      Lisa Barnes they weren't exactly redesigned, the art style is pretty much identical, give or take a few minor details like the professor' chin being less sharp and the girls' teacher not having breasts.

      I mean they took what seemed to be ecstasy and twerking just to look trendy.

    How is it that whenever I'm facing problems with drawing, you coincidentally upload a video on how to solve them?

  • @beawolfe

    Of all of these I struggle with sentiment the most. I'm actually in the process of sorting through a lot of old character sheets and either redrawing or redesigning. One character in particular is one of my oldest ones and I don't want to change him, even though I know that for story purposes I have to. It's quite the challenge.

    • @esperlemon

    • @beawolfe

      CitrusCubing Not bad, honestly! The character I was talking about has stuck around with a much cleaner design and dramatically changed backstory so I think I did well? I ended up using his story for a uni class and realized that one of the other characters I liked is entirely useless, I guess it's time to cut the dead weight 😂 Still haven't redrawn all the old characters, new ones keep cropping up instead...yikes

      Tetris_Citadel no, the redesigns had a point, the original designs would not work in the style that teen titans go was trying to have. A better example of unnecessary redesigning is the redesigns of the the new teen titans movie coming out this year.

      Eujean Yu yea, the first change just added a few more aliens and enemies. But the world was still similar, and then style was still pretty much the same. The most recent Ben 10 has a completely new style change, a million more aliens and characters (which they barely introduced), and a completely different world. It’s not even the same story. As a kid, the show didn’t focus on story, mostly just fighting bad guys. As someone who didn’t watch tv that often, when they switched to focusing on the story it was kinda hard to catch up.
      Sorry for the block of text, I just miss my favourite show as a child

    I recently went back to an old character I did called *Archie The Anzoonie* (don't ask, I came up with that name in like 1 minute) and the funny thing is I didn't change anything about him because I'm happy with his design. If I find the pictures I'll upload them for you to see, But now I just start drawing him from multiple angle and clean his eyes up a bit.

      Undertale itself started from an Earthbound ROMhack, it became something for itself when the creator rewrote Mother out of their original characters and kept the similarities that contribute to their own original work. It may require creative muscle on your part, but think about what you like about Undertale that you want your characters to take good influence from.

    I had a kind of species of character develop from an idea that I originally intended to be a fan-made Pokemon. Originally, the species was supposed to control light, and had a weird bipedal goat-vibe about it. I had a story for them, but ultimately it sucked, and I tried to revamp it (and another species alongside it) to make it a full-on alien species as opposed to a Pokemon, and changed around the idea. That didn't work at all, and the design faded into the back of my mind. Eventually, I had an idea, and even though it wasn't anything like how I originally intended it to be, I liked it more, and thus that design stuck and is now pretty much how I intend to keep it.
    (If you're curious, This: r-poole.deviantart.com/art/The-Chara-and-The-Vauger-348168010 is what it looked like before, and This: r-poole.deviantart.com/art/The-Chara-637455658 is what it looks like now.)

    • @isaaclim8290
      @isaaclim8290 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I remember watching a video saying something about desigining the character to suit the enviroment, not the other way around. Maybe that'll help

    • @isaaclim8290
      @isaaclim8290 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It'll be also nice if you could add some 'spice' to your character, make them do something instead of the standard standing. Maybe reloading a gun, running away or sitting down, anything to make it intreguing.

    • @robertpoole9707
      @robertpoole9707 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The thing is that these things are not individual characters; they're an entire species. The pose and the clothes are basic just so I could use it as a reference. There are characters that are a part of this species, and when I draw them I will draw them with more complex parts.

    Hey I have a question. I want to make my own comic, and I have a concept, but I feel like I am not skilled enough in storytelling to make it; should I hold it off and make smaller stories, or make this grand story I have in my head.

    • @gulfgiggleanimations4472
      @gulfgiggleanimations4472 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      SuperDuper I understand your dilemma. I'd say it's better to make smaller stories first so you have room to learn and experiment with writing. Make sure that the story in these short stories is generic, like a simple revenge plot, or saving a damsel in distress, this way you can focus on the characters.

    • @superduper7874
      @superduper7874 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      BayLaugh Animations but Brookes said to not let an idea being in your head for to long, to make what I ever is on your mind

    • @gulfgiggleanimations4472
      @gulfgiggleanimations4472 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      SuperDuper I know what you mean, but I feel like you should start when you've improved enough to be happy with your other work. Then again, you can always just remake your old material if you look back and aren't happy with it.

    • @CharacterDesignForge
      @CharacterDesignForge  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was in the context of the situation where an idea is in your head vs. putting it down on paper/recording it. Your "big idea" is something you can hold onto. I would say start something that you can finish: A project you can plan out and complete in just a few months. The goal is to learn something from the project and to have the sense of accomplishment that comes with completion. Then, do it again. Work your way up to your big idea, so that it's doable, from a management and skills standpoint!

    How do you make a character have exaggerated features but still have good anatomy and movement?

    • @bluedragonic6191
      @bluedragonic6191 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That depends on what you want to focus on, is it more important that your character has good anatomy or that your character stands out easily because of his exaggerated features? When it comes to character creation it is important to know what you want so that you can base your decisions on that.
