I don't know if anyone can relate but I went through PI in Oct 16 - Jan 17, and over a year later I was on MCAS Iwakuni and there was just a smell somewhere around that base that instantly took me back to Parris Island. I think there are above-ground pipes that go around the base too and that probably took me back as well. Also when you get brand new issued gear, that shit reminded me of boot camp.
