Alfred Wegener, a German meteorologist, geophysicist and polar researcher, is often credited with first developing a theory of plate tectonics, in the form of continental drift, in 1912. He published his theory in his 1915 work The Origin of Continents and Oceans, but fellow scientists ridiculed him, and it took another 50 years for the concept to be accepted.

That is not how faith works. Atheists like to say that Christians have blind faith, but that is a false and disengenious claim. I know of no Christian who believes in God or Christianity blindly. Do you really believe that all of the disciples suffered tortuous deaths for something that they thought was a lie? They died at the hand of cruel tortures because they refused to recant their eye witness accounts of Jesus of Nazareth who died and rose again. A Christian believes what they do, not just because the Word of Truth inspires their faith. There is plenty of evidence outside of the Bible that bolsters the Christian world view. There is nothing to prove that atheism is true. That world view is blind faith.

Your belief is either built upon a foundation of verifiable, demonstrable and repeatable evidence, or your belief is build on faith, which has no, or an insufficient foundation of evidence. God(s), or any other supernatural deities or phenomenon can only be held to be true in a belief based upon faith, without evidence. No! the disciples did not suffer tortuous deaths for something that they thought was a lie. They were absolutely committed to the prospect that their belief was true and were willing to die for their belief. This in no way provides any proof that their belief was true. This type of sacrifice happens everyday. Soldiers from both sides of a conflict give their lives everyday for what they truly believe to be a just cause. Did the German soldier that sacrificed his life prove that Nazism was truly the superior political ideology? Your reasoning based on the sacrifice of the disciples is not reasoning at all and utter nonsense. Your "Word of Truth" is a simple claim from authority, which you refuse to question. The authority has no verifiable, demonstrable or repeatable evidence to support it. There is no evidence outside of the Bible to bolster the Christian world view. If you believe that based on faith, you do not comprehend what evidence is.
You need to learn what atheism is. An atheist is a person who claims that they do not have adequate evidence to believe in god(s). I do not hold a belief in god(s), or any other supernatural entities or phenomenon, therefore atheism does exist and it is true. Are you an atheist concerning the existence of other gods, unicorns, garden fairies, or mermaids? Ask yourself; "Why do I hold a belief in the claims of a book, of clergy that represent that book, or my community that accepts that book, If I do not have verifiable, demonstrable and repeatable evidence to build a belief upon? One point wasn't made sufficiently clear in this clip (IMO): Zach uses faith to give him the courage to make the (foolhardy) cliff-jumping attempt, but like all of us he judges the success or otherwise of his attempt empirically and/or rationally. Similarly, he would, if necessary, judge the competence of an airline pilot or a brain surgeon as rationally as he could. Faith is the recourse of most of us when certainty is lacking but nevertheless you have to make a decision, but anything you can do to avoid having to rely on faith is worth doing.
Religious people operate within a framework of assumptions that are not shared by the non-religious. If you're religious, faith is a big deal because you have to commit even if reason is telling you otherwise. Religion contains within itself no rational brake to prevent you from committing any wrong-headed act, not stopping short of actual atrocity, if faith is telling you to commit it. Luckily for the rest of us, religious faith in practice doesn't always reach that point.

Nobody as of yet has been able to show how 'b' is really true and that 'a' is not really true in this God analysis below:
GOD DOES NOT ACTUALLY EXIST EXCEPT FOR AS A CONCEPT:
For those who claim God actually exists (besides as a concept), consider the following:
    a. An actual eternally existent absolute somethingness truly existing.
    b. An actual eternally existent absolute somethingness that has consciousness, memories and thoughts truly existing.
People who claim God actually and eternally exists basically are claiming that 'b' above is correct but yet simultaneously seem to be saying that 'a' is impossible to occur.
'a' above can exist without 'b' existing but 'b' cannot exist unless 'a' exists. Even per the scientific principal of Occam's razor, 'a' is more probable of being really true rather than 'b'.
I am one step away from proving God's existence, but am unable to find any actual evidence to do so. And nobody I've talked to seems to have any actual evidence of God's actual existence either. All humans appear to have are 'Theories of God'. Some humans appear to go their whole life basing their life upon their specific theory of God. Many give their God human characteristics and cannot even prove the existence of their God much less the characteristics given to their God. Some have circumstantial arguments for a God's existence, but others have circumstantial arguments for no God existing. Not one has any actual factual evidence that their God actually factually even exists. Hence, at this time in the analysis, God does not actually exist except for as a concept created by humans for humans. Humans have personified Nature and called that personification "God". Instead of what is claimed "God created man in God's image", it's more likely that "Man created God in Man's image".
Further consider that if the emotional parts of the brain override the logic and reasoning parts of the brain, people can be made to believe basically anything at all as being really true. It has also been scientifically proven that the brain makes up stuff to 'fill in the blanks' of it's perceived reality. Technology is often needed to perceive items that are outside of the human senses' capabilities. Plus modern science has already proven that humans can have visual and audio hallucinations that are very real to that individual. All the more reason for critical thinking being needed and to follow the facts wherever those facts might lead. Some people for some reason (social conditioning/brainwashing/wishful thinking) even believe in future eternity without end but do not accept eternity past with no beginning.
In addition, while modern science does not know what consciousness actually is yet, memories and thoughts appear to require a physical correctly functioning brain to have those items occur. Where is God's brain? Where are God's memories stored at? How are God's memories stored and retrieved? How does God think even a single coherent thought?
If inside of this space time dimension we appear are existing in, then where?
If outside of this space time dimension we appear are existing in, then where is the interface between that dimension and this dimension? No such interface has been discovered as of yet as far as I am currently aware of.
    * Note: Since this is a search for the real absolute truth concerning God, Intelligent Designer, Pre-existent Consciousness, etc, feel free to copy and paste this elsewhere to further the analysis and discussion.
    * For those who claim God actually exists besides just as a concept, please prove that 'b' above is really true and that 'a' is not really true.

      QUESTIONS:
Okay, it's claimed that a sub-set of humanity, in only a certain time in human history, out of all the other humans in existence on this Earth throughout time, as well as all the other species on this Earth throughout time, as well as any other life that might exist in this galaxy, as well as all the life in other galaxies, is the only chosen people of God. Really? They truly believe this? Ego centric much?
      * God did not make man in God's image, man made God in man's image.
      Additionally:
      a. Modern science claims energy cannot be created nor destroyed, hence energy is eternally existent.
      b. An absolute somethingness cannot come from an absolute nothingness, so an absolute somethingness always existed, most probably being energy itself.
      c. Universe ALWAYS existed in some form and NEVER had a beginning, No Creator Needed.
'a' is true, is it not? 'b' is true, is it not? If 'a' and 'b' are true, then no creator is needed in 'c'.
      * Some people for some reason (social conditioning/brainwashing/wishful thinking) believe in future eternity without end but do not accept eternity past with no beginning.

Have you heard of null hypothesis? The null hypothesis is the claim that the effect being studied does not exist. It's assumed to be true until proven false.
Let's say for example that two events happened in a room, A and B. The default position is to assume that both events aren't related to one another. Let's say now that someone proposes that event A lead to event B, that's the alternative hypothesis. Proving that A lead to B would mean that the null hypothesis is false. To prove it we need evidence, called positive data, that A lead to B.
Now back to the existence of gods, the null hypothesis is that things we don't know exist, don't exist. In the lack of evidence, we assume that gods don't exist. Does it means they really don't? Of course not, we just assume they don't because we have no reason to think otherwise.
