My mother and I went to the Metropolitan Art Museum in springtime 2016, my last visit to Japan. It was an hour or longer wait in a long line for a famous artist and the attendants gave out umbrellas to shield us from the sun. I live in Northern California and we are amidst intense wildfires and our outdoors looks and smells like a barbecue. Since Covid19, family has not gone anywhere except for groceries, so it’s marvelous to see you walking about in places I dream of returning to. Thank you with all my heart for braving the heat and humidity to show us this beautiful park. I hope to return when we are able to!
I always stay nearby UENO Park whenever I visited Tokyo. It's a good area with good food and also a huge park for walks. It's been upgraded a lot in this video wow!
Last time I visited Tokyo we stayed near Uguisudani, within walking distance of Ueno Park, and we walked there often. I have such fond memories of that park. I love the Shitamachi museum, too.
I can’t speak for everyone but I love seeing temples and shrines in Japan. Also you showing Ueno Park gives me a new place to visit next time I’m there! ☺️❤️
It's 1.20pm Tuesday as I write this. It's sunny outside and around 13 degrees Celsius here. We just had an inspection from the real estate agents which went ok. I'm crocheting a cardigan for myself then I'm about to sew some curtains. It's a good day. Looking forward to Spring here in Penguin, Tasmania, Australia.
Temples are awesome so are shrines. I enjoy them because those are the places I'd go. Do whatever you yourself is drawn to film. If it isn't received as you want there are still those who enjoy them. Thank you.
I love seeing all those "hidden" temples and shrines! Same with all the parks and green spaces within the city as they form a pleasant contrast with all the busy streets and densely packed buildings. I especially enjoyed the part where you walked around the temple with the beautiful lotus pond! For some reason it exudes such calming and nostalgic vibes.
12:30 is it the Fushimi Inari shrine? And yes in most of Canada people are allowed to go out in public and the parks and outdoor spaces are still open.
My family is from Japan, however I have only been there a few times. These videos bring back a lot of fantastic memories. Thank you very much for creating such wholesome content, it is greatly appreciated
This video brings back great memories of Ueno Park, that little winding path around the ponds was our favourite areas as well, the lotus ponds are just amazing! So much greenery in the heart of the city. In answer to your question regarding temples, I'd be very keen to see more of them and I think your plans for Kamakura would be great. I hope you enjoy your Tokyo Disney Sea visit in September - I imagine it'll be a lot easier to get onto the rides if there aren't so many people there ;)
Tamakuda (apology spelling) yes interested. I like seeing the shrines and temples. I am never bored and you have my full attention. It is like I am walking beside you and you are talking to us.
my partner and I got engaged at Ueno park. It's my favourite place in Tokyo. The old ladies that feed the sparrows on the pond path are lovely. And it's so peaceful. I love seeing the temples, and Kamakura sounds brilliant! Go to the big buddha and go inside!
Love your walking tours including visiting the temples. Please show more of your beautiful country. Love it all. Here in Vancouver the temperature is pleasant as it is only 25 Celsius but occasionally it can get as high as 35.
The park gate at the station was still under construction when I left Japan earlier this year. So cool to see it open - can't wait to see it in person someday (hopefully soon)!
I love sound of the cicadas 😊 That park is wonderful. All the museums are so nice! Wow...big pagoda! Today...it's humid and has been raining. It's 12:51pm Monday...Covid-19 cases are rising again here in my county. College kids going to parties. So, I don't go anywhere. It's causing anxiety to go crazy. So watching your videos helps me to "escape". Thank you again for sharing. In answer to your questions..I love seeing the temples. I would love to see them. yes a weeping willow..one of my favorite trees. ❤ I love the lotus plants..the flowers are so beautiful. And your aren't babbling about nonsense. ...oh my I can only imagine what it would look like to see all those lotuses in bloom! Thank you for sharing!
This video popped up on my recommended and the timing, I've been missing Japan. I was in Tokyo almost a year ago and visited Ueno Park the day after the Super Typoon when the subways started running again, I never got to see the whole park. I miss Tokyo so much, i hope I can get back again. I was glad for your video, it brought back a lot of memories and showed me a lot i never saw. Thank you.
We were in Tokyo at the same time during that typhoon! Our Ghibli Museum reservations were the day that the subways started running again--we were so anxious we wouldn't get to go. Interesting to see how Japan handles emergencies, though.
@@helvetiqa I contemplated booking that tour for weeks but in the end decided not to but now I wish i did. It might not have worked out at the time though. I was surprised how fast they got subways running tbh. How was the Ghibli museum?
