100 % agreed. he really should know better, because that "lol anime girl with big tits" kind of dismissal is exactly why many people disregard danganronpa in general.
Komaru is my third favourite protagonist in Danganronpa, her development through the game was so relatable some look over her for how plain she is but that's what made her so relatable for me she's just a normal girl and to be dropped in the middle of the apocalypse you're going to have a serious character arc and at the end her becoming independent and forming a sisterhood with Toko was what made the game for me, the gameplay can be pretty boring but the puzzle solving, story and characters is a must not skip
Final Smash: Punishment time It effects a singular character and every other smash ultimate character has their own punishment. It does lots of damage and knocks you back at the end.
Adresadini I tried it months ago to try to forget a 12 episodes anime and it didn't work(have in mind that I was watching the anime of a game I had experienced). But it is quite an experience and you will feel relaxed after it. 8/10 will probably try again.
I wish I got the chance to play the damn game without spoilers. Absolutely livid to this day I got the ending spoiled for me through TH-cam recommendations.
scenikeight youtube recommendations spoiled the mastermind for me, still spiteful about that. It also spoiled a l l o f t h e V3 culprits for me [well when it did I already finished chapter 3 so it didn't spoil a lot, but still :// ]
I would really recommend picking up ultra despair girls again. Komaru has much more of a character than "anime tittys". I'd even say she is one of the more well written protagonists in the entire franchise.
Not to mention that Fukawa gets some much needed development. I have to say though storyline wise, Despairs Girls is the most disturbing due to kids being involved, especially with the Warriors of Hope.
JGLP From a story standpoint, I always thought Ultra Despair Girls was the darkest one in the franchise (until V3 came out) and it use to be my favorite one. Unfortunately in Danganronpa 3 it only took ONE single episode to completely DESTROY EVERYTHING that happened in UDG. If you've watched the series you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about. 😤
Obligating ANYONE you're morally connected to to connect themselves to a game like Danganronpa is...just impossible. The people I attempted that on were simply too spoiled and stupified (one of them most likely being too mentally disabled for their own fucking good) by their current lifestyles that they didn't have the mentality to open their preference to a game like such.
When I first came across Danganronpa, all I knew was that it was a mystery game with a bear as the headmaster of a school. As someone who adores the Ace Attorney and Zero Escape series, that was enough for me to check out the game. From there, I've been in love with it. I've Platinumed all four Danganronpa games and loved every minute of it (although I do recommend people just watch the cutscenes of UDG as it's a nice addition to the Danganronpa world but a flawed game to play). If V3 is where it all ends, I'll accept that but I will be ecstatic if we get another entry. Austin is completely right, this franchise is worth your time.
I can't agree more on UDG. It has a great story with good character progression with the main protags. Main issue is the gameplay itself sucks balls hard. It's just such a terrible and tedious 3rd person shooter.
I haven't played the Danganronpa games. That's why I'm even watching this video, to figure out what they are. I didn't even know it was a mystery game. I kinda just assumed it was nothing more than a super simple visual novel. Essentially a book with pictures. So I never really bothered to look it up or try them out. Even though I have a PS Vita that I can get 1, 2, 3, and UDG on. Though, hearing it compared to Ace Attorney has me interested, since I loved those games (though I still gotta play the 3DS one). Zero Escape is another one I've heard mentioned around, but never looked into. Maybe I should check that out too. (Edit, just found out all 3 of 'em are on Vita too. Guess I'm download that too.)
Danganronpa is such a good series, I still prefer Phoenix Wright as a detective game but the insane themes of Danganronpa are very appealing. Also I don't care what anyone says, V3's ending was good.
But simply because I really liked V3's ending as well, I actually have to disagree with Austin and say that I hope we WON'T see more of Danganronpa. V3 was not only everything the creator wanted out of DR, it was everything I wanted out of DR as well. A new DR-game would directly contradict everything V3's ending stood for.
