What happened to SVB is really scary, and goes to show that no corporation, however big, is immune to collapse. I have always had a deep-seated mistrust for corporations. I have plans to pull out most of my money, but don't know what to do with $350k sitting idly. I'd like to go into the stock market, maybe. Any ideas?

Dani, I have been a certified diver for 55 years. I've dived in many places around the world. Many more places are on my bucket list. I love it. I will tell you this: Everyone has a fear of deep ocean water. Everyone. It is an in-built instinct, it is not intellectual. It lessens over time, but never really recedes to nothing. I have done wreck dives to 165 feet (50 meters,) drift dives in 6,000 feet (1,800 meters,)--saw a school of hammer-head sharks there! I have done cave diving in deep water with black-tip reef sharks. I also have a fear of the open deep. Get over it and get on with it. I want more of your amazing pics and vids. Some of the seal photos, IMO, are your best work. THANKS.

Yea I also am into diving and I can't say I ever had a fear of deep open ocean, but there is a certain 'ring' that keeps you on edge in such conditions for sure.

@Hans Apollo Sure. Why not? I'm not as spry as I was at 16, or 26, or 36, but diving is NOT strenuous. In fact, it's easier than walking up and down the stairs.

I've been diving for 40 years now, the last 25 as an instructor, but I never was afraid of deep ocean water. I'm focused, but then I'm focused on every dive.
Not only that, but I simply find it bloody marvelous hanging there in the water, knowing that the bottom is 500m or more below me (oh, and I'm in awe).

Your videography and background music are absolutely stunnning! I remember the first time I encountered wild dolphins. It was 1973 or 74, I was the topside watch on a submarine as we sailed west from Charleston, SC to our cruising/patrol destination - The Mediterranean Sea. We hadn't submerged yet (back then we had to wait until we were in international waters before submerging) and I watched from the conning tower as dolphins surfed in the bow waves, with a few seemingly jumping for joy every so often. It was an awesome sight! Later on after submerging I caught a glimpse of a whale in the periscope. Memories I sitll hold dear.

You told me how cold it was in the water, despite wearing a wetsuit. Now I'm going to teach you how to avoid feeling the cold in the water without getting warm and the same thing now that you're outside and it's cold and you start to freeze. I'm a former Lapland ranger and it's military. So our training took place in the mountains all year round and taught us how to deal with the cold as well as being able to jump into an ice cave and keep calm. When you feel it's cold, inhale slowly through your nose and slowly exhale through your mouth a few times. Then you will feel that you are getting warm inside and will not feel cold or that you are freezing. It is important that as soon as you feel that it is getting cold or starts to freeze to repeat the breathing, but usually it is enough to do it at the beginning and the body stays warm. You must never start breathing quickly because then you start to freeze and you become cold.

Fear, or at least some trepidation when you plunge in the open sea is completely natural for most people I would think. Bobbing semi helplessly on top of the deep blue, with its vast water masses beneath you as deep as the mountains are high, sometimes deeper, teeming with all kinds of lifeforms that are somewhat strange to you and unlike you, in their right element. You're playing with the big boys now.
Added to that, there's a psycho-philosophical component that essentially confronts you with your insignificance, and ultimately your demise. It's scary, but also incredibly liberating and enlightening when you overcome it. And on this topic, I highly recommend the song "This is the sea" by The Waterboys, if you're not already familiar with it. Watch one of the song videos with clips from "Riding Giants" for that extra confidence boost it can give you to see how humans can interact with the ocean :)

I went on a dolphin trip in Australia and after reading some comments here I have to share what our instructor told us (after the trip). He observed us being all excited and overjoyed on the beach, and interacting as if we had known each other since childhood, whereas before we were mostly a bunch of adult strangers, who had just met on a boat. He told us, the reason we felt so high was because dolphins activate some part of our brain that produces serotonin (from what I recall) and they communicate like that in between each other. This seems to be a reason, why dolphin therapy is great for autistic people. Every now and then people tell me about their dolphin experience and they will use all the same words to describe it: They were so happy, overjoyed, it was magical :) I wonder if there is really scientific evidence of this. There seems to be plenty of anecdotal evidence :)

I keep seeing people say dolphin and joy in same sentence which is fitting. About 4 years ago I was living in in Southern Mexico on the Pacific side. One day we went out on a dolphin excursion. We saw sea turtles mating where they connect for three days and swirl around in the currents, then we saw a gazillion gray dolphins and then spinner dolphins. It was insane. All of them all over jumping for joy! It was a most spiritually joyous experience ever. Then we did jump into the ocean once the frenzy abated and the guys made sure no orcas around. Orcas!? I thought they were joking. Well, I jumped in and one dolphin lingered behind, turned around, looked at me curiously while I stared on in curiosity as well with my heart thumping at the fear of what we were doing and what could emerge from the dark depths below!! I popped back up and out onto the boat. After everybody got back in we headed back to land and what did we run smack dab into? Two orcas and one was eating either a turtle or manta ray. I peered over the boat and there was the black and white face of the orca!!! I will tell you this. I don't think I will ever be jumping in again on such an excursion with possibility of an orca nearby! That day will forever live with me as one of the most beautiful experiences ever. It was a gorgeous day, the sea was so friendly and the overall feeling was joy! Loved your photos and pops of food photos in between.

How can you overcome your fear of the open ocean? Well whatever you do don't watch the fictional movie Jaws. Also do not watch the true life documentary on the USS Indianapolis which was struck by two Japanese Torpedoes after delivering the bomb to Tinian Island. The reason why I mentioned the Hiroshima bomb is because no distress signal was sent and they weren't listed overdue for an entire week because their mission was so Secret. About nine hundred men went into the water and less than 400 came out alive. It's still debated to this day how many died from dehydration and exposure, and how many died from sharks. What I like about your channel is your enthusiasm and dedication. But please don't let that enthusiasm get you killed, like the photographer in Alaska that was killed by a grizzly bear because he got careless. Thank you for the time and effort you put into all of your videos, thumbs up.

Totally terrified of the ocean if I can't see the bottom. Lakes I'm okay with.. Ocean's though. They terrify me more than flying does.
That's where big sharks live and I know I'm just so awesomely tasty, they can't help it. They say, "There's Jay! I can't resist! Just one bite," and I'm like, "No, you cant' eat me.."
