    ► freethoughtblog...
TH-cam comments are at present disabled in our channel, to the displeasure of some. However, each video has a prominent link to the associated open thread that appears on our blog. In the past we've tried opening up the channel to comments, but we found that a very high number of episodes wound up being flooded with a combination of spam, long winded apologists, and various obscene or misogynistic comments directed at various hosts by people with an axe to grind. This seems to be the nature of TH-cam comment sections, in our experience.
We do moderate the blog, the same way that we moderate chat during the show, as well as comments on our Facebook group. For comment sections that are "officially" associated with our show (and, to a much lesser extent, channels that may give the unintended appearance of being official), we prefer not to play host to straight up ad hominem attacks and bigotry. As a general policy we do not block commenters simply on the basis of disagreement with our point of view. However, we do prefer discussion environments that don't actively chase off more reasonable contributors.

THANK YOU for bringing up the problem with CPS. It's a mess - kids are wrongfully being taken from safe, loving families, while kids in real distress are not getting the help they need. Also, kids are more likely to be abused in foster care and adoptive care than in their original, "troubled" homes. I fully support child protection, and that includes protecting kids from horrible, destructive, abusive, neglectful, dishonest CPS practices. The whole system needs an overhaul if we want to protect kids from abuse.

In my unique revelation I did not create something to my likeness, but rather borrowed a HUMAN invention called "book", so my HUMAN witnesses and HUMAN prophets could write my adventures and commands in it, in deprecated languages, so other HUMAN preachers could spread how awesome I am. Imperialism: A policy of extending a country's power and influence through diplomacy or military force.
Militarism: The belief or desire of a government or people that a country should maintain a strong military capability and be prepared to use it aggressively to defend or promote national interests.
(33:30) The United States operates in a hybrid state between classical imperialism and outright militarism. While American intentions and moral ambitions abroad are commendable, their execution and repeated failed outcomes (North Korea, Vietnam, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan) expose a trend of internally consistent but ultimately flawed strategy making and foreign policy.
The extreme investment in military power subdues any effective use of diplomacy or economic power to effect peaceful outcomes. The American militarism is a legacy of World War 2 success and a faded notion of manifest destiny and a presupposed moral high ground that justifies biblical levels of violence and strategic stupidity.

    TODAY IN HISTORY - October 9 2019
Kepler's Supernova exploded in the Milky Way on October 9, 1604 and is the world's most recent star explosion in Earth's galaxy to have been observed by the naked eye.
The boom of light was so bright that the supernova was visible for three weeks, despite being 20,000 light years away from Earth.

For Matt regarding the sight of the moon since the two hemispheres: flatearthers do not even agree on the shape of the moon.
On the other hand, their only "model" indicates a moon at 6000 km from the earth, and a sun at the same distance, which would allow to see different phases of the moon from different points of the earth at the same time.
So this video destroys their only "model" that clearly does not work...

I didnt get what the argument was with the world getting better, I mean yes even with little data you can somewhat make an educated guess that the world we live in is better in most measurable ways than 30 years ago and is least religious of all time, and the caller said look at middle east they’re mostly religious but not as advanced as the west?! How does that demonstrate religion is good? The middle east is better in most measurable ways than middle east was 30 years ago and the middle east has the least amount of religious compared to 30 years ago and thats true. So it proves nothing bringing up the middle east, but even if it were to show something, that thing is that in a specific point in time, the more religious a country is the more shitty it is. Which is another form of the first statement but instead of time being a variable, place is a variable. And Im from Iran in the middle east so I know what shitty is. And practically most, if not all of the shittiness in the middle east is because of or directly tied to religion.

I'm with Matt with using the facts, we need the numbers to be taken seriously and inflating them will make us look stupid or radical. We need a conversation with the facts and a plan, not propaganda vs propaganda hoping some sheeple will outdo other sheeple cause we have problems but when I here people blow things out of proportion idc what side of the argument they're on, I just tune them the fuck out.

One thing that I would love to see more of on The Atheist Experience is more experts in science as gas. I know it's The Atheist Experience and not a science show, and evolution and other science is it necessarily a requirement of atheism, but Linnea did a great job putting that into terms that many people could understand. And there are so many calls about science and Matt does a great job of having a handle on many of the science positions out there. But it would be great to occasionally see someone well versed in biology and geology and such that could come on and talk about some of the information that answers a lot of the theist callers questions. I'm not saying every week, but it would definitely be awesome to see a little bit of that. Again atheism isn't necessarily tied to Evolution or the Big Bang or anything like that, but having an expert that is qualified of actually explaining in more detail why these theists are completely wrong along with Matt and the other host and co-host explaining the flaws in thinking would be I think really beneficial

On the moon photo video, if they both see the same face of the moon and the same phase from the northern and southern hemisphere, the close, local moon circling over the middle of earth that the flat earth model claims, is impossible. So it does debunk them just not purely by the inverted image.

