    I love that someone still makes a heavy, well built SIMPLE tractor. This thing will be found in a field 50 years from now and someone will put in new fuel and a battery and it will run. I'm not confident these expensive plastic tractors will be the same way. People today rebuild old deere tractors, but I don't think the modern ones will be the same story.

    I've got a 6530 which is basically the rebadged 5570. You'll find that if you do much high lifting, your right FEL lift arm will stay black with soot from the exhaust. Changing the battery out is a PITA but you only do it once every few years so not that big of a deal. Other than that and a few quirks here and there, it's a beast. I've got a 7 ft HD Mahindra rotary cutter and can usually run through 4 to 5 ft moderately thick grass in 3rd low. Most, if not all, Mahindra's implements are made by Kodiak (Paladin parent company) and are very nicely built which you probably already know. And it pulls an old heavy King Plow Co. 10'6" offset disc harrow with twenty four 22" discs like it's not even there. The weight of these tractors makes them great for heavy work.

      Yes you're definitely right about them being a beast. I have a video of me pulling a subsoiler to bury cable and I had the tractor in low range and 1st gear idling and I didn't even know it was back there. I'm very happy with the tractor so far.

    I wish I had watched this video before I bought a 4550.
    Just like you I'll be trading it in for a 5555.
    Along with the gear grinding that drives me crazy the 4550 does not have a fully independent PTO.
    I only have 58 hours of mowing time on it and I still can't get used to the two stage clutch.
    Cheers from the piney woods of east Texas.

    Hey buddy nice Tractor. I bought a 33 HP LS Tractor. Absolutely no problems. Hard working machine but I want to bump up to a 50 HP Tractor from 33. My LS was over 6 thousand dollars less than John Deere. My loader lifts 1,650 lbs. A lot more than the Deere. The Mahindra is a beast and I really like it but to be honest I'm afraid to buy one. A dealer is an hour and half away. I would appreciate input from you guys. Thanks. Mark.

It is 30 percent less than the John Deere and Kubota ( that are actually a little smaller) I have looked at. It would just be utility tractor for a small farm. I just have never been around a Mahindra so wanted see if you are still happy.

    I love theses videos because we get to compare various brands; good and bad. I bought a Branson 3725, just a few differences. The Branson has a larger floor board. Your right foot is exposed as seen in the video, I prefer to have a steel floor under my foot for protection. Your Mahindra is 4 speed x 2, Branson is 4 speed x 3, more gearing options. Same shift on the fly through the gears. :) Same 3 point hitch features. :)
    I considered an electronic shuttle shift, but decided against it, it's another electronic servo that will fail and then the tractor won't go. I prefer the manual clutch and shifting forward to reverse, BTW, the Branson stops quick enough when depressing the clutch without any brake input that my direction changes are completed in the same time as in your video. Branson uses a hand parking brake like in a car, less complication in design and I think the parking brake knob on the Mahindra could get accidentally released based upon the view in the video. The Branson safety neutral switch is in the column on the forward reverse selector (which I prefer). I would rather not have to shift my hi-lo tranny selector needlessly and excessively causing premature wear in the gears and forks, I wonder why Mahindra makes you move that heavy gear selector in order to start when the F/R selector would be just as easy to design. Compare shipping weights of the tractors and Branson tractor are heavier which means they have more steel and thicker steel throughout. The Branson backhoe digs a full 9' deep, Mahindra's only goes to 7'6"

    • @petebeasttexashomesteading
      @petebeasttexashomesteading  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's great that you found the tractor that works for you. The Branson 3725 is a much smaller and lighter tractor with about 37 HP then the Mahindra 5555. It's all about what will work for you and your pocket book.

      Brian G That Mahindra outweighs your tractor anywhere from minimum of 1500lbs to over a ton, your tractor doesn’t outweigh mine I have 4035 and it weighs 4800 lbs without the loader add the loader 1200lbs equals over 3 tons your tractor weighs 4100lbs, more weight equals more work.

      The F 250 should not have any problems pulling it. The tractor is roughly 7000lbs and my trailer is about 2000lbs. I pulled my 4550 with my 1500 Ram 1/2 ton pick up and it was a little rough but made it home safely. Make sure the tractor is on correctly with some of the weight on the front of the trailer to keep it from fish tailing and give yourself plenty of room to slow down when pulling it and drive much slower then normal of course.

      The steering on the tractor is hydraulic so when the tractor is off the steering wheel turns freely.

  • @311hitwall
    @311hitwall 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Pete have you had any trouble so far? You never know what to believe online but a lot of people complain about Mahindras, but you can read crap about all of them. I noticed that 4550 made a lot of knocking noise?

    • @petebeasttexashomesteading
      @petebeasttexashomesteading  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The knocking noise is probably because the diesel was cold and not warmed up. The 4550 was a great tractor just didn't like the non synchronized trans. The 5555 is a beast and more then enough tractor for me on my property. It's very dependable and has lots of power. You get a lot of tractor for the money compared to other brands.

    • @311hitwall
      @311hitwall 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So you haven't had any problems with leaks? I was looking at a 3550 but I have read so much crap kind of scared me away. Your tractor is too big for me - I just have 2 1/2 acres of grass to plug and see along with scraping driveways, but then you also hear people who get smaller tractors complain that they should have gotten bigger. Only thing is too big of a tractor will mess the yard up.

    • @petebeasttexashomesteading
      @petebeasttexashomesteading  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I only bought the tractor and they threw in the pallet forks, I later looked into getting the 75 B backhoe but they want around $11,000 for it. I ended up buying a cheap Chinese backhoe for around $3500 because I don't use one that often.

    But non sync transmission is better when it comes to heavy duties. thats why semi trucks use only non sync transmission. Ofcourse it is not easy to use. You need some used to.

      Mahindra usuly has it in the number sequence. 5500 series, 55 hp =5555. 6575 is 6500 series 75hp. HST is HydroStatic Transmission. PST is Power Shuttle Transmission. Mahindra is pretty good on labeling their equipment compared to others ive come across.

    All Mahindra tractors are manufactured overseas, either in India or China. The only two people that Mahindra gives a job to is the salesman and the mechanic that keeps fixing them. Buy American and give your kids or grandkids a job. Buy a John Deere that is made in Augusta, Georgia, John Deere employees thousands of Americans.
