Oh Jen, you take such good care of Winnie! Good for you, and good for Winnie. Thanks for sharing.....even though this is 3 years old and I'm just now watching.
I don't know...I...I just can't tear my eyes away from these shih tzu grooming vids. It's so detailed and so involved, the processes are so exacting...the results are beautiful...but these videos are strangely...hypnotic..
A small tip, I am a groomer and breeder of Shih Tzu, if you order Bright Magic by Top Performance out of Petedge, you can get a gallon for 18.99 and it is dilute too. It will brighten her white and brighten her red. It's also tear free, so it doesn't hurt like a whitening shampoo if you accidently get it in her big pretty eyes. :) I love it and it keeps my Shih Tzu very vibrantly colored.
Winnie is a real sweet darling. Every time I watch your grooming videos, I'm amazed on how good you are at grooming her and on how long and well Winnie stays quiet...You are both very patient and the love you have for each other is so clear to see and it makes me almost cry.
It's so awesome to see someone that takes such good care of their pet! Some people forget they depend on you for everything just like a permanent infant. Winnie and you are just the cutest together! I am awaiting the arrival of my new puppy baby and I can only hope I will half as good of a puppy mommy as you are to Winnie! She's a very lucky girl and I can tell you feel just as lucky to have her!!
Little Miss Winnie is such a good girl. She's so precious and patient. You have done such a great job being consistent and keeping to a routine so she knows what to expect. Kudos to you all! (Nice camera work Don!) P.S. Love your Harrods apron and of course, LOVE Harrods!!! Big squeezes & smooches to Winnie for being so fabulous!
It makes me SICK to see someone take their own time to post a video to help others and then some of you idiots have the nerve to come on here and criticize! If you don't like it then don't watch it and keep your comments to your self !!! I think the video was wonderfully done and so informative. I'm going tomorrow to get a tub to put in my shower! What a neat idea, I had been drowning myself in the kitchen. lol Thanks for the wonderful tips and please keep the video's coming! I guess some of these people would have a stroke seeing us fill our 20,000 gallon swimming pool ! lol Oh and I have a Shi Chon and a Shih Tzu that mean the world to me. Winnie is a beautiful, well behaved, ball of precious fur.
Dobrý deň, ja som tiež fanúšička Winnie a veľmi mi pomáhajú tieto videá. Chcela som sa spýtať na link, alebo doporučiť či sa dá zohnať cez internet, kde sa dá zohnať tá vaňa v sprche. Ďakujem , veľmi mi pomôžete, tiež mám ši-tzu.
what a great efficient way to wash her. that utility tub was a brilliant idea. i hunch over the bathtub bathing my poodle and it wears on me. I do use a measuring cup to rinse her off, helps alot. Her hair is thick and curly. Winnie is absolutely beautiful and I enjoy your videos. Thank you for continuing to post!
You’re the best, Jen! Thank you for sharing. I’m getting my puppy in 3 days. I wouldn’t have felt I could groom him without watching your wonderful videos. Thank you so much! I hope you, the kids and Winnie are all doing well!
Thank you for all of your viedos. I just got a new shih tzu puppy and was looking for helpful information to take care of him and came across your series. You are so generous sharing your time and talent. Your advice is so appriciated.
As a groomer Im very impressed with your dedication to your little girl! I wish more people put in even a tad of the effort you do, my job would be so much more enjoyable! I enjoyed your videos thus far, thanks for sharing! Keep up the good work!!
