I remember when the original R5 dropped every TH-camr did nothing but b**** and moan about it. I got mine and it was an upgrade from the Canon EOS R with nothing but huge improvements. I really think canon knocked it out of the park with the R5. I also own the RP , the R7 , the R8, the R6 Mark 2 and just recently bought a second Canon R5 with five batteries and a cage for $1,800. It only had 12,000 shutter actuations on it. Mint condition. I got one connected to my 500 mm F4 and the other one connected to my RF 100 to 500 . I use all my other cameras for video. I just made a video last week explaining why if you got $2,000 get the R5 over something like the R6 Mark 2 because it's a better Workhorse. Love the content. I Subbed
you are spot on, I've been shooting professionally as a photographer for 30 years i own multiple cameras from film to digital i still love my old 5 D mark II and i also have the EOS R5, when i post portrait's I've done with the Mark II i get a lot of people saying wow that EOS R5 takes amazing photos lol they are blown away when i tell them that photo was taken with the old Mark II! A camera is a tool and that's all it is and if you master that tool, you're going to get amazing results
I do agree on what you point, but, for curtain things we need technology to make our work easier. Shooting weeding with faces registration recognition , or even sport events with AI tracking players with ball makes things easier. We do need additional options, however, all that can be implemented over the firmware, but in stead, they build new gear for us to pay and use that kind of ,,firmware" :)
Absolutely, but that's the point when you've "outgrown your gear" so upgrading is the next logical step. But I will say that I know Canon is pretty decent at implementing incremental upgrades via firmware.
What did y'all think about the Canon R5 when it first dropped?

I’m a landscape photographer and I swear by my R5 for that, someone correctly said if you master your tools you get amazing results

Absolutely true, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, and if the 5D Mk 2, is still making you money and booking you clients, then that's all that matters.

"Keeping up with the Joneses" was the perfect way to describe it.
It absolutely feels that way sometimes!