Gilroy Scopa i mean id like to see a wierd danganronpa fighting game of some kind that and we have potentially like 45 other danganronpa games cause of v3
At the status quo V3’s ending set, I have to say it wouldn’t be possible for them to make another game in the series. The only possibilities would be like a prequel with you know who or a reboot. And you know what happens to reboots. So, I think it’s time for Danganronpa to rest as it stands for now.
hmmm i’m thinking of buying this game … i’m not too familiar with visual novels… i heard bad things about the game and also guud this… but i don’t know … the game seems very interesting though
Danganronpa is super underrated. I’ve played all 3 main games, the 3rd person shooter spinoff, and seen both anime series. Aoi, Chiaki, and Miu are best girls Edit: For those asking, my best boys are Byakuya, Nagito, and Kiibo
I absolutely adore Danganronpa, and I'm so glad you're talking about it. While looking back on it, it can be a bit janky in terms of writing and sometimes in mechanics or mysteries, the biggest thing I got from every installment was a fantastic emotional experience, an inspirational ride, and becoming attached to a ton of the characters. As weak as UDG can be, the character development is something that has stuck with me, as a fan and as a creator, for years. It really is unlike any other franchise I have ever played, and I've loved every minute of it. I do highly recommend revisiting Ultra Despair Girls because despite its jankiness, it really is interesting, has a great story and wonderful character development, especially for Toko, who is my favorite character BECAUSE of UDG. (also Toko and Komaru are totes gay)
I will say that UDG girls also made a complete 180 of my opinion of Fukawa too as she was one of the worst characters for me from the first game, but I really liked her after UDGs.
@@Zodia195 Yeah, it was really good to get to know Toko better. Her family background, odd-girl-out status among the DR1 cast, and awkward friendship with Komaru made her far more appealing this time around. Her Genocide gameplay was fun, too!
Just want to point out that although Austin does use 999 as an example to bounce off of to sell Danganronpa, I highly urge you don't overlook the Zero Escape series which is criminally-underrated as heck for how good it is. All three games (9 Doors 9 Hours 9 Persons, Virtue's Last Reward and Zero Time Dilemma) are available on Steam, PS4, Vita and the 3DS. Also about Austin's theory early in the video: Spike Chunsoft didn't exist back then. Spike and Chunsoft were still separate companies, where Spike owned Danganronpa while Zero Escape belonged to Chunsoft. Regardless, thank you for recommending this game series, Austin. Danganronpa is among my favorite video game franchises.
Even with ZTD being not as great as the other two, I'd still argue its miles above Dangangronpa. It's not like I hate the game, hell I bought all 3 and fairly enjoy them, but it focuses too much on trying to introduce GAMEPLAY into simple actions that just convolutes and lessens the experience of finding a flaw in someones argument or putting together a rebuttal. Meanwhile, the zero escape series fully embraces that its a puzzle mystery and doesn't try to throw INTENSE ACTION into any of it's gameplay.
If you haven’t played Ultra Despair Girls, you really should. They game’s 1/3 semi-creative third person shooter, 1/3 panty shots of 16 year old girls, and 1/3 the horrific realities of child abuse! Play it is pretty gud.
Ok I have to ask, does Ultra Despair Girls get better after chapter 1? So far it's been talking, talking, talking, play for 2-5 minutes, talking, tutorial, pick up book which results in talking, walking two steps then talking, etc. Does it pick up after that? It's been really slow so far and I'm not feeling it.
This'll probably just get lost in the sea of comments but can I just say, thank you so much for making this. I've known of the series for the past three or so years but never picked it up because I didn't like the stiffness of the art, and if it weren't for this video, it would've taken me even longer to finally play it for that dumb reason. I now love the games more than I imagined I would and have a bunch of new favorite characters to boot (Byakuya, Sakura, Gundham, Fuyuhiko, and K1-B0 to name a few). The first two games have kept me busy this month and I just bought v3 two days ago.
i'm actually super surprised with how you got to the end of the video without "spoiling" too much. it may be that i just know everything and can point stuff out when i know its what happened. BUT you did pretty well not showing off too much, there was only 2 parts i would of changed but other than that this is almost completely spoiler free!
Yeah... kinda wished it would hide a few more spoilers but does it decently enough. Just wish Danganronpa wasn't such a easy game to spoil, but it happens a lot.
tell me about it. I got into danganronpa based on a review that SPOILERS: spoiled mastermind Junko, spoiled Genocider, spoiled imposter byakuya, spoiled that everyone was remnants of despair, spoiled the new world program, spoiled chapter 1 of the first game, and gave a couple spoilers for the end of hope's peak.
Yeah spoilers are pretty annoying. Also you may need to put a few more spaces into your comment. You can do that by holding Shift + Plus Enter (just in case you don't know how to do it, and for people who want to learn how to do it). Like this. Still it's annoying when people get spoiled Lucahjin has most likely been spoiled already due to a few spoiler thumbnails with character with later artwork not meant to be shown, she was given to use. and people kept telling her to delete it due to spoilers, which was a shame cause while it was for a good reason, it gives Lucahjin the inkling that it is spoilers.
