Cayman S 987 vs BMW M3 e46 FULL SEND!

Many of you have been asking how the Cayman compares to an e46 M3. There you go :)
Both cars have similar specs, KW Clubsport, sticky tires, Manual gearbox. But the cayman is stripped and therefore much lighter. The BMW has the stock interior. With fresh tires these cars are almost equally fast. The Cayman then gains an advantage when the M3's tires overheat a bit.
The M3 is however way cooler, looks better, sounds better ^^

Here in the UK the two cars are similar money.. I love the E46, but it seems the 987 goes just as well on track (if not better) and doesn't have endless amounts of huge and vital maintenance job that all cost £xxxx's that the BMW does (Vanos, rod bearings, cooling system, rust etc). What are your thoughts on this?

hey! Yes the BMW may demand more maintenance. Vanos and rod bearings are indeed a common vital issue, cooling and rust will depend on the car you own and how you use it. The 987 Facelift (with MA1 engine) seems more reliable on paper that's correct. I however think that the M3 maintenance is still not exagerated since these "big" services will not come very often. I would still recommend to try both cars and focus first on the driving experience :) Also: both cayman and M3 will climb in value anyway if they are loved and well maintained :)
