    I didn't even know mini PCs were a thing! I've never owned a PC, dunno how to build one, intimidated, priced out too. But this seems like a solid way to enter PC gaming at PS5 prices! Notwithstanding extra SSD storage, necessary peripherals etc. obviously. Definitely peaked my interest!

    • @TechDweeb

      Definitely a great entry point to PC gaming. Don't expect to play the latest AAA games at ultra settings, but you can play pretty much anything on this and enjoy it!

    Every time i think about buying a mini pc every 2 weeks it seems a new review comes out for something better. Seeing as i want it as an emulation system for retro and ps2 gamecube as the maximum, i guess i should just wait a few years and pick one up that meets my needs for about $100

    I'm thinking of getting one of these mini computers to use in the living room with my TV. Its main use will be for gaming. Looking at the Beelink SER6 Max with the Ryzen 9 6900HX, 32gb RAM, and 1tb SSD. Basically the same as in this video except with a different CPU.

    • @Waltkat

      @@blueskies1014 No because for about the same price as a SER6 I can get a new NVidia 4070 graphics card to replace the dead 1070 that's in my gaming computer now. So in the end, I'd have a more powerful gaming rig and can still do CAD work too. The only negative is the size difference between the two setups.

    • @TechDweeb
      @TechDweeb  ปีที่แล้ว

      The catch is that they are not really upgradable. On a desktop PC you can get new processors, graphics cards, etc. These are by once, use it, then get rid of it when it's time for the next one.

      @@Mustis91 minisforum in Europe has a few deals close to that price. The em680 with soldered RAM goes for 460 for 16gb+500gb ssd, packs an r7 6800u. The UM690s barebones goes for 419, has a 6900hx. The UM 773 lite SE has an r7 7735hs (r7 6800u refresh with RDNA2 graphics, look at the last two numbers), which goes for 409 barebones.
      Not quite a fully specced PC below 400, but at least it's a lil below 500 for a working basemodel.

    I'm buying the strix point varient! Comes with 16 cu igpu. There ll be a strix halo with 40 cu which might outperform rx 6600.
    I was about to but 7840hs but it was like a 1650 as an i gpu actually at high watt it performs like 1650 super. In some scenarios worst than 1650.
    Strix point might perform like 1660. I'm buying 1 :).
    20 cu rdna 3.5 modle would have been better but there is only 3 varients for 8000 ryzen mobile apus
    12 cu 16 cu 40 cu. Why not :( 25 cu modle!!!
    I have rog ally so i can clearly say that 780m at higher wattage is absolutely a godlike thing.
    Buti wanna replace my whole studio with a mini. (It really takes too much of my desk space.
    Beelink is actually has better cooling than nuc moonstone. And pricing is better as well.
    Nuc Moonstone with ubuntu and 32 gb ram 1 tb ssd costs around 1000$ that 😢 no good.

    I was hoping to be able to comfortably run mario kart 8 deluxe at x2 resolution, using yuzu or ryujinx, but this appears to require some tweaking of settings, or possibly even higher TDP (if I understand correctly you'd have to get a higher wattage PSU first). Have you done any testing with that title?

    Hey TechDweeb! Really love your content. This is my first question I have ever asked you. I more or less have a shell of an original Daytona Twin Cab. I am adding racing wheels and going to link up two PCs to run simultaneous racing. I was told the minimum specs would be a 6 or 7th gen i5 with a 1050ti 4gb video card with 8gb of ram and an SSD. So do you think this little mini PC would be every bit as powerful as the PC I just described to do this same task. Would be great to do all of this with a couple of these SER6 units. Just wanted your take. I would be plugging in Force Feedback Thrustmaster T248x and p racing wheels with pedals and wanted to output them to 27" 100hz 1080p monitors. It would emulate up to techno parrot and Sega Model 2 and 3 I believe along with MAME. Not pushing this for iracing or current AAA racing titles like horizon or anything like that though wondered what the limits would be for exclusively racing titles. Thanks in advance and keep up all the great vids!

    • @TechDweeb
      @TechDweeb  ปีที่แล้ว

      This wouldn't be as powerful as a 1050 ti. The performance might be similar, but I don't want to make guarantees. It should be fine for your technoparrot and MAME stuff though.

    They also make GREAT kids first computers put some old games on it and stuff for homework a little monitor kb and mouse and bam you got yourself a nerd goin!
    as well they make great computers for older people that just want a Facebook machine and something to Webcam with the grandkids.
    They are honestly under praised as a PC.
    They are also good as a pfsense box (if it has 2 network ports) to make your own super beefy router. That isnt a big power drain like one made from an old PC

    I think you should do a comparison video between all your mini pc's. Maybe a tier list, but of course it cant be a normal f-s rank tier list. It should be listed from "Total Garbage", "Definitely not milk", "Not your mom", "Ehh Kinda Chilly", "That's Totally My Retro", "Meh Modern AAA Hype", "Laura approved (best value/to performance. To show your girl some love.)"
