      unfortunately the clutch system is STILL an issue in that it doesn't fully release at high rpm, so you basically end up forcing the car into a gear without clutching and no shift forks can handle that force.

      Hey man, own a 2016 GT performance pack. I think your review was very fair.
      I had a few comments about the car being a driver's car.
      1. Lets step back 15 years ago, what would a car with 435hp, NA V8, 6 speed manual with 19" wheels, irs etc. A car like that would most likely be a BMW M5 or M3. how much would that cost you? And what would that car be like to own? Now compare that to the s550.
      What ford has done is taken something really high performance and some how made it both accessible and reliable and realitively cheap to maintain. Theyve taken all the great things from Europe and left out alot of the bad.
      2. Yes you are right its not a "drivers" car, yes ford could have done aluminium suspension bits, but as an owner I really REALLY appreciate that they didn't. My car is 3 years old has hit several curves, potholes, jumped trainlines, yet i can totally hit a race track with it right noww or go on a 16 hour road trip... Everything still feels as good as new. With a BMW you have to replace the entire suspension once per year... So yes if i have to sacrifice some driving feel to get that i really really don't mind that trade off...
      3. The aftermarket support for these cars is insane, you CAN make them a 7 sec drag machine. A road racing beast, a corner carved, a reliable daily, a show car anything you want... Budget isnt even as much of a factor because of the availabilty of used performance parts.
      And the fact that Ford Performance makes pretty much every performance part out there the aftermarket has to out perform them in cost and quality to compete and that's just a win for the consumers.
      So i agree they arent perfect but perfection is relative and overrated. For what they are they are very good as you said in your conclusion.

      @@pballer2005 a big part of the problem is people keep changing the clutch assist spring... Ford specifically installed that heavy spring to solve the ossue that came up on the early s197 of the clutch pedal not returning at high rpm shifts.
      The flaw with the high rpm lockout is misdiagnosed as a clutch or transmission issue... In reality it's largely a combination of several issues, that Ford's learning how to solve. The hydraulic throw out bearing for example is one part of the problem. at high RPMS the clutch is acting like a giant vacuum cleaner, due to the small size of the bell housing. Which ford needed for packaging. And pulling on the throw out bearing. When you press the clutch you arent generating enough pressure to fully disengage the clutch.
      I'm not sure if a redesigned bell housing to vent some of that pressure would help solve that issue. Or going back to a traditional fork and throw out bearing...
      I think the stock clutch is actually a great clutch it's the supporting hard ware that still needs a few years of r&d to refine...

    • @3star2nr
      @3star2nr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      @@pballer2005 and when u stack up these cars to a porsche Ferrari, BMW etc, I'll take lockout any day of the week over the bullshit those cars come with...
      Like replacing clutches every 20k miles, replacing trannies every 40k... Full suspension and brake replacement every 12k miles. New battery every year...

    As a detailer for Ford, I can assure you the quality of the paint on the bullit is enough to justify the cost. It is leaps and bounds ahead of every other mustang in terms of paint. If you don’t like the colour that’s one thing but the actually quality in terms of finish is far superior. All ford paint kinda sucks but the depth of this Bullit paint is incredible.

    I’m definitely a “fanboy” (see profile pic). But I feel like you guys are 90-95% spot on. For me, it’s my daily driver, road trip car, occasional track car etc etc. There are not many cars who can do all of those things while doing them as well as the S550... and it puts a smile on my face every day. Mustang fans are used to “forgiving” Ford for the odd quality issue or panel gap - considering how much they improve the car with each generation. As far as the Bullitt vs GT - if you’re getting a loaded PP1 GT, spend the extra 5-800 for the Bullitt because it gives you some cool aesthetic details and 20 more hp. ...if not, go with the absolute base model GT, save 10-15k and modify it to your liking. Side note, GT350 is great if you’re going to track the car... if not, go with a loaded GT or Bullitt, they’re more comfortable, have more tech and they’re actually faster in the lower RPM range where most of us do our daily driving. End rant.

Pushing the start button every day is pure excitement! Love this car. Cool understated car. The BEST Mustang EVER. Of course it’s all subjective and like art it’s all in the eye of the beholder. Some see people see gaps others just see that dark highland green and dark black leather interior with the white Q ball shifter.

