I’m using VLC player, no problem so far with any Codecs. As for 7Zip, great choice. Fantastic tutorial.
VLC is pack with codecs already
I used to use GOM Media Player. There were codes issues. Since I switched to VLC, no more code issues. As for GSopt, I have used it since the early 2000,s. Good video Brian.

thanks a lot for this, I struggled with an issue a while ago and thanks to you it seems to work now, I was able to play that particular file with LibreElec on my Raspberry Pi but not on Windows but works now THANKS A LOT

One great video player to use is VLC Media Player from Video Lan. It comes with codecs built-in, so you don't have to download codecs

Hi, Britec09, after I click on Path, 'New User Variable' window opens:. There are two windows: 'Variable Name' and 'Variable Value'. I pasted a Variable Name. What should I write in a Variable Value window so I can finish codec installation?

Could this be the reason my audio simply has not worked for about 2 months now. Windows 10 pro/up to date. Spent countless hours trying everything and countless hours in forums.
Is a Realtek thing for me. The download(s) are there, but simply do not show as installed. U have installed from the manufacture's auto detect serial number, MS and Realtek many many times.
I believe this started after a windows update. Will this program find the codec for my issue? Thanks. Seems perhaps not. Any wat if finding the codec(s) U may need?
You & me both on audio problems! I've gone back to an upgrade of 10 & 11. It's called WIN 7 PRO!

I know, but a lot have malware in them
I use VLC nothing else needed. I do not mess around with codecs.
I found my error I typed codec instead of -codecs
I install The K-Lite Codec Pack on my laptop and I have no problem with videos
I use 7zop to compress, encrypt and zip back up files
I use klite codec pack for missing codecs, it includes ffmpeg
I remember that k-lite, so many dodgy ones on the internet
should mention that ffmpeg is for x64 bit system..

I tried your methods, still unsuccessful for playing back a prores .mov file.
This is only part of why I still use WIN 7 PRO in spite of all the "warnings!" It actually WORKS doing everything I need it to do. Win 10 & 11 are nothing more than money grabbing crap!
7 min. to tell everyone to use VLC or install KLITE, whatever makes you money I guess 😂😂
FFS JUST USE KLITE CODEC ITS SO MUCH EASIER TO INSTALL THAN THIS. WHY DO YOU HAVE TO MAKE THINGS SO COMPLICATED FOR PEOPLE JUST INSTALL KLITE JOB DONE
