Your right in the EU it was just V-Rally 2, but in North America labeled as Need for Speed V-Rally 2. This is because V-Rally didn't sold well in North America, so EA attempted to use the more popular brand name. So NFS V-Rally 2 isn't a true NFS game.
In addition to having so many options available to tuning and affecting the car, I was impressed with the option to pause the game and infinitely adjust the camera angle and trailing distance in this title not to forget the stage creator / editor and a smooth, four player split screen.👍

Colin Mcrae 2.0, Rally Cross, and V-Rally 2 were some of the best rally games I've ever played. The only thing that bothers me about all of them are the copious amounts of boring menus before a race. Also, I noticed that one of the songs has the same sounds from GTR 98, which is another game I played the hell out of way back when.

It did things others didn't do until way after. Like how different terrains changed how your control worked. Go through mud and it slows you down and kills your grip on the road, sand has you slide over like a penguin, etc. SEGA Rally pioneered many things others didn't do until later.
I thought since this title offered widescreen aspect ratio viewing in menu that everything would be round - unlike the gauge seen on screen unless that graphic just so happens to not be affected when switching to widescreen. 🤷♂️
My issue with this game is lackluster car sound and weird collision physics, especially with walls. The handling is great fun though, and the track editor is one of the best at the time (and in some ways, still is, barring Trackmania games).
hAVING THE CENTER LINE DRAW IN THAT CLOSE IS DISTRACTING. FUNNY THAT THE OUTSIDE LINES DRAWS TO THE HORIZON BUT THE CENTER LINE DRAWS LIKE 25 FEET IN FRONT OF YOUR CAR. if it really made a big effect on the frame rate they just shouldn't have rendered it at all.

The PlayStation has pixelated graphics like Saturn, not HD early Xbox 360 graphics like this.