I do recommend watching or playing the rest of ultra despair girls because it's 1.By far the DARKEST danganronpa story out there. 2. It does wonders for toko's character. I used to hate Toko for being unrelatable and disgusting, but she transformed into one of my top 15 favourite characters. 3.It explains so much about how certain events in certain games (not gonna say which) are set up and actually manages to give komaru a story by the end of it. 4. It's also a good reference for seeing certain characters in top 10 lists and having enough knowledge about those characters as to know why they were on said list. I'm really glad more and more people are talking about danganronpa as it is easily my favourite video game franchise!
Saw this video in my recommendation feed, and I just *had* to click. More Danganronpa exposure is much, much needed. Though not particularly favored for its gameplay, it's just a fantastic franchise that is unpredictably and arguably one of the better story-driven games in recent memory. This is so much so that Danganronpa 2 has become one of my definite favorite games of all time. I highly recommend it as well. There's just something incredibly charming and clever about these games and the way they tackle grim themes and cliche tropes with it's zany and unpredictable story and characters. It's ridiculous, but overly gripping. It's really something you have to play to experience. Thanks for the video! Danganronpa is such a young series, so it's only a guarantee that there's more to come especially as it only gains more and more popularity to this day. Kodaka really didn't mean he was finished, but rather he wanted to take a break. I have faith that Danganronpa will only become more and more known. It could really use more love and support. Also, Ibuki is ultimate best girl. You just know I had to do it to 'em.
Maybe one day a visual novel like DR will have a chance at game of the year like Persona 5 did. I don't care if the game wins, I just want recognition so more games are released in America. I hate that shooters dominate over here when there's games that tell a story!
I actually wouldn't be surprised if Danganronpa is all wrapped up. I don't know how they can move on after V3's ending, and I do hope they quit while their ahead instead of forcing another.
Dennis Browning I didn't say anything wrong. Only that some fans consider that the easier solution would be to say that V3 is an alternate universe. At least if they want to make a fourth game.
I think it would be fun to talk about the spoiler content of all the games. Please make a story analysis video if you can help it please and thank you.
I started reading / playing danganronpa through that web forum and was part of that super early fandom and its so cool to see how far the franchise has come... ALSO your the first person I've seen mention it so ! Good job and stuff !!
I agree. And they said that they might be working on that. Personally I'd love it if, and this is obviously gonna be non-canon but if they got powers based on their Ultimate Talent that would be dope af.
I will say UDG is 1000x better with keyboard and mouse. Also, I take offense to your remark to Ace Attorney, but.. you're not wrong lol. Great video Austin, can't wait to share this to all my friends.
Alright, a new Austin Video and just in time for dinner. Also, Yakuza and Danganronpa are my favorite lesser known games. But both seem to tread more into the mainstream spotlight.
Komaru's character in UDG is pretty much an ordinary girl who got thrown into an extraordinary situation where she was pretty much forced to evolve and grow or die. All the while having to witness more and more grotesque things and seeing people dying in front of her.
This video was so long in my "watch later" list , I finnaly finished V3(took me so long because of the god damn Jump and run Death road ,so after Months of breaks I tortured me through this Part, I want that Sweet 100%) ,didn' t know you don't spoil anything. But I agree the ending is quite something. I loved how much passion you put in this video, this series really deserves it. P.S. Hope will never be defeated by despair.
Absolutely loved Danganronpa, and you did a really good job of explaining it without spoiling. I'm sad we could never play DISTRUST though. Honestly, if there's one thing I would love to see for this series if they continued, is for them to go back to the original idea with DISTRUST. And with how V3 ended, you could easily connect it with the rest of the Danganronpa series.
19:25 komaru has MAJOR character development in ultra despair girls. Play it, all the way through, on PC. Or watch an LP or something I don’t care lol.
V3s ending and message not only deeply resonated with me, but it opened me up to tons of new ideas and as someone who wants to go into filmmaking, I truly value that. Also I just wanna snuggle buggle with ibuki.
I kinda wish they make a fully fledged DISTRUST game. I know it's -basically- a mix between the games, but just the whole dark atmosphere and well...setting of it all, is amazing. Now that the series has ended (or at least I think it has), it would be neat to have something like the DISTRUST idea as like...a small game/extra/or even a DLC.
