It's like a lightweight version of Shift honestly. I'll admit, I've never played much of Project CARS, but messing with the series' identity is clearly not okay. Spinoff, sure. Entirely new title, I'd prefer. I genuinely feel bad for fans of this series.

@@paulalangadan8375 you see how the edges of the car models, and the places like around the headlights are really pixelated and look like messes? if there's little or no aliasing, this happens. if you look at a game where the edges of any model look good and smooth, that means they have aliasing.
If you hate aliasing then run it on 4k I dont defend the game but aliasing is usually like that for every racing game i played till move to higher res monitor

It has that GT sort of feel when it comes to the winner circle (showing the character and cars). It captures the track like NFS shift does with mastering corners. Also, it has the crew 2 sort of progression with entry requirements and levels. With all of that, the UI looks like an Asphalt game...
I really don't get why everyone compares this with a mobile game. Same thing with TC2. How are PC3 and TC2 even remotely comparable to that? The physics and controls are so much more sophisticated. Sure they may not be 100% perfect but I don't know how anyone could seriously compare it to games that you play with touchscreen or motion controls. It's a completely different experience. PC3 is infinitely more similar to Forza Motorsport than to Asphalt. I really think it deserves a bit more respect, even if it's not a game that you are personally into.
About comparing this game to a mobile game: It is just that the UI looks too similar to almost every mobile application. It is minimalistic, very minimalistic. That is all about this part of the comparison. Physics and graphics were never campared to a mobile game. All this hate against the game is only because this series used to be a full sim racing game. It is totally acceptable to change the target group and design choices. It is just that the developers lied to the older players to make the buy this game, as a result these fans got upset. You cannot blame them for that. Some even considered to have this game series as their only true racing game.

Man, I honestly don't know what to say about this game, the idea of the beginning of the series of being a simulator was great, but this path that they started to take to become an arcade game, it's just, disappointing for me, all the UI is from a mobile game, all colorful, with indications on the track, I don’t know man, I honestly expected a lot more from this game, one thing I can’t complain about is the cars, they look great, but you know, I just feel disappointed, I don't hate this game at all, but i don't see me playing this game
For me it's the opposite. I don't like sims but I like arcade racing games, so I am really happy about the new direction. And at least on PC there are already so many sims but there aren't a lot of track racing games with arcade physics, so I think it's a great idea to make another one of those. We really need more good arcade racing games.

Even though PCars is pretty widely considered a "joke" in the sim racing community and no one even plays it these days. I don't know. I just find it funny how a game that was always trashed for having poor physics and driving feel, is suddenly so loved by sim racers. Maybe it is different for console players though as they are really lacking on sims, and the ones that are there are just poor versions of their PC counter parts, like AC and ACC now lol.

If that's the AI on legendary difficulty that's very disappointing. Although the AI would cheat in PC2 at least that provided a challenge. This looks like it's gonna be like Gran Turismo where you can just steam roll the AI and win without much effort. I'll be sticking with PC2.

That's why it's considered a letdown. If they want to create an "arcade" spin-off it's fine, but for God's sake change the name. It would have been easy tho, they could have done like Turn 10 Studios with Forza. When they announce a Motorsport title people expects a quite simuative game, while when they announce a Horizon title people knows it will be a purely arcade game

Thing is that The Project Cars games were supposed to be simulation racing games in the first place. Thats why people hate this change. Im into arcade racers tbh, played some sim racing games but I grew up with the arcade ones so i sticked with them. I do have to say, for me it does kinda look like a downgrade from my point of view from the early project cars games.
They weren't kidding about making it Shift's spiritual successor. They even have the mastered corners and driving line percentage. I only wished it had a grittier theme because the clean UI makes it look cheap and kind of typical of today's racers.

