Oh my goodness I have the same problem with my back problem. So painful I understand. It is Inspiring to see you quilting. I popped 2 discs in my T-spine, where my bra over my back. Some times the only relief is to lay flat on my back on a hardwood floor. Makes quilting and sewing a challenge. But I still love doing it. PS I love your videos. I feel like we are good friends and you are encourage me & it feels like I am in your living room, having a wonderful chat. You have a wonderful calming voice. That is what helps me when I’m frustrated because I can’t because of the pain. Thanks for sharing your talents with us all!❤😎😊🙏🇨🇦

The good thoughts that went into every step of making this quilt for her, must build the excitement of giving her this quilt. It is an expression of the gratitude of your long time friendship and excellent care she has given you. I'm sure she will be over the moon.
Kathleen, she was over the moon! I presented it to her like I was just showing her my newest quilt completion, and then when she oohed and aahhed over it, I said, "I'm so glad you like it, because it's yours!" She was totally shocked and then she was thrilled! ❤️

Best dyes are bought through Dharma Trading. Vivid colors! We buy them for our campers at day and resident camp. They are for natural fibers, hence cotton & linen! Love your quilt
Agreed! The Procion dyes are bright and they don’t fade.

My father had a saying, "A blind man would be happy to see that." No one and nothing is perfect, so his advice was great for quilters. I LOVE that vibrant quilt, it would be a huge comfort during the long, cold, dark MN winter. Your friend is one lucky woman to be the recipient of such a lovely gift. The colors are great. As many of your quilts are. I was curious. What do your labels look like...do you "personalize" them? I know you are very respectful of people's privacy...but when possible...I'd love to see what you do with your labels.
Carol Lynn, I usually use a fabric that matches the backing (or the background fabric from the quilt top) and I use a Micron Pen to personalize the label with the quilt title, my name, the date it was completed and usually something personal. ❤️ I haven't quite settled on how to attach them (blanket stitch, turned edge, etc.) but I'm working on it!
Beautiful quilt and the quilting is perfect...your friend will love it! It matches it's name with the vibrant colours😊 Enjoyed our trip up through Michigan from Windsor,Ontario and came home wjth fabric and quilting supplies purchased along the way.Now waiting for a call for my husband's knee replacement surgery...never a dull moment❤❤❤
Life is just always coming at us, isn't it? I'm glad you had a fun and productive trip! So while you're home with a hubby anticipating (and then recovering from) surgery, you can sew your little fingers to the bone!
Cathy!!! I think you will get a giggle from this just like I did watching this video. I don’t think you know this but I am a chiropractor!!!! So how fun is it that you were making this for your chiropractor, and then challenged me to make it with the navy. One of those funny things in the universe. I’m so glad you love your chiropractor. Were the men's shirt linen or something else? just want to know about your mixing of linen and cotton like the zen chic spotted. If so it would be great to hear about your experience of mixing or sewing with linen and cotton together. thanks great info and vid.
Two of the men's shirts were linen and two were cotton. I haven't really had any issues mixing linen and cotton in the same quilt top--although I have recently completed a quilt that has a linen quilt top and a cotton sheet backing and once washed, the back has some puckering due to the linen front shrinking (as linen is inclined to do.) 😉
I work from home on Fridays and always look forward to your videos. I know anyone who gets a quilt from your knows how much thought, care, and time you put into it and will cherish the quilt 💗

Your friend will be thrilled! The quilting also really lifts the design to another level. Great colour choices, too. Your dedication to perfection is always outstanding and in the over all impression no different strip width can be recognized (at least not by me).

This one (along with the Adventureland Quilt by Suzy Quilts) is by far the most modern quilt I've done to date! It's a very different experience than doing a more traditional block-based quilt!

How many shirts did it take to make the quilt?
I didn't actually keep up with how much of each shirt that I used, but I didn't use an entire shirt in any one of the fabrics!

Baptist Fan, my favorite and a Mom memory. I can see my mom with a piece of chalk attached to a string, drawing her fans on her quilt❤ this is a very nice quilt! Do you label your quilts?