That's where I got my start on Danganronpa, watch through the games with him until V3 where I played it myself since I actually had a console I could borrow to play the game. Man was it fun to speed through the game. I would also say it's a decently big reason why Danganronpa got a huge push, especially with some of the jokes, NicoB created. Still NicoB's voice acting especially in the first game where he was still developing tons of voices (voices weren't a huge thing before then) can be bit hard to start off since I know a few people who got turned off, but I think it's more you got to adapt to it a bit. Get used to it, and you get to see how the voices develop, jokes are made and new voices are created and developed. It's pretty interesting that way.
I played this game after never knowing about its existence last year and have to say it has to be one of my favorite franchises of all time, it's so unknown but is SOOO GOOOOD
The concept mechanic of Mistrust, the original concept game, allowed you to influence the outcome of the game. If someone trusted or, wait for it, Mistrusted you, it would change their actions, which I love the idea of. It's probably just me wishing I could change who dies because.... ;-; Something I think they could have done is instead of a schoolmode unlocking at the end of the game, you could play distrust mode, which could change free time from a fun character interaction, to something that allows you to build or lose trust, this influencing the outcome. It would be clear the main, canon story, is the main game, but it would be a cool side mode (better than the school mode I think) that would allow for more interesting character building and interactions.
You know, Danganronpa is one of those series I know absolutely nothing about, but I've always wanted to give it a try because every so often I see it pop up on TH-cam or Reddit. I have an Xbox with Game Pass, and a Vita, both of which of 1, 2, and 3, but the Vita also has Ultra Despair Girls. I think I might finally give 'em a shot and play them on my Vita. I could just play 'em on Game Pass, but I don't wanna risk them getting removed when I'm half way through the game. Don't gotta worry about that on the Vita.
Why people love DR? I will give you qute from DRV3: "It (crying for help) makes the viewers even more depraved and obssesed when they fell sorry for you. They watch, knowing that they shouldn't, just to revel in derpavity of it all. That depravity is the appeal of death games."
I want that spoiler discussion so badly. I loved the twists and turns in the stories that know full well the intelligence of the player and use it to their advantage.
ultra dispair girls while janky too play is still quite enjoyable for the story, they go into some real dark territory some of which is misunderstood by some, for example pedophilia is addressed and some have thought it was promoting it when in fact the game was actually pointing out the Fed up reality of it and trauma it can cause. the whole komaru character is just her boobs is a far overexageration and the only time shes majorly sexualized there is a point behind it lol
I never was into visual novels games. It's just, Danganronpa is a masterpiece. The creativeness and the amount of mindfuck is literally astounding. ....So sad its such an underrated title.
Haohmaru HL I think the anime is great. It's really faithful to the game's story. It's a really good adaptation. Especially considering that it had 13 episodes.
I remember when I first herd about danganrompa, was the psp fan translation. Had a friend describe it to be just like Phoenix wright and That was enough to get me into the series. I do miss the feeling when you play the first time and being surprised when the story gets flipped on the spot. Then the music is always amazing, especially in 2 and in V3.
So Austin didn't mention this but currently Danganronpa 1-2 Reloaded (The PS4 re releases) are available for 29.99 physical copies and V3 is availabe for 35 bucks. Gonna pick up V3 tomorrow and drown in despair all over again. Great video man. Looking forward to watching the spoiler discussion video when I beat V3
Tallguy I really need to pick up UDG and V3 tbh, however I want to complete both games 100% first. You know? Not to mention that novel has been on my list for a while
Is it still worth it to play v3 if you know most of the execution (I already know 4 characters who get executed. Thx unmarked spoilers in the youtube comments) already?
Hmmm well that means you already know the trial results, shouldt have browser internet if you havent played the game already... I guess if you really care a lot about the major plot of the games (As in, not the killings themselves, but the whole resolution; if you played Dangan 1 and 2 you know what I mean) it can still be worth a try- tho it takes a bit for that plot to start. Nice Edna btw.
tantheman_13 mmmm I honestly think it's the best game, with the best characters. Even though I'm a super hater of the ending, the characters are really really good, and the story is, just like the other games, super interesting.