Thank you so much for taking all the time for recording, editing, narrating and uploading this. I have a persian cat and I'll use some of your tips the next time it is her bath time, like the bottles that you used for applying the shampoo and the small tooth brush to wash her face.
i tried the toothbrush-thing today on my yorkie, and it worked like a charm!!! i have been struggling to was his face good, and this was perfect!!! thank you!
thank you for such detailed videos. when my little girl is a little older i hope to get a dog for us both. i'm planning from now to make sure we have taken into account the maintenance the dog will need to be cared for properly.
you're videos have really helped me with some good tips for grooming my little girl, Anwen, she's a 1 year old Lhasa apso so grooming for her is very similar to your gorgeous little girl, thank you so much :) xx
Hi, i'm just loving your videos. I really like your use of the squeezy bottles to hold the shampoo and conditioner. I just use a jug so i'll be using that tip for sure. I have a couple of tips for you which you may like to try. I always put a towel on the base of the bath so my dog does not keep slipping and it also protects the bath as well as being comfortable for my dogs feet. Another thing I do is use a face cloth to wipe off excess water etc. around the face if needed.
The water running on the dog can be calming to the dog just like when a person stands in the shower with warm water for several minutes. At times the sound of water & the feel of the warm water hitting the dog is comforting just like on us when we want it. It sure feels good on the backs.
You are so loving with Winnie. She is one lucky pup. Thanks for the tub idea. You are so awesome. You should have your own show on television instead of Martha! Keep up the great work!
I am not the person you addressed this question tol, but YES! I do turn my water off multiple times while showering. I would not say anything to anyone else about not shutting it off, but I prefer to live very frugally and watch the amount of resources I use. In many areas water is scarce and I can understand why some people would "CRINGE" when leaving the water running. I also set a timer and only take FIVE minute showers.
OMG!She is so calm and listening.Very well trained.I'm going to have a bichon havanese this summer and I hope I can train my puppy as well as you did train Winnie!:)
Ok, well now I feel like a bit of a weirdo... I asked how you bathe her in another vlog...now I find this one..😋 on me..lol... But now I know how you do it. Wow!!! Thats A LOT of care..you are an excellent fur mommy.... Your going to be an excellent mommy to your blessing that is on the way.
Why is everybody worried about how much water she is using?? Im pretty sure its her paying her water bill not you all -_- . Who gives a crap shes good at what she does thats all that matters. This is a tutorial on grooming not observing the use of water.
Queen Sylvi Robins Who gives a crap???? take a trip to africa and see how water conditions are there stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS ABOUT THE ENVIROMENT YOU IGNORANT!!!!!
xchicglowgoxo 35 actually, with a degree in mechatronics engineering and an MBA. Im from a spanish speaking country, so I consider my english is quite descent. Are you really gonna shield yourself in meaningless gramatical mistakes to try to make up for your ignorance?? I would like to see if you speak spanish as I speak english... Its obvious I have quite a better understanding of how the world works.... since it seems like a dumb fuck like you thinks that water is an endless resource... and why are you saying my phrases arent coherent? Seems to me you undestood what I said... or is it that you have some kind of understanding dissability??? YOU DUMB FUCK!!!! Go read instead of filling your head with Disney Channel diarrea... YOU DUMB FUCK!!!!!!!
I'll entertain you (it's obvious your life is lacking such, or you wouldn't be here spewing hateful, trite insults on TH-cam)- Saying things like " YOU DUMB FUCK" & "YOU IGNORANT" are ways with which you prove my point. You are indeed the "ignorant" one. When was the last time you actually changed someones opinion via juvenile, banal vulgarities? When was the last time you positively impacted your "cause" (for lack of a better word) by calling the perpetrator a "dumb fuck". Perhaps you should spend your time getting a grip on the English language (if you are indeed 30 something and 'Spanish') rather than spending your time typing nonsense on the internet. Perhaps you should have learned how to properly argue a point, before learning to say things like " dumb fuck". Oh, and here is the kicker- I never said anything about the lady "wasting water". What I did point out was your utterly useless delivery of a reasonable argument. Perhaps the above statements went over your head? Not a problem, I'll break it down for you- kneel down, and lick my asshole you worthless peon. I'm out.