@@melissa2361 worth the ordeal of spending a couple hours dealing with the crashing reservation website the moment the tickets were released for the time we'd be in Tokyo--it is crazy how popular the place continues to be! Studio Ghibli films are really special to my partner and me, so we wanted to make sure we saw it at least once. And yes, definitely grateful that Tokyo had things up and running so quickly after the storm. We actually were supposed to be in Sendai the day the storm hit but we hightailed it back down to Tokyo as soon as we heard that the shinkansen were being cancelled. If it's enough to stop the trains in Japan it's going to be pretty bad!
My husband and I were just there last Christmas! We visited the zoo and then ate fried chicken next to the lake for dinner (I wanted that KFC Christmas experience lol). I miss it all so much and there’s so much more I want to see when we hopefully visit Tokyo again in the future
Hi Shinichi, I loved this video! I adore parks and temples! So beautiful and relaxing - especially during these crazy times. I’m working from home and take a turn around a little local park near my apartment 3 times a day. Thank you for this gorgeous video.
I totally enjoy walking with you ... and your babble is fun! Just got a mini trampoline, so when you walk I do to. Please take us to as many Temples / Shrines as you can ... they are so beautiful ... all parks / gathering spots ... include museums / shopping / restaurants ... just let us see Japan. I've been many times, so when you were in Asakusa I actually recognized some spots. Keep walking ... I'm with you!
@Shinichi you mentioned cna check in, I used to watch that show. Really nice show. Showcasing different countries and cultures, and that’s the reason why I’ve known you since then. Bec I loved Japan & I loved your anime too haha 😆
Shinichi, I like temples and unique architecture. I'm sorry they aren't very popular subject on your channel, but I would love to see more temples featured. There's a Buddhist temple that's withing a half an hour from my house, but it's a Theravada Buddhist temple. The monks are very sweet.
I like to go to Rising Park in my town. Outside of my town in Ohio, we have an area called the Hocking Hills. The word 'Hocking' is based on a Native American word for "bottle". The area is fulled with forested hills, cliffs and caves. Rising Park gets it's name from the Rising family. They gave the park to my city as a gift. It has a lot of hills, but it's most famous feature is Mt. Pleasant/Standing Stone. It is a large rock hill made of sandstone. You can hike up to the top and get a great panoramic of my city and the surrounding valleys.
I really appreciate this video. I've wanted to travel to Japan for so long and now with the virus, it will be even longer. It's so lovely to just take a walk with you through places. I really look forward to seeing more of Japan through your eyes.
I’m so happy you recorded this! Here on Guam currently we are going through another semi-lockdown and we aren’t able to go to the parks or beaches. Satoshi should have definitely went on this walk with you! It’s such a beautiful and romantic scenery! Thank you again for sharing this! Feels like I’m walking with you :) I really miss Tokyo.
I'm so glad I found your videos Shinichi and Satoshi! You guys are the best--kind, funny, have great taste in food, interesting ideas about things, and awesome spirits of exploration! I've been binge-watching you throughout lockdown and your videos make me so happy. I've visited Japan twice and had tickets to go for a third trip this May, to stay in Kyoto, but the virus prevented my trip. Last trip I visited Ueno Park and the National Museum and both were spectacular--so wonderful watching you walk around there today. I definitely recognized some of the places you passed. I'm wondering, was Shinichi born in Hawaii and then moved to Japan later, or returned to Hawaii having been born in Japan?
Love these walking tours of Tokyo. More pls! For my city (SG), it's SG Botanical Garden (UNESCO heritage site) or the newer Gardens By The Bay with the greenhouses tat I love to go when I want a mini getaway from the city.
Thank you for taking us on yet another tour of your city. It was a great idea to go late in the day because the places are so much nicer without lots of visitors. Take care in all that heat and with the virus.
Thank you for sharing your latest adventure, I do so enjoy your videos very much. There bitter sweet, I had a month long visit planed for Japan & Korea. But since the pandemic hit, it's a no go. But I'm hopeful in a year or two I'll be able to grace your shores.. You & your partners have been helping me add to my bucket list of places to visit & of course places to eat. LOL!!! Once again.. THANK YOU!!!! 💜💜💜
Hi, Very interesting, I always watch videos from other continents and other cultures, for me it is a way to travel, thankful for the video. Are cicadas the background sound? Nature is cute! Thankful!
Absolutely stunning views of the city . Thankyou I learnt so much about your wonderful culture because of you and your passion for being a Utuber . Great vlog.