Mason Moore I forgot what it's called, but I'd have to say either New World Order. Got pure chills from that song when everything started popping off, despair syndrome, or maybe even monokumas acid trip music. Nothing can beat the "Bwaabwaabwaabooooo" for the vocals
The PSP game part 1,, the menu screen, the soundtrack which plays at that moment and the Monokuma theme... are both EXCELLENT no wait, i mean PERRRRRRFECT (but i mean the PSP game, i heard different versions on youtube who claims being original and not a remix, but its still sounded like a remix, awful. The PSP version main theme and Monokumas theme are the best....if you ask me, every other soundtrack is great, but these 2 shine among them...^^)
Mr. DD In the days leading up to homecoming and prom in American high schools, girls will usually wear mums around their neck, which are basically just fake flowers tied up in a ribbon. In Texas, however, it's common for girls to glue a bunch of crap to their mums, such as small toys, lights, and litteral bells and whistles. Why they do this, I have no idea
As a Texan who did got to HS here, seeing that picture did not surprise me. In my school, I actually wore 3 mums my senior year, but that was nothing compared to the Head cheerleader lol. She looked like one of those girls in that picture. I was able to get mums because my cousins made them.
i started danganronpa after seeing a lot of my friends talk about it and holy HELL it's insane. i'm half-way through trigger happy havoc and i fell in LOVE! a thing i really like about the series is the unpredictability, especially of the deaths, and the free time makes it SO MUCH BETTER. knowing that the characters you're so invested in could die at any moment and there's hardly any way of knowing who until it happens is kinda heart-wrenching. also, the killers are really unpredictable but once they and their motives have been revealed it's just,,,, yeah
I mean, I have a tumblr but I haven't updated it in years. The site isn't all crazies, I posted lewd art I drew for a while on it so I just stuck around the artist side of things.
Don’t pay any mind to Tumblr. Danganronpa has really interesting plot lines and characters. The series surprisingly had depth, which really shocked me. You should definitely give it another go.
Your experience on tumblr is entirely based on who you follow lol. Ive been on the site for years and I rarely see discourse or any other kind of that shit, I just followed people with my same interests and content creators that I like and im having a really fun, extrenely chill time there. that being said, the danganronpa tag is full of amazing artists and theories and other incredible stuff but it's also a bit..... unique, to put it kindly. But yeah, dont give up on the series just because of tumblr. This series is worth so much more than that
ackkkk i love danganronpa (i’ve watched the first 5/6 eps of it and it’s sooo good, my friends are obsessed with it too) but i’m sensitive to bloody images & gore and get nightmares. literally one of my friends who watches it is in 5th grade. 🥺🥺
DR1 - wow it can't get better than this
DR2- w o w okay now it *really* cant get better

Indeed. Gameplay is basic from what I have watched, but the story does pretty well, and the few main characters are done pretty well.

i hope they will make a V4. V3 was also good but pretty troll in the end
UDG was my favorite entry in the series.

Butcher well its the last game for now and it went off with a bang.
I recommend Danganronpa to everyone. I don't like visual novels but I have more than 50 hours on each Danganronpa game.
Nagito Komaeda hey wanna hear a funny joke? Knifes!
th-cam.com/video/w7wzw2V4e_Y/w-d-xo.html
hmmm i’m thinking of buying this game … i’m not too familiar with visual novels… i heard bad things about the game and also guud this… but i don’t know … the game seems very interesting though
Danganronpa is super underrated. I’ve played all 3 main games, the 3rd person shooter spinoff, and seen both anime series.
Aoi, Chiaki, and Miu are best girls
Edit: For those asking, my best boys are Byakuya, Nagito, and Kiibo
Who are your best boys? Mine are Gundam, Kiyo (I don't care what people say lol), and Shuichi. My best girls are Kirigiri, Chiaki, and Sonya.
My best girls are aoi iruma ibuki and akane best boys are ishimaru Kiibo kazuichi and gundam
victikirby15 chiaki and kyoko best girls for me
Ibuki and Angie for females and for guys, Mondo, Kaito, Rantaro, (Nagito but he's overrated so eh), Ryota and Kizakura.
Togami,Nekomaru,Mondo and Kazuichi are best boys
What lesser known franchises are you extremely into?
Austin Eruption oh my
Valkeryia Chronicles.
Army of Two
Austin Eruption 4:59 it's also less of a mouthful
Hatsune Miku's project diva Franchise!
Austin Eruption does the "Another Century's Episode" series count?
Original Monokuma is pure nightmare fuel
This game looks cool! I'd love more reviews like these.👍
The game is cool and the best thing is that if you love the first one, the second just improves on that - at least in my humble opinion.
Yes! The Zero Escape series is amazing and like you mentioned: underrated.
Except Zero Time Dilemma
That was shit
Braystar To each their own. I can't really fault anyone for disliking it, but I personally enjoyed it for what it was.