Wow that's a lot of work, I think I take less time bathing my two girls;), you are a hero Jen:) that was perfect to watch, and I truly loved it at the end when you had her in your arms, so sweet and capturing :) cant wait for the rest of the process next week, love, Iman
I don't know why people keep saying bathing her once a week is bad for her skin... They OBVIOUSLY don't have hypoallergenic dogs! I have a Yorkie and a Maltese and if I don't wash them every 2 weeks, their hair looks oily. Jen seems to be an amazing pet owner and it would be nice if everyone pampered animals this way;) keep up the great videos Jen!
I LOVE your videos ! I have a 18 week old Shih Tzu female. I've had her since she was 8 weeks old, she LOVES being brushed/groomed out every day, I have used a similar routine, I am also very organized and a perfectionist! LOL! I am a hairdresser, so That is why, and this just came by human experience, I have now followed your little extras in advice, which is awesome! And your furbaby is beautiful! my goal is to have our "Dixie" have her hair as long as yours is, so I take great care, but it tends to take me closer to 45min, to do her. My vet told me a bath every 3 weeks is perfect, because of the oils they need in the skin, not to do a weekly, I was doing weekly before, she LOVES bath/shower time! Thank you for your videos! I love them, do you have one on how you got her to stop the nipping/playing stage? I would love to see that! Thanks again!
Just a tip, there are eye drops meant for the bath that are used before and after to rise and prevent soap getting in as well as face shampoo. Good luck X
I have an awesome Shih Tzu named Chloe and I never thought there were people on this earth that tailored to her as much as I do but know I know. She has regular hair because personally I do not believe a dog could like having hair that long but could be wrong of course. Anyway good luck with you and your puppy both of you guys are pretty cute.
amen buethoughts! you can tell that Winnie is LOVED! she is a beautiful dog. i mean if all people can do is worry about is "water wasting" they are missing the point of the video. looks like winnie has it made in the shade!
Wow! I kept my little guy, when he was alive, in a puppy cut...We brushed him a lot but when we did let his hair grow he didn't really like it. And LOL I just saw your dog has it's own bathroom? Wow...that takes animal loving to a whole new level rofl...
Jen I am sure someone has suggested it before but in child sections they make cups with a flexible front to help keep water out of their eyes. PS Winnies face here cracks me up!!
You couldn't tell that winnie doesn't like showering, she's soo patient and calm, you should be really proud of her. My girl (a 1 year-old maltese) cries murder and won't be still for even a second, and I've been incredibly gentle, quick and patient with her, she's just not having it. I'm kind of jealous. Winnie's beautiful!
Another adorable video and so helpful. Winnie is so well behaved. Have you ever used the shampoo that wasn't concentrate? I recently ordered from Cherry Brook and got the small bottles. Love it! Wish I had space for the sink in my bath. Thanks for sharing!
Winnie looks unhappy during the bath but she is sooo cute. you are a great dog owner and gave me some good ideas for when I bathe my dogs the next time. I especially like the toothbrush Idea
It depends really, if the dog has short hair and is kept in a clean environment it you should probably bathe it once every two weeks but if your house is prone to any collections of dust whatsoever (specially for carpeted houses) I used to wash my dog once a week to keep him fresh. It doesnt really irritate their skin as long as youre gentle and that the water is luke warm :) always use shampoos for dogs though.
Winnie is so good at bathtime..maybe she has been trained better than my ShiTzus. I have the same tub for bathing my dogs but I've struggled with matting so I take mine to the groomers every six weeks or so. Does Winnie wear a collar? My two ( Maisy and Bear) have matting in their collar area especially. I just found your channel ( all 3) and have interest in every subject. I plan to research and better my grooming of my pups. Thanks for your information and time doing these videos!
Great Video Job Don! Maximus has a similar coat but i never thought to put her shampoo in a squeeze bottle ( thanks for that hint) Like you Max comes in the shower for his bath... i have a bench i do him on
I usually just wear my bathing suit and we both sit down in the tub. I put towels on the floor. I wash my Maggie Doodle first and then get out and dry her off a bit and let her run around in the bathroom and shake off while I get back in and shower my self. Then get out and finish grooming her. I bath her about once a week, but I always bath her when I need my shower so I don't have to worry about getting wet.