    As an owner of a 2019 PP1 car, I'd say you'd have enjoyed this sort of car more.
    To those considering a new Mustang, you must have the correct expectations, or you'll be disappointed.
    These are Grand Touring cars, hence the GT badge. This is the car to drive from NY to LA with space, grace and pace. It's meant for two people and their luggage to cruise the freeway at speed, in quiet, comfort, with stability and a planted to the road feel. The interior is great, with great outward visibility, a huge trunk, a decent SYNC3 system that works pretty well.
    You MUST get either the PP1 or PP2 packages, and the Magneride. Also get the Active Exhaust, it's worth the money.
    It's not a car for the drag-strip, it's not a car for a road-course, it's for the street, for day-to-day driving, at speed and in comfort.

    • @rembo183
      @rembo183 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      glock22357 - I agree 100%. It is a street car which is a blast to drive. It’s awesome sounding and fast. Handles great with Magneride! Overall it’s not like the GT350 which is much better on the track or a GT500 drag strip car. I love driving mine around town and it’s very comfortable on trips. Best fun to drive street car from Ford!

      My brother has the Continental GT, and I know it sounds insane, but they are competition with each other. The end result is NOT the same, but no other high-end manufacturer makes a GT car that is quite as enjoyable or as reliable as this Mustang. Yes, swallow your comments for a minute, if you look at the Aston Vantage, the Ferrari Roma, the Lamborghini Huracan, the Jaguar F-Type…this Mustang will go 200,000 without pulling the engine, and none of those cars would even come close. You WILL be without your car for a month every year or two, and every 10,000 miles on the clock means MASSIVE depreciation and increased maintenance. Considering the alternatives, the Continental GT and the higher trim S550 Mustang are your best bets. Buy the Mustang in it’s most premium interior and the PP1, and pay a good body shop $10,000 to refine the fit and finish.

    As a boomer and a motorhead since childhood, I remember Steve McQueen well -- he was my favorite actor and a pro-level racer of cars and dirt bikes. I saw the movie Bullitt when it first came out and have seen it at least a dozen times since, as well as watching the car chase at least 40 times. I loved McQueen's Highland Green 390 Mustang GT as portrayed in the movie.
    To their credit, Ford exercised restraint and good taste in their design of the limited-edition Bullitt model. I think it is the most beautiful current-generation Mustang. While its price premium above a well-optioned GT cannot be justified mechanically, to guys like me whose formative years were influenced by the movie, the magic of owning one of these would be worth the extra dollars. And even to many younger motorheads, this car has a gut-level appeal. It is simultaneously beautiful and bad-ass and the competition has nothing to match it, image-wise.
    Compared with a sophisticated European driver's car like an Alfa Giulia, this Mustang is a sledgehammer. There is nothing subtle about it: the steering has no feel, the transmission is balky, the chassis does not communicate which end of the car is working. This is an American sports car and its driver has to show it who's boss. Finesse is not asked for or rewarded by this car, but if you are man enough, and skilled enough, you can make it fly. Its high-revving V8 is glorious in both its performance and its sound. In a very American way, the Bullitt IS a driver's car. Were I shopping for a pony car, I would probably buy this over the GT350, whose additional power and complexity I would not miss.

My only beef would be the comment about "staying away from the Bullitt and just getting a similar equipped GT and save 7k". The difference between a identically equipped GT and a Bullitt is about 500 bucks. Which is also the upcharge Ford does on its metallic paints like this and Ruby Red. Yep! Not perfect but damn good! Biggest bang for the buck out there in performance for the dollar. That’s why there are so many Mustangs! More sold then any other sports car. You can get better build quality and better performance if you spend more but that depends on your budget or wallet! I own a Bullitt and absolutely LOVE IT. Huge fun factor. Great sound and great power. Comfortable and exciting to drive. Great feel. Great looking car. Beats the Eurocars by thousands of dollars. But you’re right there plastic and maybe some gaps. I don’t care at all! I couldn’t see spending $15k more for a Cayman that is less comfortable and will be very expensive to live with.

