missions board, and 2 'Thargoids are a threat, stay vigilant' announcements on the overhead speaker, at both Colonia and Ratraii Starports. I believe that they are coming!

New power play could actually see me return, the war was way above my abilities to participate in, it quite literally had a barrier to entry for the most part.
Powerplay was something I was interested in, but often the gameplay was a little lacking. If they’ve fixed that then at least there’s something engaging to do again.
Frontier adds more and more substance to the game, new ships, Powerplay 2.0 and a new feature for the end of this year. Top notch!
The Powerplay changes seem interesting, I might even be tempted to stop ignoring it's existence lol. I hope they reveal details of the final new ship at the same time, I'm more excited about that than the new feature TBH.
All things considered with the Thargoids, I would definitely say to expect the unexpected from them. They're pretty much wildcards, completely unpredictable. Having said all that I wonder how long until they take a shot at Sol.
Next CG will be to rebuild JM. All participants should get 50% off everything for a week or two, plus a few modules. This includes non-elite ranked pilots that help.
I wonder if the Thargoids might dispatch a Titan or two towards Colonia. Maybe they even upgraded their hyperdrive system for these beasts...

If they want people to believe in this franchise again, this is the perfect time to prove it with ship interiors and atmospheric planets. I don't think they'll get another chance in the future.

@@cmdrandreyuenari4150 It shouldn't be a huge effort, we're not in 2010 anymore, we're almost in 2025!... It's been 15 years and even a modding enthusiast could do it. Doing something different, other than atmospheric planets and ship interiors would be an insult to the Elite community that has been asking for these things for many years. Frontier is not in a position to make more mistakes. There are always some players who come back to test if some new feature or ship is worth it. But as long as it keeps having the same old thing, that will only be temporary and it will never get out of the same hole it got itself into.

I won't be back in the game intil they rework massive grind this game requires. But those changes described that happen this year are step in the right direction.
They already made the "grind" so much easier. It's already too easy to uprade your on foot gear to grade 5.

I'm really glad that this game has continued to evolve over the years, but I have a very difficult time justifying returning to it..
I unlocked most of the content, I killed a countless number pirates, I transported innumerable quantities of items between different sectors, and got all of the custom unlocks from each political faction. I even engineered almost every piece of equipment on my ships, only lacking those that would require me to travel to the most distant colonies. What else is there to do? It feels as though it's mostly just a grind at this point, and I don't know what it could offer to make me return, but I feel like it would need to be something that makes me more personally invested.
You should try your hand at BGS and Powerplay (wait for Powerplay 2.0 if you do that though)

I've avoided Powerplay like the plague because I value my freedom. I sincerely hope that Powerplay 2.0 will allow me to continue doing just that. I'm not a fan of politics in the real world, too many stupids involved. I really don't want to get dragged into politics in a game I enjoy as down-time.
That said, I kinda hope some version of base building comes to the game. What I would like to see is a system like a fleet carrier, where you plunk down your credits for a starter base and have a go at making it profitable. If you do, you attract more "people" (NPCs) and industries to build your tax base for expansion. I think that the idea of a kind of city-builder mechanic would be fun for some players and give me a lot of interesting places to visit as I roam around the Deep Black, far from the beaten paths around The Bubble, or the Colonia Highway.
I've a feeling that will be the new feature. I hope it slows colonising new systems
I fought with the Thargoids. I, like a good few, did our best efforts do help out galactic friends. We will continue to fight for the rights of Thargoids.

I went to Colonia to get away from all this Thargoid crap a year ago. Why are they so hell bent on turning this into a combat game? I just want to trade, mine, and explore in peace.
I wouldn't say that adjusting the amounts of materials is an "overhaul". It's still the same system, just with adjusted numbers. Other than that, nice coverage as always Buur.
They will surprise us with on foot vr. It actually works right now activating 3rd person, but with the lack of any interacting.
Don't think so. FDev has a history of implementing "features" nobody asked for and ignoring community feature requests for years. Keep your expectations in check and you won't be disappointed.
Great broadcast as always, Commander Buur! The attack on Shinrarta Dezhra really showcased how united the community can be when it matters most. It’s amazing to see the Thargoid War system in action on such a large scale.
That said, I have a question about something you mentioned earlier. After the attack on Shinrarta and the growing tension surrounding Colonia, how could Frontier have been doing financially bad right after COVID-19? From what I’ve gathered (correct me if I’m wrong), most gaming companies actually benefited during the pandemic, as people had more time for gaming. So what exactly went wrong here?
Also, I loved your comment about “features.” Haha, reminds me of games like Arma, where ‘features’ are really just bugs they never fixed! Sarcasm aside, I can’t help but wonder how Frontier will keep us hooked with the upcoming feature reveal on the 30th of October. What’s your take on that?

@@goodboi6540 Console users can still play the game, that hasnt changed. Frontier needed to change and sadly the costs and trouble with porting and releasing console updates is a royal pain for a lot of companies. Console users can play Odyssey by using GeForceNow, I know a lot of people do that already and hang out with people on pc.
Hm, to be honest I don't know what it will take to get me to play ED again, but unfortunately all this isn't it.

I'm praying to God it's ship interiors. That would complete this game especially if you can hire visible interactable crewmembers. That would be phenomenal.
Sadly I doubt it. I think it will be base building. Hopefully linked to Power Play, BGS and expanding human colonization into uncolonized systems.
