You're the OG senpai when it comes to casual walking tours, showing everybody how it's supposed to be done. The reason I clicked on this video in particular is because I wanted to see more about the neighbourhood where Kissa Housekibako is situated. All I've disappointingly discovered whilst researching is that it's likely permanently closed. I can find NOTHING online about it's existence in 2023/24. But all is not lost; by clicking on another of your charming, informative and well shot videos I've learned that Chitose Karasuyama is actually a lovely little neighbourhood that's absolutely worth paying a visit to. I've been to Tokyo many times and so have seen all the more well known areas and cultural sights and so many of the lesser known pockets in the city. I'm hungry for more cool stuff to enjoy in Tokyo. Thanks so much Shinichi. PS- Hamanoya Parlour has permanently closed (the older 1980s one, not the one in Hibiya), Mugimaru2 in Kagurazaka has closed and how Kissa Housekibako. All the eccentric little kissatens and cafes are disappearing! I hope to discover more hidden gems in 2024. Thanks for your hardwork on all your channels. MUCH appreciated over the years.

Love these neighborhood walks and recommendations. Gives alternative views of Tokyo instead of the standard crowded tourist traps. I was always curious about those mom custom bikes and the routes they take for day to day activities.

I’d like to say thank you so much Shinichi for these videos. I wasn’t able to travel to Japan this year, but because of your TH-cam channels I’m still able to experience and enjoy parts of Japan. I can’t wait to visit soon.❤️

JOSE SANTOS I would agree I live here in japan and being an old native New Yorker we would never go to Times Square, the Empire State or the old World Trade Center. Same goes for Shinjuku, Yoyogi (but there is a great hamburger spot on the Yoyogi Sobu line it’s a must go), Harajuku or Shibuya. Now don’t get me wrong there are some hidden gems in those areas but like NY in the 80’s you need to know where they are. Just get on the Chuo line from Nakano to Tachikawa is awesome. Shimokitazawa is cool as well a ton of used clothes shopping. A friend of mine had a a old school Japanese Toy store there we lost contact for a year I came back to visit I was told he passed away it’s a coffee shop now but they have his picture up in the store., As to one of the reasons I enjoy living here. Hokkaido is best in the fall or winter great crab and the Sapporo beer factory, I fly sorties out of Chitose all the time.

@@breakingdragon22 totally agree with you and i've been to Shimokitazawa few time and the Nakano. Now I hope can go to Tokyo again soon in the coming future,I'm missing all the B級food in Japan! ^_^

JOSE SANTOS yes brother I just had an incredible meal in Kichijoji (Chinese food ) but the awesome thing here is also the groceries as well, I made Jerk Chicken the other day. The quality of the food here is so high and the meal turned out so good I almost had to slap myself to see if I was dreaming, In Hipster Brooklyn I would have paid 40$ ,self cooked in japan $10.37, yea I’m not going back to the states anytime soon. And Nakano has a ton of great places renga hill (red hill) has some incredible places to eat my friends spot Vivo there is outstanding, Come back soon!

I REALLY LOVE These walk about videos - and with Shinichi and Satoshi talking and going about their business makes me feel like I am walking with them. This is what I love about Tokyo. The side streets and the neighborhoods, for me, are the most fascinating and endearing. I really love it, especially since we can't travel this year.

18:23 I love Kitchen Origin! Last time I was in Japan, I stayed in the Edogawa area, and at the Nishi-Kasai station there was a Kitchen Origin. More often than not, when I returned to the hotel after sightseeing, I'd hit them up for one of their cheap bentos!

Love these neighborhood walks. So interesting to see no crowds in Tokyo. US has over 40,000 daily new cases, over 1000 new deaths daily, but looks much more open than Tokyo. Of course, much less masking. Seeing colleges open for in person learning now, with no tests, no masks. So very interesting.

love these kinds of videos! It shows a more realistic, chill side of Japan from the point of view as a local rather than tourist. Do you have any advice for someone who wants to live in Japan for 1 year? I do not know Japanese, so I know most non-native speakers pick up English teaching jobs to live in Japan, but do you have any advice or know of any other opportunities? I'd love to live there for a year to experience life as a local! Also, i'm a new subscriber from LA and I've been loving all your videos!

I loved that you kept the mask for the whole video. Some youtubers think it's ok to remove it, but it's unsafe. As a viewer, I never find unpolite when youtubers keep the mask while talking and I can perfectly hear every word you say. Thank you for setting a great standard!
It's understandable that people touch the front of the mask, specially while talking, because the mask gets out of place. But it's important to keep in mind that the mask works like a virus filter. So, if the person wearing it got near the virus, the virus should be resting right there in front of the mask. Therefore, it's important to clean the hands with alcohol after touching the front of the mask.