TYSM for sharing, myself I have 5 beautiful shih Tzu's,and I love your videos, now I tell my babies they have a new friend call Winnie :);I'm always trying to improve myself in their care and I'm so glad I found your channel,I was reading some of the comments ppl left and I was laughing at those "running water criticizes" Thanks God we live in U.S.A. .,Land of the FREE and running water in e household...what's your most recent video on Winnie? How are you guys doing now on 2014?;I visited your blog too ,but I noticed they're from past year.TYSM again from me,Max(9),Sacha(6),Tabatha(3),Junior (7 months) and Nena Nicole ( 2 & 1/2 months old). Love & Blessing to you &Winnie
My Sophie's doesn't really like bath time but she will tolerate it. I shower her in the bathtub but I can see how a tub really keeps them in place. I keep Sophie in full coat but I cut her bangs...she can really gather dust in Summer, mud in Spring, snowballs in Winter and leaves in Fall lolll. I do love that cuddle time after her bath wrapped in herb big, fluffy towel. How we love our Tzus!
Jenny Tomas how is making an observation being rude?! If she wasting water, she wasting water! How is it rude, it's a fact that she IS wasting water. You just down right dishonest about the obvious. I didn't ask your opinion anyway.
great tips...got a lot of new ideas...thanks Jen for this interesting video:)thumbs up for Winnie for behaving the whole time......so cuteeee..great job for Don too
I like Jen leave the water running since I need to keep it warm, but I only bath my Shih Tzu every two weeks since my Vet told me that is not healthy for the skin of the dog to bath every week. I do more than once only if the dog gets durty but since my Shih Tzu is alway inside he only goes out to potty he stays pretty clean.
o MY GOD! This dog is soooooo obedient! Personally I ve been having hunting dogs for few years which I keep them outside of the house. But lately my girl pusses me to take a dog for inside the house. So I am thinking about it and I am all around the web trying to find a good race. This race seems really hairy but so cute. However I still prefer my Drahthaar's!! Congratulations to the owner, very good work
I've watched all your grooming videos. I was wondering if u use frontline or any other kind of monthly flea and tick prevention product. Thank you for all your videos from a fellow shih tzu mommy
My Sophie tries to get away during her bath but that maybe cause she is in the bathtub and has somewhere to go. Otherwise her bath is very similar to Winnie's. Sophie is full coat also so in summertime she really gathers a lot of dust loll. I also love that time after her bath when I cuddle her in her big towel. I just love Shih tzus!
she uses it to clean her dog and the water is suddy anyway and she pays the water bill so she can do what ever she wants to do with it. do you go weeks without showering to conserve water?
Depends on the length of your dog's coat, and the time of year. Winnie is bathed once a week. Less in winter because of temperature change and drying of the skin. Ideally bathe the dog when its dirty :P
I have a question, do you put your dog on heart worm medication? Also what do you do to prevent fleas? After walking Winnie, do you brush her or check her paws? I'm sorry for all these questions I'm a pretty new owner to a Lhasa apso and she has long hair and I'm concern of her long hair
I've always sent my dog to the groomers but now I've started washing him at home. It's kinda hard because he's 100lbs & 3 ft at his shoulders. It's a workout!
Your working area looks so organize, I love it!! You are very organized and clean! Though, I disagree with the amount of water wasted before the bath :s
Oh Jen, you take such good care of Winnie! Good for you, and good for Winnie. Thanks for sharing.....even though this is 3 years old and I'm just now watching.
i use to watch your videos growing up especially Winnie ! this video is so nostalgic for me. hope you all are doing well !
Every good dog deserves an owner like you! You are amazing. Thank you!
I don't know...I...I just can't tear my eyes away from these shih tzu grooming vids. It's so detailed and so involved, the processes are so exacting...the results are beautiful...but these videos are strangely...hypnotic..
exactly! :)
Btw your dog is an angel she's so cute love the bows...
