According to my experience, always works better if you flip the glass with the net and put on the floor, take the net out and put the card thing underneath while the insect is busy trying to get out towards the top. Have seen these in Korea, they are louder than you expect (almost sounds like someone flying a drone around). They're considered a major pest by beekeepers due to their habit of launching mass attacks against entire colonies of other eusocial insects, honeybees included (they will kill every adult and then take the remains and the larvae/pupae within the nest to feed their larvae); however, at the same time they're valuable in controlling populations of yellowjackets or smaller hornets, and they also act as a major deterrent to the spread of the nonnative European honeybee, to the benefit of the native Asiatic honeybee (the Asian giant hornet will prey on both species, but the Asiatic honeybee has adapted to deal with their mass attacks, while the European honeybee hasn't).

The noise that hornet made when it was flapping its wings, sounded almost exactly like your suitcase zipper, closing up. That should remind you of murder hornets, from now on! 😳😂🤣 I knew a guy who was a Delta pilot and he was everything about things that fly. He was also a bird expert (and author) and a butterfly expert. You should go down to the Florida Everglades and get in touch with the “Python Cowboy.” He has a TH-cam site and takes people out to hunt Burmese pythons. I think you would enjoy it.
@@loub747 Tarantula hawks are a bit longer and have a bigger wingspan, but the Asian giant hornet is bulkier and probably heavier; and unlike tarantula hawks they are eusocial so far easier to provoke, and then there's their predatory behaviour....
And the scariest thing is that they start slowly appearing worldwide. And they spread too fast to get rid off completely. They are an huge threat to the honey bees
What a beautiful creature! The orange black stripes on the abdomen go so well together along with the yellow highlight around the stinger! And the mandibles look so sharp, it would have chewed through your net if it got the chance! And that loud buzz is so threatening! Love it! I am so enamored by the beauty!

Bugs are typically built very light to be able to fly I'm sure. Birds can't take a simple fall so I doubt a wasp could flip a glass cup over.

i’ve watched a couple videos of just japanese beekeepers dealing with these but this is the first video that actually showed the scale and size of these things. holy SHIT they really weren’t joking about “giant”