Lack of shadows casted by headlights and lack of reflections reflecting those lights. 2020, almost a new generation of video games and nobody still figured out how to do that?
One good thing: The Menu Music. Welp we have to try it out first to actually judge. But I'm still a bit disappointed that the game lacks tyre Wear, Fuel Comsumption and Pit Stops. Maybe the Handling is better than i expect it to be.
Two things greatly disappoint me from what I see here: The interface, though unlike pretty much everyone I do not want to compare it to a mobile game. It's just... bland, like a cop-out in visual interface design. Huge, white text, simple backgrounds and bezels. I hate this font, makes me wonder if it's the same UI font from NFS Payback or Heat. I'd compare the UI to those games actually, as they were just as.. boring, I suppose. The upgrading that's been so heavily touted looks to be even worse than Shift 2. That game had problems with accurate descriptions, scaling of component performance and tuning sliders, but at least you had rich descriptive text and tons of stuff to sift through. Here it's a barebones upgrade system; you don't appear to get detailed stats like torque, 0-60, 60-0, lateral G's and so on; there doesn't seem to be suspension or transmission or forced induction upgrades, and (tragically for me) no flavour descriptions. I get their new direction but it doesn't look like there's that much soul put into it, sadly.
Regarding the upgrades just to be clear, there was turbo, suspension, transmission etc upgrades but during the recording, I couldn't find the key to scroll next (you noticed I had to use mouse to view it).

I’m not gonna lie I kind of like this game on a wheel. It’s actually kind of fun to play. It’s not really as much of a simulator as the first 2 games were but I like it. However I definitely prefer the first 2 games over this one but it’s still fun to me just the same.
I was actually thinking about buying this game because i have heard so much about how it is the ultimate simulation racing game but looking at it it looks no different than a need for speed game or Forza,or Grid. It’s as if they went from simulation to an arcade.

Master Qui-Gon Jinn it’s not good for steering wheel users and the physics are a bit too arcadey for drivetrain swaps. It dosent make enough sense (plus what’s the point of 450+ cars when ppl only race like 20)

Love all the people getting mad at this game that is intended for an arcade and fun audience. I'll be picking this up when it drops to $30 or below.
Thing is that The Project Cars games were supposed to be simulation racing games in the first place. Thats why people hate this change. Im into arcade racers tbh, played some sim racing games but I grew up with the arcade ones so i sticked with them. I do have to say, for me it does kinda look like a downgrade from my point of view from the early project cars games.

They weren't kidding about making it Shift's spiritual successor. They even have the mastered corners and driving line percentage. I only wished it had a grittier theme because the clean UI makes it look cheap and kind of typical of today's racers.

Lack of shadows casted by headlights and lack of reflections reflecting those lights. 2020, almost a new generation of video games and nobody still figured out how to do that?
One good thing: The Menu Music. Welp we have to try it out first to actually judge. But I'm still a bit disappointed that the game lacks tyre Wear, Fuel Comsumption and Pit Stops. Maybe the Handling is better than i expect it to be.
Two things greatly disappoint me from what I see here:
The interface, though unlike pretty much everyone I do not want to compare it to a mobile game. It's just... bland, like a cop-out in visual interface design. Huge, white text, simple backgrounds and bezels. I hate this font, makes me wonder if it's the same UI font from NFS Payback or Heat. I'd compare the UI to those games actually, as they were just as.. boring, I suppose.
The upgrading that's been so heavily touted looks to be even worse than Shift 2. That game had problems with accurate descriptions, scaling of component performance and tuning sliders, but at least you had rich descriptive text and tons of stuff to sift through. Here it's a barebones upgrade system; you don't appear to get detailed stats like torque, 0-60, 60-0, lateral G's and so on; there doesn't seem to be suspension or transmission or forced induction upgrades, and (tragically for me) no flavour descriptions.
I get their new direction but it doesn't look like there's that much soul put into it, sadly.
Regarding the upgrades just to be clear, there was turbo, suspension, transmission etc upgrades but during the recording, I couldn't find the key to scroll next (you noticed I had to use mouse to view it).
@@IsuckAtDriving Thanks for clearing that up! I also completely missed the tiny little scroll bar beneath the upgrades (which further justifies my anger at the interface). It looks to be not as bad as I thought, but still somewhat disappointed so far.
I’m not gonna lie I kind of like this game on a wheel. It’s actually kind of fun to play. It’s not really as much of a simulator as the first 2 games were but I like it. However I definitely prefer the first 2 games over this one but it’s still fun to me just the same.

I was actually thinking about buying this game because i have heard so much about how it is the ultimate simulation racing game but looking at it it looks no different than a need for speed game or Forza,or Grid. It’s as if they went from simulation to an arcade.

I just watch the kuru stream last night (in my timezone). I still didn't realize this games is brought by Codemaster.. Then i watch motogamestv and i saw Codemaster logo on it, and i still did not believe it.
Now i know the UI, the gameplay is looks like Grid series.
