Huh surprised I missed this upload when it released. Coming from Dragalia Lost, I was quite surprised with how the game prioritised it’s new characters. I loved Dragalia but the main story by the end of the game was how it advertised its Gala Characters and Dragons, basically the GBF equivalent of Grand characters and top level Summons. Comparing it to Granblue where I think the last non alt MSQ character we got was an unrelated alt for the Golden Knight in 2022? In Dragalia I could’ve expected at least 2 Cleo alts in that time. Sucks too since the MSQ gets really good in Nahlegrande and beyond, but a side effect of the writers focusing on end of the month events instead of the main story is that post 63, we don’t tend to see any of the MSQ characters released afterwards with a few exceptions like the writers remembering that Cain’s group and the Golden Knight exist. Also it means that 95% of all events will be taking place in Phantagrande. I believe the only exception to this since I’ve been playing has been Full Metal Man VII, which since Yngwie’s motivation was his kid in another Skydom it had to be done. I do wonder what’s going to happen next with the MSQ? I am hoping that eventually the writers will start to add long time characters sprinkled into more events after all of the current storyline is wrapped up, but I do wonder how it’s going to be done. They could pull a Dragalia and just reset the universe and have it so they can have fan favourite characters like Seofon and Sandalphon in the main story, as well as retcon some things like certain characters deaths like the True King and Violet Knight, as well as bringing back that one Skydom destroyed by the otherworld? One thing to mention is that Relink does touch on each of the previous Skydom’s visited very briefly but of course doesn’t go into detail what happened in Oarlygrande at all, but since the MSQ are alive that does mean that it’s either a separate timeline or could even tie into the writers basically resetting the MSQ universe to have the fan favourite event characters. It sucks that it’s a long time between chapters but I do have hope that we’ll see a continuation at some point maybe next year.
As someone who played Dragalia Lost, I don't mind the wait. At least the game is in no rush to finish, due to END OF SERVICE or anything like that. If it were the opposite I'd be a lil worried. Also I'm ready for this GW to be over I HATE WIND. I ain't spending a stone for Katze's S4 for 250. Also I don't care much for the story? I sped read thru it when I 1st started and thought it was pretty whatever. Some of it felt pretty cliche even, with the main cast going thru their power arcs. The story now is pretty cool (although it feels like it's rushing to the end anyways with how the MC got the final piece through the multi timeline method). I'm def eager to see how the end game place will look like (I forgot the name).... if we ever get to it.
Main Story Quest is one of my favorite parts of Granblue but it's so sad how little attention it gets in comparison to most other things. It's the primary storyline of the entire franchise, shouldn't it get more attention? Even in things like Granblue VS it gets little attention, with only about 4-5 characters from the MSQ being playable.
While I do think early chapters were definitely suffered bigly from filler fights. I thought the 2nd arc was amazing and 3rd arc had some moments but it's definitely rushed as hell. And I disagree with your take about stories in gacha games. Like sure GBF and FGO definitely had rough start story wise. But I do think FGO Camelot and Babylonia being so good is where gacha games generally try to have a good story in them
In the Early chapters, I found it funny that they kept using Monsters as a segway to transition from one scene to another. Eventually that all changes. Though, personally i'm not worrying all that much about the Main Story as i've been thinking about the continuations of other stories. But at the same time, we're nearing pretty crucial parts of the story regarding the MSQ. So if they need more time to cook, then by all means, i'll let them cook. I don't see much hearsay about the MSQ from my POV, let alone anything regarding lore, and that is mostly due to how people don't have that much knowledge about lore in the game. Even people on subreddit, let alone the cesspool that is Twitter. There isn't very many lore channels in Granblue (EN), because the EN side is small compared to the JP side which is probably the size of a single hoyoverse playerbase in NA or something. _This is also why, I end up finding and befriending people who have a similar interest to the stuff I like from JP more than in EN._ (Also atm my GW grind is going fine, im going to nab the new skin next round.)

I mind because we have a knights sidequest EVERY SINGLE YEAR but main quest is forgotten
Yeah I'd like the Knight's storyline to just end already please...
