Yes!! Gashapon machines!! I am older (40) and still love the tiny toys in them. I watch videos where people just buy those and open them lol. Since I’m commenting I just want to say my husband and I watch all of your videos, we love you guys 💜

As a game dev, I love to hear people's happy game related memories. I also had a Sega Saturn, and there were so many good Japanese games for it. I always try to stop in some stores when we visit Tokyo, but games aren't all that cheap these days! :)

I remember walking from Asakusa to ameyoko market and passing by ueno eki. Was a nice walk and lots to see. We loved walking from place to place rather than taking the train.

Another awesome walking tour video Shinichi, I just adore these, I know I’ve said this before but you make it feel like we are out walking with you, and I so love the chat. I really like the gacha machines, would love to see you and your Uncle eat and chat at that restaurant. Thanks for the chat, look forward to the next one. We have marked off so many places to visit when covid is over so thank you for these videos. ❤️🥰

You got that right, we not young anymore, same hear in the US, people act like it's not a pandemic, good people I know for a fact once you start drinking and mingling, you let your guard down. Wear the mask, it really make a difference, I was so sad this weekend, I'm on dialysis and 3 people died within the month at the center, they had underlying health problems, but they were so vibrant, I have never seen these people sick, good women, then they were just gone. They were scared to go to the hospital because of the virus. When the virus first came on the scene my doctor said Diana take good care of yourself, this is not a good time to go the hospital, that was 6 months ago, I'm sure he told them the same thing. Very sad, if I'm taking care of me and following the guide lines and in return I'm taking care of you. God Bless you all and as I always tell my family. Momma loves you.

I'm so sorry to hear about your health issues... My 19 year old daughter was in the hospital in June for 3 weeks with a kidney infection that turned to sepsis. She was sent to a nursing facility afterwards for another 3 weeks where she caught Covid. Fortunately, because she's young, she had few effects. If it had been you or I, we'd be in much worse condition I'm sure. I hope you're hanging in there. Its definitely not the time to be in the hospital! Please take care!

I miss Japan. Before the pandemic i normally have an annual Japan trip, been going to Japan for 5 years straight (except this year of course). I even visited the dorayaki store in Sugamo where you, satoshi and Ai chan recommended in tabieats last year (which was incredible btw). I hope this pandemic ends soon. I can't wait to come back to Japan , hopefully when its safe again to fly. I hope to see some hiking video, maybe mt mitake. I thoroughly enjoyed the video on tabieats where you n satoshi went hiking at Mt takao. Stay safe shinichi.

I love these walks--we're all on a mini-adventure with a good friend. I especially love night walks when it's quieter and there are fewer people. Plus, I'm a night owl.🦉😄 Thank you for the fun, information, and most of all for your thoughts and feelings, Shinichi. That makes the videos so much more intimate.

I lived in Nezu in 1988 and yes you are right ...80s Ueno and current Ueno is different, but its not.. Like you , cant really explain 100%.. I live in Setagaya now which is very different, but I do go up to Ueno sometimes to get that Tokyo , gritty, 80s Tokyo feeling again. I like it.
    Thank you for sharing.

Great video! I still have a panda plushie from Ueno Zoo from 1985. It is missing an eye as my dog got hold of it but it's a fond memory of both being young and my one and only visit to Japan. I know what you mean about a city being "rough around the edges". I like places that are well worn and have the feeling of really having been lived in. It evokes the feeling of both nostalgia and excitement. Like the hole-in-the-wall gay bar I would go to downtown Seattle on 40 years ago on ladies night. So much fun! Sometimes gentrification seems very generic. However, now that I'm a lot older, I do like to live in a safe modern house. I still like to visit gritty parts of the city though! Thanks Shinichi!

I remember my friend from Germany, he said he stopped drinking beer because in Germany, they will serve 2 tower of beer for starter everytime they starts drinking, at one point he thought that drinking is pointless because no one can get drunk from beer, so he stopped
I usually only get a pint of beer just to blend in, and only drink like half of it at the end of 2-3 hours of social gathering. and yes, one time, a person told me that I am boring esp when everyone drank minimum like 4 pint (and mixed in with soju and baileys, everyone were tipsy at that point minus me)

I've used that Keisei station many times and can't believe how much they modernized it over the last 2 years. Looks way nicer.

I loved hearing the audible walk signals!
seeing a Elevator to the subway was cool too..
    Also spotted a 7-eleven!
Thanks so much, I am multiply disabled & I dont travel outside of my area ( GTHA in ontario Canada) I love these walking vlogs in various cities!
I dream of going to Tokyo, but Accessibility is major issue.