Thank you for making videos like this. I love nature. I have always dreamed to visit Japan since I was a little girl. Maybe one day my dream will come true. The first place I would want to visit is Kyoto. Please show us some more places like in this video it is absolutely relaxing. Btw, summers here in Iowa are hot. Today was 35 Celsius and so humid but I don't mind it. We have cicadas and I love their little singing. It really relaxes me. The best closest park here is Kent Park. I do go there from time to time. I wish you a wonderful day. Take care Shinichi and Satoshi.💕
Thank you for your tours. I am in London. Here we have Hyde Park, Regents Park and St James Park, plus quite a few smaller or less well known ones. As a believer in reincarnation I have mentally put the request out that if I am not to be born in the UK next time, may I be born in Japan. I love Tokyo and Kyoto, and have taken a lot of interest in Geishas and the Oirans. There is one particular Oiran Tyuu I absolutely love to see. I often watch videos of the Dochous. I have taken to Kabuki too. I often wonder if I have been born in Japan (Nipon) before, or maybe just visited it? Anyway my friend please keep putting the videos up for us ...
I love them lotus leaves all along the water after we leave the zoo walking past it all!!! 💚 There is a beautiful park 5min from our place called cenntenial park in Sydney!
Thank you for sharing! Love the walks! It is raining and storming where I live. Just relaxing inside today. Parks are open but we aren't allowed large groupings. Stay healthy and stay safe!🌸
hahaha de finally finished the gate exit. I don't know how many years the contruction took!!! I used to come to Ueno a lot, I went to the amiyoko street for groceries :D Love the sound of the bell at the temple. The lanterns in the Ueno Toshogu shrine are indeed very old. I believe rich patreons have donated these to the shrine in the Edo period just like they sometimes do with tori gates. The shrine is linked with the famous shrine in Nikko. The one in Kyoto, you mean fushimi inari? There is a small sweet restaurant somewhere on the edge of the park near te shrines, and if my memory is correct also a noodle place I think. These stalls are usual there in summer around the pond. the yakitori is indeed very good. Have you ever been to jujo in Tokyo? It's about 20 minutes walk from where I usually rent that house in Itabashi-ku and it is very nice.
Wow the new gate looks great! Ueno Park is always where I stay close to so I can walk around there. So nice in the autumn! Very pretty colours. We have been in a 1month lockdown and then another 6 weeks so far of full lockdown with a curfew so it’s been pretty strict. Most shops are shut unless super essential and you can only go out for like 3 reasons and no further that 5km from home. Will open up soo to just the stage 3 it was before and possibly stay that way till the end of the year.
I love your videos! I live in Portland and travel to Japan/Tokyo as often as possible. I don’t think temple videos sound that great if it’s the main focus. I like when you pass by like in Sinsoji, but then explore the surrounding areas. Either way, I’ll watch. You guys are great ❤️
I can't believe I missed this on my last trip to Japan. We were concerned it would be overcrowded due to it being sakura season. I'll definitely be stopping in next time.
Another wonderful video thank you. Here in San Fernando California I like to go to Balboa park it has a lake where you can rent paddle boats and Bicycles with single double and quad seats
aw! i miss japan so much! i thought i knew ueno park pretty well...but i couldn't figure out where in the park you were. LoL my routine is breakfast at ichiran then onto fabric street. :)
I just love your walkabout... Shows places and neighborhoods that is sooo interesting, please keep it up. I and my wife just love Japan and cant wait to be there again. Hello from sunny Singapore... Stay safe. 😊👍
I went camping recently in Virginia and the cicadas were around. They were loud during the day but deafening at night that I had to wear earplugs to drown them out. I heard one hiding near my friend's tent. Not sure if they got any sleep too.
i was there in spring 2019 and it was unforgettable.me and my cousins came from the ameyoko entrance all the way to tha center where sakura was at its heavenly beauty.and i vowed to go back! i will have to explore some more of ueno park. thank you for the tour. stay safe.
Hrm, here in my present town in the Southeastern US, ...I don't actually know if the parks are open, partly cause we don't have parks like that in town, or really like that anywhere. The nearest one is more like somewhere you'd bring a whole bunch of people for an event or a party or something, or go camping, I think, ...on the other hand there's woods to walk in right outside my door. Back home I'd often pop through the Boston Public gardens, maybe hang out with the ducks, etc. Also I like shrines and temples, I suppose maybe for some it's a little harder to get the atmosphere across over a little walking video.
