oh man talk about a time capsule, I had this on xbox when I was around 6-7 years old (I am 27 now) and used to play it now and then. Totally forgot about it up until now. Funily enough when the intro started it seemed to all come back to me. Good times.
@@Mullet345 nah, I'm too deep in NFS game back then. Not really playing any 'sim-racing' genre, so I never knew this car existed until later on I tried to play Gran Turismo series to see all the hype
Imagine if Codemasters make V8 Supercars games again . . . . . . Also, XTG, the subsequent V8 Supercars games next? V8 Supercars 2 and 3. And a video showing the list of tracks and all racing teams, in the v8s.
V8 supercars was technically Toca to be sold more for the Australian market and besides since Toca video games in England has V8 supercars event in it anyway...they just called it V8 supercars in Australia to make it sell more.
I played the shit outta this one and number 2, I almost remembered that cinematic at the start word for word. I also remember very vividly when you went into the pits and one of the crew would be yelling “move it! move it!” every now and then
This game is super nostalgic to me lol I remember finding out that the Xbox and PC versions were superior to the PS2 version, it absolutely blew my mind. Pity QLD Raceway didn’t make it into the game though, considering it was the 2nd endurance event from 1999 - 2002.
Funny how the PS2 version focused on the 2001 season, while the Xbox and PC versions focused on the 2002 season. Also, the PS2 version showed a 14-car grid while the Xbox and PC versions showed a 20-car grid.
Supercars 2 was my favorite, Gold Coast a nightmare track, in the first one had the Cancerra 500, went to that in real life back in late nineties around the cappital circuit, was canned unfortunately
@@battlewolf578 No this was a release all on its own.. But then again, many games looked exactly like this same back then. It all had that cartoonish feel to it, since the graphics just wasn't better. Codemasters look to be connected to it... Probably the graphics engine

I remember how bad physics were in this game compared to even its predecessors and successors. TRD3 did a lot better. Toca 2 as well although Toca 2 is shit as well.
"He's my brother aint he?" followed by Sweet Home Alabama made me laugh
The Codemasters thing + The Intro just unlocked parts of my brain I had forgot was there

You're not alone. Me too! Pretty dark looking at it as an adult
I’m 28! Legit same here bro! How crazy!
I look back fondly but realize how depressed I was as a kid starting at around 5-6.

Devs: "How hilly is the top of the mountain again?"
Devs: Yes.
all of them
My favourite part was the ai never being able to drive this track, always a massive pileup and a few rollovers as shown in the video
Oh man, running straight down the end of conrod over the sand and the big bump the sends you airborne… the memories!
Legitimately one of the best racing games ever made
11:07 what a sick ass drift bro
Better plot than all the racing games from last decade
Loved this game back when Australia was awesome holden n ford
Okay glad it wasn't just me who somehow managed to get rear ended off the start line every single time
one of the obscure game where I thought all of these car were fake when it turns out it was a real car after I found it on gran turismo 4
You never watched the Supercars championship back in the late '90s/early '00s?
@@Mullet345 nah, I'm too deep in NFS game back then. Not really playing any 'sim-racing' genre, so I never knew this car existed until later on I tried to play Gran Turismo series to see all the hype
@@devseiyaLol, Supercars is not a sim racing game.
@@Tron_Funkin_Blow yea, the correct thing would be probably not playing a racing game that use real life track
Just like one of those people aka Americans that don't even know the rest of the world exists let alone Australia.
just look at that d-pad drivng style. beautiful tribute
After playing this game religiously (and Supercars 2&3), the intro is so so heavy, didn’t realise it as a kid
Return to TOCA Race Driver again?
Yes, just an Australian exclusive version.
Imagine if Codemasters make V8 Supercars games again . . . . . .

V8 Supercars 2 and 3. And a video showing the list of tracks and all racing teams, in the v8s.
The Australian community in sim racing would be huge.

Holy core memory unlocked thankyou for this. i feel old 😩
Holllyyy that opening scene bringing back serious memories

Forgot about this gem this will never be forgotten
One of the OG race games, classic.
Oh I forgot how good this game was so ahead of its time for racing games
Oh man that intro and the menu noises take me back
This game was well ahead of its time
Brings me right back to my childhood.
Used to love playing this game as a teenager
Unreal pass at 10:51 😮
Back in the day thinking the graphics were amazing and so real. Now I struggle to see what’s going on.😊
I'm miss playing this game back then
Codemasters nailed it with v8 Supercars, love for this to be remade for ps5
My Childhood was the V8 Supercars game miss them
I knew bro was going to win even with half chopped car
Great racing! It amazes me the amount of detail emulators get out of these games. Thankyou :)
Still own this game wow 22 years ago now
I play this game In my childhood , i like the story about Ryan McKane

And HRT and the Holden Young Lions teams were both absent thanks to the contract EA Games had with HRT/HSV at the time.
PS2 a suckass port. Most games are like that on PS2 anyway. Plus the only way to play it in modern day anymore is the PC version anywho.
That drift at 10:57 was lit.
6:06 - I don't think that was what Craig Lowndes was hoping would happen during the race
Looks much better that the ps2 version did. This on emulator? Or this the pc version?
Oh god, the nostalgia!

I didn’t know Australians were from Brooklyn 😂
Oh wow I spent way too much of my youth on this game. 2000-3000+ hours
That thumbnail is wild
I remember this game.. really good.
Was like Toca, diverse and exciting.
The Ai was also mad in this one
It is technically toca, just the aussie release

Definitely not, I noticed that as well.
Its an emulated PS2 version of the game

I don't know why but I love this game
I was waiting for the Australian version of Toca race driver to be on there which the title give you an answer to it all.
Bruh this is the game I forgot the name of… thank god this came up in my recommendation..
the sound track
In 2050 we will still be surprised by PS2 games with impressive graphics for the time...
How can a PS2 game have better dialogue, menus, and storyline then modern 2k and EA.
No race game has a career mode like this game did.
The real cars be there next weekend at Bathurst with Mustang 🐎 and Camaro in the Supercars Championship Australia
Good game and however realistic damages as in real life 💯👍

Was this made by the same team that made TOCA Touring Cars? Because my god, does it sound exactly like it.
Exact game it was named differently in different countries

This is the version of Australia. Maybe i'd like some game name Toca Race Driver or Pro Race Driver at 2002.

Out of this & toca race drivers & v83 how much better was v83, liked the damage but then physics in this r shit ways 2 easy too lock up
Jogo de corrida de antigamente tinha mais realismo que Forza motorsport e Gran turismo, os carros quebrado conforme ia batendo e saindo peças.
O realismo na destruição tá bom mas de resto esses jogos são superiores em quase todos os aspectos