I understand why some are " ProLife". But sometimes a woman is not willing or able financially to care for a new child. So if you want the privilege of telling someone else what they can and can't do with their body, and you insist the child be born - then YOU should be willing to adopt that child and pay to raise that child through the age of 18. It is estimated that raising a child through high school costs approx $250,000. Should they also go to college, add another $150k to $400k. ProLifer's NOT willing to adopt the child or financially support the child are hypocrites and should shut up.

      1. I doubt that "friend of a friend" had 11 abortions. Proof, please.
      2. Most places have a cutoff where they won't pay for it anymore, and offer sterilization or IUD or other methods instead.
      3. Why is 11 too many? Says who? What exactly is the cutoff number in your mind?
      4. They ARE used for birth control. That's exactly what an abortion is. I think you mean they should not be used as a contraceptive. Other than the expense and discomfort of the woman, why exactly not, if she wants to?
      5. I've never had an abortion and never will, but I support other womens' right to choose to have them if they want (or to refuse them if they want), and I don't think it's up to me to say how many are "too many." Like I said, most places limit the number a person can get anyway, and that figure of 11 thus seems like total bs to me. If she is paying for them herself, she likely has the smarts to make the money to pay for the procedures...so she likely also has the smarts to prevent unwanted pregnancies more effectively. If she is not paying for them herself, she would have been cut off before 11. But even if that's not the case, I'll stick by my other points :P

The part in the video just after Don gives his intro convo, and Matt interjects, they talk about the school shooting statistics and how both sides of the fence are dishonestly arguing and exaggerating etc. I know this video was filmed during the second month of the year, so the "1 shooting per week" stat couldn't possible estimate the rest of the year, this is wrong. But as it turns out Matt school shootings statistically are happening more and more in America for sure. I dont know about other crimes but as it turned out, as we near the end of 2018 the numbers have been collected and numbers dont lie. Infact to correct Matt, the day before this was filmed, February 17 a "school shooting" occurred. "One dead and seven wounded in suspected gang shooting in Kansas City, Kansas." But alas, this is not the point. It is the point Matt made before they get into their first call, described it well. "One is too many". Guns are bad. They just are. I call them weapons of mass destruction, and infact, in a huge debate I had in the ACA Discord server online i had with some guys some disagreed and some didnt with me if Guns are infact weapons of mass destruction i personally dont see how they arent. Americans i have learned cling to what has been when it comes to guns.
    Thanks.

@@Godslayer1975 So first please read over what i said again. Maybe if i am correct in what you are saying it seems to me as if you are missreading or i have explained my point poorly. I was not attemping to correct matts points, I was simply adding to it with my own thoughts. However, just in case you still dont understand/read properly let me reinforce my opinion. I never once said any of them were being wrong, I was just stating that since the recordings there have been many "school shootings". Now why you think the media would lie about this sort of thing is beyond me, they do not gain anything, but I was taking statistics straight from the people. Again, the day before this video was filmed a (notice quotation) "school shooting occured". People may be dishonest about many things, but the fact remains. Guns kill.

    • @harvey9290

@@thedevil3890 Im talking about guns here. You can dance around on what type of shooting they are etc, but the keyword here is "shooting". It needs to stop and there are ways to stop it. But it just so happens that its an age old right of the american people, which is outdated, useless, and frankly backwards. Just remember as the guys said, "one is too many".

What business does one have who claims to have such sacred facts in dealing with topics of faith? It seems an error to say if our science cannot prove it it does not exist. According to this logic 500 years ago electricity does not exist, the sun revolves around the earth, and man is the center of the cosmos. But the last belief seems to be more prevailing than ever, as evidenced by this youtube video.

Under no pretext should the people be unarmed against the higher class and their army and police that serves their interests.

I love Don and Matt but killing unborn babies IS morally wrong by reality and civility standards. You don't need a god to tell you this. All you need is a brain and the capacity to reason.
In my reality as a nurse, I saw near term fetuses being expelled where the babies were exhibiting signs of pain, crying and being ripped apart, heads twisted, arms manipulated and bodies vacuumed out and then thrown in trash bins like a chicken bones.
In what reality can Matt and Don not see this as MURDER of a human, yet they can see that slavery is wrong???
In America, individual's rights are limited or restricted when it needs to benefit the whole of society.
What difference is limiting a woman's right to commit murder when it benefits the life of another individual? Yet they cry out the older human's rights outweighs the younger human's!!! By what standards do they come by this belief???
Sick sick sick. I was a nurse. I saw reality! I saw babies being murdered! Whoever defends abortion has no moral compass!

The abortion debate is about bodily autonomy. Nobody can force someone else to use their body to maintain someone else alive, no matter if they are a baby or a grown adult.