Braystar Yeah, I had to force myself to finish ZTD
Play it is pretty gud.
victikirby15 but that’s the worst danganronpa, it’s got broken gameplay and a bad story
DeKukrunk I don’t know about the PSP version, but I thought the PC version was pretty good
Ok I have to ask, does Ultra Despair Girls get better after chapter 1? So far it's been talking, talking, talking, play for 2-5 minutes, talking, tutorial, pick up book which results in talking, walking two steps then talking, etc. Does it pick up after that? It's been really slow so far and I'm not feeling it.
Best story arc imo
SuperSensei Nigga, it's just a novel disguised as a third person shooter
This'll probably just get lost in the sea of comments but can I just say, thank you so much for making this. I've known of the series for the past three or so years but never picked it up because I didn't like the stiffness of the art, and if it weren't for this video, it would've taken me even longer to finally play it for that dumb reason. I now love the games more than I imagined I would and have a bunch of new favorite characters to boot (Byakuya, Sakura, Gundham, Fuyuhiko, and K1-B0 to name a few).
The first two games have kept me busy this month and I just bought v3 two days ago.
I'm so glad that you are enjoying it! Sharing the joy of Dangan is always a treat.
i'm actually super surprised with how you got to the end of the video without "spoiling" too much.
it may be that i just know everything and can point stuff out when i know its what happened.
I got into danganronpa based on a review that SPOILERS:
spoiled mastermind Junko, spoiled Genocider, spoiled imposter byakuya, spoiled that everyone was remnants of despair, spoiled the new world program, spoiled chapter 1 of the first game, and gave a couple spoilers for the end of hope's peak.
Sorry, that's what I did but must not have been enough spaces lol
Such as 21:24, that was a hidden spoiler
Glad to see Masafumi Takada getting a shoutout, he's probably up there in my top 5 favorite japanese VG composers.
before danganronpa I would never cry at anything.
didn't feel a thing.
then chapter 5 of both sdr2 and drv3 happened.
_thanks kodaka for breaking me_

"These tropes don't exist in Dangan Ronpa."
SDR2 and DR3: The Anime would like to have a word with you.
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah, I think he ignored somehow lot of tropes existing or just forgot about them
They do, just not in a predictable way. The way those tropes are used in this series throw us for a loop.
Am I the only one who absolutely loved danganronpa 3?
I literally just beat the first two, they're so fantastic
and yes Chiaki and Naoto are indeed best girl thank you
Narayan Castano your phrasing implies you beaten it side by side or something. You just can't beat both of them. It takes 30-40 per game
I did just that, went from the first one right to the second one
Be sure to watch Danganronpa 3 Future Despair and Hope it's an anime
I do recommend watching or playing the rest of ultra despair girls because it's
1.By far the DARKEST danganronpa story out there.
I'm really glad more and more people are talking about danganronpa as it is easily my favourite video game franchise!
dont forget the sound track, new characters and of course nagisa lol
You succeeded in getting me to play Danganronpa and honestly, I can't thank you enough for it! It truly is a brilliant game
I want komaeda to RUN
I actually wouldn't be surprised if Danganronpa is all wrapped up. I don't know how they can move on after V3's ending, and I do hope they quit while their ahead instead of forcing another.
Tsumugi Shirogane SOLD, where can I pick it up?
Tsumugi Shirogane Nobody believed in V3's longevity but here it is M I L L E N N I U M S later still getting updates. What's single player mean?
Dennis Browning
Most people thinks that the solution could be two words: alternate universe.
Fabian Alvarado I got two words: Cop Out.
Dennis Browning
I didn't say anything wrong. Only that some fans consider that the easier solution would be to say that V3 is an alternate universe. At least if they want to make a fourth game.
I think it would be fun to talk about the spoiler content of all the games. Please make a story analysis video if you can help it please and thank you.
You are doing gods work sir
"also chiaki best girl"
*CONSSSSEEEEEENNNNNNNNTTTTT!!!!*
Never thought I'd see the day Danganronpa and Despacito would be associated.
?
look at the description
Do. Play. DESPAIR.GIRLS. And. See. By. Yourself.
I started reading / playing danganronpa through that web forum and was part of that super early fandom and its so cool to see how far the franchise has come... ALSO your the first person I've seen mention it so ! Good job and stuff !!