    Having come from an E90, driven friends’ M2s and 718s, the mustang is a special blend of cost, speed, handling and most importantly fun. Not sure if it’s a Bullitt issue, but my PP1 mustang turns in quickly, sharply and accurately (though with typical E steering numbness, still better than the M2) and has the typical FR balance.
    The Camaro is definitely a better handling car, but it’s more a polish thing than a potential thing, and the difference isn’t nearly enough to offset its obvious foibles as a daily driver.
    For the $38k OTD I paid for my PP1 GT (with mechanical gauges), hard to beat. The biggest praise: when I drove my buddy’s 718, I wasn’t blown away by its handling. Sure, it was better, but the mustang was close enough for half the cost that I’m fine with it.

      @@twiincentral8780 Suspension is better overall for grip. Steering isn’t E90 communicative, but eagerness to turn in and front end grip more than makes up for it.
      Tightness is similar. Suspension is definitely former
      Interior quality is Ford all the way. It’s fine, but no BMW. Not much worse than an M2 or FXX.
      V8 is smooth as butter.
      Shift feel is better than even the M2, but the transmission clunks a little.

      Maybe they should put a requirement on buying the cars that you’ve got to own more than 1 dirtbike before you’re allowed to buy the BULLITT car.
      It also says that YOURE ALREADY A FAMOUS PERSON and you don’t want a famous imaginary to your car. You don’t want to show off a car on TH-cam, for example.
      If you’re even considering buying a GT 350, you shouldn’t be ANYWHERE NEAR a BULLITT product.
      If you have a BULLITT car then a GT 350 DOESN’T exist.

    First, you guys are the best. Very well done. I had a 2017GT350 with Recaro Seats. After reading the comments on GT350 engine failures and discussing with my
    dealer, I decided to move on to a Bullitt. Even though I had the extended warranty. I got allocated a GT500, but decided to pass on it. I am coming from 911 and Turbo's. I loved the GT350, my only complaint was comfort on long drives, due to the Recaro seats. I also had the 2016 Mustang GT 50th Anniversary edition, which was most comfortable car ever. I had a Borla Exhaust, Barton Shifter. The stock leather seats in the Bullitt are great. All these cars are great. Yes, the GT350 was a hard edged sports car, great for the track. Bullitt was $50K ish, a lot of car for 50K, plus grew up on the movie Bullitt!

    I bought a 19 Bullitt and I agree with everything in this video - both the good and the bad. Nailed it. I had my heart set on the PP2 but during the test drive it was clear that the car (any non GT 350 mustang) was just too big and heavy with almost no steering feel which prevented it from being the most engaging drivers car. Knowing this and not wanting to shell out $$ for the 350 I found the Bullitt to be a great GT car compromise that looks more unique than a regular GT plus adds a bit more power and has a huge "fun" factor. I found one relatively cheap and it's been great so far. I did keep my 13 Focus ST for fun on the really twisty stuff instead of trading it in though :)

    • @5abivt
      @5abivt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      slunasaurusrex i agree video was spot on about everything 👌 in the end all the quality issues panel gaps trunk lid gaps and deformities , door gaps and window trim misalignments, the price, and .. crap I’ll stop.. later.. the engine knocking like a diesel was the final straw and I got rid of it 😥

    • @slunasaurusrex
      @slunasaurusrex 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@5abivt I haven't had knocking so fingers crossed on that one. Was yours a 19? I was hoping the second year might have resolved the infamous tick. The interior and exterior fit and panel gaps is definitely atrocious. My 2013 Focus was built better. That being said so far the drivetrain on the car feels very solid so hopefully it holds up.

    • @5abivt
      @5abivt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      slunasaurusrex yes mine was a 19. I hoped like you a later number and model year resolved it. I passed on 5 other bullits with lower production numbers. I tried to do everything I could to prevent it. I changed the oil when I got home from the dealership at 25 miles. Then at 150, 300 and 500. To me $80 per oil change is nothing in light of the cost of the car and the money I was about to spend to mod it (magnaride delete, coil overs, full exhaust, lowering, 3pc forged wheels etc etc). But it wasn’t enough.
      I hope yours doesn’t get it. It’s a fun car. My son cried lol because he loved my modified 15 GT I had and liked the bullitt. I do miss the rumble. I ended up trading for a used 16 BMW M4. Completely different car and I wouldn’t even compare them. But my kids are bigger now and they really make use of the extra room plus I’ve always been a fan of M cars having had an 03 M3 for 4 years several years back. I still have my 2 corvettes so I’ll never be losing the V8 rumble 😉. One is a 620 hp 8500 rpm solid roller stroker and the other the lotus dohc V8 in the zr-1

