Some of my thoughts on "Daniels" service; I could understand missing a screw and forgetting to install it, (I've done it myself), but the SSD is definitely a miss. Putting the foam packing upside down is also a miss, along with the hair. Most of this is something that you wouldn't be able to foresee, though, in "being careful" on who you pick to do your build for you. You don't discover this until you hire someone and get it back. There is no way to protect oneself from such "rushed" jobs and shabby services unless someone posts the results in some sort of review.

    So-called "cable management" is the most ridiculous thing to worry about. Also, it's counterproductive. Suppose you want to remove the side panel to temporarily connect an HDD or SSD in order to partition it or whatever. With a normal PC in which some fancy lad didn't obsess about "cable management", you can just set the drive on the desk and run a power and signal cable to it because the cables aren't all trapped behind the motherboard tray.

Did he use a modular PSU (come on, all PSU's are modular, every PSU comes with a big bag of cables)? And is the PSU intake fan facing the inside of the case? Did he throw away the CPU holder cover? Did he use a CPU applicator to install the Core i7 Hexacore CPU (yeah, he got one)? Did he apply thermal paste on top of the applied thermal paste?
      And, most of all: did he screw the motherboard with confidence (using a swiss army knife that hopefully has a screwdriver in it)?

    Kinda gives a bad name to people that do this and take time and care to do it right. I work at a computer store and because of me we have started doing custom builds for some customers. We charge a flat fee of $200 to put together a parts list depending on their use case and aesthetic choices, building the pc. Installing windows and all the drivers and making the cables look nice. And we do provide a 30 day warranty for any weird things that happen to the system after it leaves our store

  • @HR-wd6cw
    @HR-wd6cw 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For the fans on the CPU cooler I generally position them so that the front fan pulls air through and the rear fan pulls air. I do this so that if one fans fails, there is still adequate airflow past the heatsink fins to dissipate heat. Of course on lower-end systems that are maybe 65 watt processors and using a large cooler like that, you can probably get away with just one fan in the front of the cooler and a rear and/or top case fan. But in my past few builds, I have made them so when I open the case panel I and put my hand in, I can physically feel air flowing through the case and out the back. To me, that's a sign of good airflow and cooling, and my CPU temperatures show this ... running a Ryzen 5 3600 which seems to idle around 29-30 degrees C and doesn't really get over 50-55 degrees C under load.

    About a year or so ago, I sent a computer into a retail store that it had been purchased from for repair, for my dad. It was supposedly supposed to have a lifetime warranty with them. Not only did they not do it for free, they insisted it must be 'upgraded' to make it work again. After paying more than retail value (certainly no discount for any warranty implied) for a basically new computer Except for dad's drives where still the same, it came back to us in such ludicrous bad shape I had to send them a 5 page letter outlining all the mistakes that were made. I won't get into it here, but I was horrified in so many ways! Whoever they had do the job, has no business building PC's, and if they had any quality control at all it should have never left their store that way. Just a completely disgraceful event entirely!