A danganronpa fighting game would be fantastic with the characters moves using the weapons they've been killed with would be awesome
I agree. And they said that they might be working on that. Personally I'd love it if, and this is obviously gonna be non-canon but if they got powers based on their Ultimate Talent that would be dope af.
Skeith yeah I agree I just thought that danganronpa would translate really well into a fighting game
Man that would be pretty cool.... still would be spoil heavy with some characters.... but still a lot of fun.
Fuckin' butter
I want a Danganronpa Arena game
I will say UDG is 1000x better with keyboard and mouse. Also, I take offense to your remark to Ace Attorney, but.. you're not wrong lol. Great video Austin, can't wait to share this to all my friends.
Lozzu I like Ultra Despair Girls. It has one of the darkest stories of the franchise and explains a lot of things.
Alright, a new Austin Video and just in time for dinner. Also, Yakuza and Danganronpa are my favorite lesser known games. But both seem to tread more into the mainstream spotlight.
I love how even this retrospective is in on it. The fan base is so respectful, they want to ensure a proper experience is delivered to everyone.
With V3, I took a month break from playing after the first chapter, it was that emotional for me
"Drown in despair with me"
Is that you, [REDACTED]? I guess, according to V3, it always is.
Chiaki best girl?! I mean, you're not wrong, she is a best girl, but the true best girl is... *drumroll* Ibuki Miooodaaaa!
TigerWolf how the fuck do I pin someone else's comment???
No. The *TRUE* best girl of Dangan Is Kaede and I will not accept any other options
T-posing Waluigi Or is that just Kayayayayayaydays lie
Lycos Games
Oh no, not this. Not again.
@@tempestzeta11 But that's Kayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayday's lie, isn't it?
This is my favorite anime/visual novel.
So happy you finally got to do a DR video! I eagerly await a spoiler video about V3....! It’s June 2018 and I am STILL thinking about V3’s ending....
"If you have the ahoge, you are the protagonist."
Kiibo: 👁👄👁
Chiaki Nanimi is best girl
And Debate Scrum is my favorite mini game
I kinda wish they make a fully fledged DISTRUST game. I know it's -basically- a mix between the games, but just the whole dark atmosphere and well...setting of it all, is amazing. Now that the series has ended (or at least I think it has), it would be neat to have something like the DISTRUST idea as like...a small game/extra/or even a DLC.
To the lazy people who don't like reading, NicoB has a play-through of all of the games with DAMN good voice acting.
Please no.......DR has enough problems with LP cancer as is.
Eh it depends on the LPer and NicoB is a damn good one. Hell he played the original before it had an official english translation.
Big Feared Balloon Yeah, I tried giving his LP a try, but his constant laughing and (Forgive me NicoB fans) cringy voice acting turned me away. :(
+BlackRubyADV I seen that a lot with people who don't like NicoB, which is something I can understand logically.
I played this game after never knowing about its existence last year and have to say it has to be one of my favorite franchises of all time, it's so unknown but is SOOO GOOOOD
The concept mechanic of Mistrust, the original concept game, allowed you to influence the outcome of the game. If someone trusted or, wait for it, Mistrusted you, it would change their actions, which I love the idea of. It's probably just me wishing I could change who dies because.... ;-;
Something I think they could have done is instead of a schoolmode unlocking at the end of the game, you could play distrust mode, which could change free time from a fun character interaction, to something that allows you to build or lose trust, this influencing the outcome. It would be clear the main, canon story, is the main game, but it would be a cool side mode (better than the school mode I think) that would allow for more interesting character building and interactions.
"I want more people to drown in despair with me"
sounds like you need to join the madoka fandom
You know, Danganronpa is one of those series I know absolutely nothing about, but I've always wanted to give it a try because every so often I see it pop up on TH-cam or Reddit. I have an Xbox with Game Pass, and a Vita, both of which of 1, 2, and 3, but the Vita also has Ultra Despair Girls. I think I might finally give 'em a shot and play them on my Vita. I could just play 'em on Game Pass, but I don't wanna risk them getting removed when I'm half way through the game. Don't gotta worry about that on the Vita.
Ultra Despair Girls is actually pretty good, if a bit janky. You really shouldn't judge it from a story synopsis.
I really liked both the story, and toko’s character development
V3 had the biggest twist in video game history i havent seen in a hot minute must play
Why people love DR? I will give you qute from DRV3:
"It (crying for help) makes the viewers even more depraved and obssesed when they fell sorry for you. They watch, knowing that they shouldn't, just to revel in derpavity of it all. That depravity is the appeal of death games."