    A little inside info on why the brakes are so good on the track. Alot of cars experience fade at the track because the rotor actually flexes on corners pushing the pads away, not due to overheating. The mustang has been programmed to activate the booster moving the pads back into position when it senses g-force above a certain threshold.

    This is one of the best and most honest car reviews I’ve ever seen. I’ve always wanted a newer Coyote Mustang, and the Bullitt seemed like a classic style from an era and movie that was so cool, and UNDERSTATED. I’ve been interested and looked at several GT350’s, and they all have a rear wing that looks ridiculous and unnecessary, and scream “look at me, I’m in a special mustang”. I get the history, and the 65 GT that Jay Leno has is insane, but what happened to having a crazy fast muscle car that was a “sleeper”? My only beef with Ford is why they charge the $7k premium for much of what amounts to styling and not actual performance upgrades on the Bullitt. I’m not sure if this trim level is a big seller, but in my area there are a few of these at most Ford Dealers and many of them are still 2019’s that the shipping stickers are so old they’re faded, just discount the dam things and make me a deal, in this crazy economy and pandemic we’re in they should be giving them away, or at least making deals to move them. The packages on these cars confuse me, Id like to have a fully loaded GT with all the suspension and performance upgrades that the Bullitt has, and the little extra horsepower, is there such a package or trim level on the 5.0 GT?? If so, what is it? Any responses would be appreciated, I’m trying to get a 2019 on a deal, and since when has Ford gotten so unwilling to make deals on their cars and trucks? It almost turns me off completely to the brand, and I used to be a Ford guy for many years, now it almost feels like they think their to good for the working man, and the dealer experience in my area sucks. Sorry for the negative comments about Ford, I’ve wanted a Mustang for a long time, and frankly as much as I want one, and want to support the American economy right now, I’m not going to overpay for what amounts to a supped up rental car as they put it. For you Mustang die-hards, I’m not insulting the car, I’ve never wanted a particular engine more then the newest 5.0 Coyote, with the right exhaust it’s the best sounding and revving engine I’ve ever heard, it’s no joke...

I've given the car many of hot suppers and even put it into limp mode which the dealer took care of very quickly. As a daily driver, it performed better than expected in the rain and snow. The aftermarket parts selection makes it easy to get carried away. Overall, the performance and the low cost of maintenance makes this car a good deal.

      Fisher Ohvf-men - Feel good because you’ve got a really great car! This video is way too negative and overly picky! He’s a perfectionist I guess and wants a high end car like a Porsche or BNW. But he probably wants a low price too! You’ve got a lot of bang for the buck in my opinion plus it’s got a warranty. A used Porsche or BMW is nice to look at and drive but have reliability issues and when they break are VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX WITHOUT WARRANTY! Mustangs look great and drive great are very comfortable and practical and affordable, compared to high end premium cars.

      Sam Sanchez - Yep! They’re just about the Best Buy in the auto market in terms of what you get. I love my Bullitt. I haven’t run into any haters at all. People love this car and 99% of auto reviews can’t stop saying how good it is. No car is perfect!

    This Mustang has received universal love from almost all the reviewers and critics. Car and Driver especially loves their Bullitt which they’ve tested for 40,000 miles. One channel said it’s the best overall Mustang after comparing all of models.(including the Shelbys). After owning mine for more then year I agree with these comments. It’s no Porsche in the handling department, but for great value and fun it’s great. Ford is now offering the Tremec manual transmission as another added upgrade to the new Bullitt replacement ....the Mach1. You can focus on the negatives like imperfect gaps and some plastic but focus on the positives and drive one. It compares favorably in fun and looks to the European versions like BMW and Porsche. The Mustang is really a great sports car and daily driver and I like the cost savings for after warranty repairs and maintenance as an added benefit!
