This is why I had to change the 4L60E's separator plate.

  • Hey y'all, it looks like I missed an important part of this build and lost sleep over it. I couldn't understand why there was a check ball pressed into the separator plate, only to discover that the check ball was about to push through the plate. not sure how detrimental it would have been to the trans, but it's fixed permanently now with phenolic check balls.

Awesome man! This 100% deserves a sub! I think you're much more relatable than most other channels that do similar things. Keep it up!

Thank you!! I'm still trying to get comfortable in front of the camera and learning how to edit my content. But I'm definitely not scared to dive into anything mechanical. This is my 1st transmission rebuild trying to follow the atsg manual. The 2nd transmission video won't be so bad. Lol. Thank you for the subscription, TH-cam is a slow, complicated process

No, I didn't beings this was my 1st build. I did air check all of the clutch packs and they worked. We have around 9000ish miles on it with no problems yet. 🤞🏽

Will this cause my trans fluid to smell burnt and lose drive and reverse ? I opened my valve body and one of the balls were a bit damaged

This is probably what started the issue that caused the low pressure problem that made the trans burn up the clutch packs. Without checking line pressure previously I'm just guessing, but it makes sense.

    It's a separator plate.

Ok I stand corrected, the few transmission guys I know call it a mid plate. Thanks I'll go change it.

Thanks Rock Roll for the proper terminology, I've updated the thumbnail and title. The trans is super smooth just having an issue with the PRNDL switch not relaying the proper gear the trans is in. P is park, R is not reading, N is reverse and so on. In 1 it says 3. Changed the switch and still same problem. Any ideas, I've adjusted it a tick at a time full adjustment in both directions. Same result. No broken wires. I think I need to change the plug.

@@Modified1 did you replace the range sensor or are you referring to the pressure manifold switch attached to the valve body?

@Rock Roll the neutral safety switch on the side that slides over the shift shaft.