I want that spoiler discussion so badly. I loved the twists and turns in the stories that know full well the intelligence of the player and use it to their advantage.
Danganronpa is underrated?
Also it has waifus and husbandos
I agree. The entire Danganronpa series needs way more aggressive marketing over here in the US.
I met this series with you and i'm loving playing. Thanks.
Huh, didnt expect you to cover DR.
I recently discovered Danganronpa and oh man, how did I miss this, it is exactly my type of game.
ultra dispair girls while janky too play is still quite enjoyable for the story, they go into some real dark territory some of which is misunderstood by some, for example pedophilia is addressed and some have thought it was promoting it when in fact the game was actually pointing out the Fed up reality of it and trauma it can cause. the whole komaru character is just her boobs is a far overexageration and the only time shes majorly sexualized there is a point behind it lol
5:00 I honestly think they did it like this because "Super Highschool Level" doesn't roll off the tongue as easily as "Ultimate".
Great now make an hour discussion involving spoilers
And then another hour involving only memes XD
I never was into visual novels games.
It's just, Danganronpa is a masterpiece.
The creativeness and the amount of mindfuck is literally astounding.
....So sad its such an underrated title.
A criminally underrated series
Just got done playing 1 because of this video... dude, thank you. one of the best games I’ve played.
V3 is so emotionally scarring that it just makes me break down when I see someone give a summary like this
Loved the anime, still haven't played the games though
Nintendo Nerd after you played the games you would hate the anime version because how lame it is compared to source material
Haohmaru HL
I think the anime is great. It's really faithful to the game's story. It's a really good adaptation. Especially considering that it had 13 episodes.
Nintendo Nerd once you've played the games, you'll realize how terrible the anime was xD
"As as a linear story, it may not be the most replayable" Oh, if you only knew.
About Danganronpa 3: Great Gozu is Husbando Material :)
HE only E X I S T E D for 2 MINUTES, how tf is he husbando?
You know? Not to mention that novel has been on my list for a while
Finally finished V3. I’m ready for your spoiler discussion video
"more insane class trails" *shows Nagito* yep your right he pretty insane
One of those dislikes is CinnamonToastKen.
Boy I need your full spoiler heavy DRV3 video ASAP!
Homicide is the best Danganronpa song, easily.
The PSP version main theme and Monokumas theme are the best....if you ask me, every other soundtrack is great, but these 2 shine among them...^^)
Me and my close friend just started the series 2 months ago. Im so glad you have a video for this.
4:29 Texas schools WISH they could have the windows bolted shut.
More importantly, you're from Texas? :o
Could you please explain that picture? It flew far above my European head
Otaking Mikohani thanks, what an interesting tradition!
Mr. DD You're welcome, and yeah, I guess "interesting" would be a good way to describe it lol
Okay fine, I'll give Dangan another crack. I usually steer clear of anything that Tumblr likes (Homestuck) but since Austin likes it I'll try again.
J Brook Please don't let tumblr ruin things for you. There's a lot of shit popular with tumblr users that's also actually good.
Tiger Festivals That sounds just like something a Tumblr user would say. 😬
This series is worth so much more than that
Thanks for explaining this series to people because most people get turned off by it from the art style but you explain all aspects almost
MOOOOOONOOOOKUUUMAAAA!
21:23 annnnnnndddd I'm already spoiled... man reviewing this game spoiler free is a pain
hmm female main character... *thinking*
Robin Koh komaru
ackkkk i love danganronpa (i’ve watched the first 5/6 eps of it and it’s sooo good, my friends are obsessed with it too) but i’m sensitive to bloody images & gore and get nightmares. literally one of my friends who watches it is in 5th grade. 🥺🥺
omg that’s unfortunate :( the fact that the blood is pink doesn’t help? (srry if i sound rude, i’m genuinely asking)
But danaganronpa is the gay
But seriously speaking i love danaganronpa and all its sequels .
ClipOnSunglasses 🤔🤔
tell 'em, naegi!
Nah the anime has a case of the bih gay. The games are straighter than thw equator
shizzle blitzle no you
I fully expected Austin to end the video with "Goodnight, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite..."
"For the first time in the series you get to play as a female" wHEEZE
Basically dead
...
Your username is not helping matters.
Flariz hanging around this comments been fun
Come on guys, don't leave Kaede *hanging*
This is my favorite franchise and I am so glad you're making a video to make more people into it. Thank you so much!