#bows
Such an adorable , cute and polite puppy ................ Winnie and Jen your videos are extremely cute and adorable . Keep uploading videos
The relationship you have with your dog is just beautiful. Winnie trust you completely. I love watching your videos!!!

Winnie is a beautiful, well behaved, ball of precious fur.

what a great efficient way to wash her. that utility tub was a brilliant idea. i hunch over the bathtub bathing my poodle and it wears on me. I do use a measuring cup to rinse her off, helps alot. Her hair is thick and curly. Winnie is absolutely beautiful and I enjoy your videos. Thank you for continuing to post!

No one can ever say you are humble, real, or unorganized .
Winnie is so lucky to have you for her mama! You trained her very well too...

This is so freakin' adorable! I love the way she looks up at 0:51 after you put the clip in her hair as if to say "see how I look?"
I have 2 of these adorable dogs, the mom and her one and only pup. They are the best, love them sooo much.

She is so obedient and sweet!
Ok wait. She has her own bathroom? Wow how extra 😂😂😂😂 i love it
My Sophie's doesn't really like bath time but she will tolerate it.
OH MY... you have that dog so well trained you should make a series about that.
winnie is well behaved ur videos are really great im getting a shih tzu saturday or Friday and by watching ur video ill know wat to do
you train your dog very well
Winnie is 2 cute. She is always calm. BEST PUPPY EVER!!! :)
Ikr my dog moves a lot when I shower her
Jenny Tomas how is making an observation being rude?!
I do more than once only if the dog gets durty but since my Shih Tzu is alway inside he only goes out to potty he stays pretty clean.
winnie is so adorable!!!
true, I am the proud mommy of 2 yorkies and I bathe them once every 2 weeks in the winter and once a week in the summer.
Congratulations to the owner, very good work
Awww what a good girl and she's so pretty! Thanks for Sharing.
I've watched all your grooming videos. I was wondering if u use frontline or any other kind of monthly flea and tick prevention product. Thank you for all your videos from a fellow shih tzu mommy
You are so good, lucky dog, love them, got one myself. I do my own grooming, thanks for the tips. Good luck to you.
I just love Shih tzus!
that's so nice of you to make it a comfortable and pleasant experience for her she has a good owner:)
YOUR DOG IS SO WELL TRAINED!
she uses it to clean her dog and the water is suddy anyway and she pays the water bill so she can do what ever she wants to do with it. do you go weeks without showering to conserve water?
i love the way winnie stares
I love how much you care for her, your care for her so much.amazing grooming and training.btw how did you learn that?she is one pretty and lucky dog :)
You have a beautiful dog!! I love her
Depends on the length of your dog's coat, and the time of year. Winnie is bathed once a week. Less in winter because of temperature change and drying of the skin. Ideally bathe the dog when its dirty :P
she is so tolerant!
We need an updated Winnie grooming video 🥰🥰
Winnie is an adorable little ShihTzu. You are a good mommy:-)
May I suggest that you use baby shampoo around her eyes because it is tearless.
Finally got to see Winnie's big eyes, so adorable
I loved your video. I watched the whole thing. Very nicely done. Bravo! And Winnie was such a good girl.
I have a question, do you put your dog on heart worm medication? Also what do you do to prevent fleas? After walking Winnie, do you brush her or check her paws? I'm sorry for all these questions I'm a pretty new owner to a Lhasa apso and she has long hair and I'm concern of her long hair
does Winnie have her own room. where do she sleep. in a crate? or her own dog bed. I have a shih tzu also. great videos!!!
I wish other people do this like you your awesome
I've always sent my dog to the groomers but now I've started washing him at home. It's kinda hard because he's 100lbs & 3 ft at his shoulders. It's a workout!
ohh and at my grooming school we use sham wows to pre dry ehal in the tub it works wonders
Your working area looks so organize, I love it!! You are very organized and clean! Though, I disagree with the amount of water wasted before the bath :s