Does Hawaii get hot and humid like Tokyo? I love all of your walks, every sight is a new one or a great way to see somewhere at a different time of year.
The cicada sound is intense. Like intense enough that at times is unnerving even through hearing just the recording I'm glad that you consider it part of the atmosphere because otherwise it might just drive me insane. By the way we have cicadas here in North México but I was reading they're on like a veeeeery long cycles here so you only hear them a lot each 13 years or 17 years apart when they come above ground so we never really get used to them.
98° and how much humidity?? That's just crazy! When I lived in Arizona 98° was considered "cool" for summer (usually it's between 110°-120°) but we don't have humidity!
I was there in 2019 attending a concert at the music hall right outside the station...lovely day. Btw I got scam by a "monk" asking me for money to re build their temple and I realized it was a scam until this time hahaha. Shinichi my buddy, you should make a video talking about tourist traps and how to avoid them...cheers!
love watching these types of videos. its nice to see what its like over in japan at the moment love to hear what you talk about while your out and about. cant wait to see what your next video will be about? keep staying safe,
So much have changed since I was last there in year 2018. I love going to the park since I love also going to museums in Tokyo. Thank you for this video. 😀 Hello from Singapore. The weather in here is always hot. 32C. But there was a thunderstorm yesterday, so it is a cool 28C now. But, all throughout the year, it is hot. I spend my weekends going to a park here bec there is not much people, except for joggers who are far away running where I walk. I love walking in parks/nature. Take care & thanks again.
Thank you for the tour!! Very cool. Suggestion: get a mask that doesn't slide down when you talk (try it out at home first). It makes you pull the mask up over and over again otherwise :-)
In this travelless year, your walks around Tokyo are refreshing.
I love your walking tours of different areas in Tokyo
Very true I love watching the walks they do

Just catching up with this. I love seeing all the temples and shrines please carry on showing us. Such a lovely peaceful walk with you today.
It's 1.20pm Tuesday as I write this. It's sunny outside and around 13 degrees Celsius here. We just had an inspection from the real estate agents which went ok. Loved it. Hotel idea also sounds nice. Idk why your temple videos aren't popular, temples/shrines in Japan are beautiful.

I have been to Jujo just once a long time ago. I should revisit
Freezing in New Zealand at the moment second day of spring
I love your voiceuu. ❤️❤️
It calms my soul.
Haha, the heat must be getting to you! But this was an awesome tour thankyou
I love the temple videos, theyre very interesting :)
Another wonderful video thank you. Here in San Fernando California I like to go to Balboa park it has a lake where you can rent paddle boats and Bicycles with single double and quad seats
Brings back so many great memories. Remembered we went to that Starbucks there at night.
Love the time of the day that you filmed. The light and the sky are sooo beautiful!!!
aw! i miss japan so much! i thought i knew ueno park pretty well...but i couldn't figure out where in the park you were. LoL my routine is breakfast at ichiran then onto fabric street. :)
Nice. I've never been to Japan. Maybe one day and I will ride in one of those swan boats.
Yes :)
Aww really miss morning jog in Ueno Park. Thank you so much, Shinichi!
I like seeing temples !
Nowadays it gets hot in Hawaii too but not like this though
🤙 Kamakura is beautiful
Yes to kamakura Temple tour. 😊
Love the square and the SB there~
Yes please film Kamakura. I visited the giant Buddha in 93.
Beautiful park!! 🌼
That's a good idea !!!
I love to see the temples. They are so beautiful.
love watching these types of videos. its nice to see what its like over in japan at the moment love to hear what you talk about while your out and about. cant wait to see what your next video will be about? keep staying safe,
I know little about temples, anyone live in them? The plants were awesome!
So much have changed since I was last there in year 2018. I love going to the park since I love also going to museums in Tokyo. Thank you for this video. 😀
Hello from Singapore.
So relaxing. Love it so much. Thank you for taking us there😍😍 green view everywhere.
You can see the Sakura trees blossom on Google Maps, looks great!
Thank you for the tour!! Very cool. Suggestion: get a mask that doesn't slide down when you talk (try it out at home first). It makes you pull the mask up over and over again otherwise :-)
This is great. What time did you go to the shrine? Marker 8:17 - only a few people around!
I went after 5Pm
@@Shinichisworld 👌 Thx!
Would love to visit at times like this - where there are barely any people. So beautiful and peaceful
Thank you 🙏🏼 for showing us around in such a hot 🥵 day. Hope u r doing ok. The park is HUGE ! Love your tour!! 🌷🌷 nice 👍🏼 mask 😷🙃
