*Regarding this PC with the massive flaw of missing a screw on the heatsink to the processor, Beelink has apologized and has held a meeting to discuss this issue. They hope not to make a mistake like this again. They took it very seriously and responded fast to this issue so I am very thankful for that*
A massive thank you to BEELINK for sending me this sample out for review!
I really do appreciate it! I hope this video is more than enough :)
It's currently available to purchase and has an $80 USD coupon to go with it until September 23rd.
    Link is here: www.bee-link.com/catalog/product/buy?id=538
My opinions in this video are my own, I am not being paid by BEELINK they have just sent out the sample for me to review which is what I like to do :)
I have to select "paid promotion" on TH-cam as I received something of value from a third party.

Don't ever feel bad for criticizing a review product. There are too many reviewers out there that hype the product they are supposed to be honestly reviewing and you can see right through it. Please don't be one of these people. It's not fair to anyone. Just be yourself. They contacted YOU, don't forget that.

I had no idea about their QC stuff. I knew the brand but nothing else. I went into this with an open mind and it's hard to criticize something I received for free but catching that missing screw at the last minute... that's a big fail. If a consumer got that, over time that will be a problem. I stick by the overall review of this because the hardware is decent but now seeing the issues...I am not sure I'll even keep the video up. I'll see what beelink says and go from there.

Beelink and Minisforum. They both have spent a LOT of effort to get youtubers to review these cheapo things to get everyone to think they're amazing deals. It's the PC equivalent of if they got MKBHD and Mr. Mobile to push Welcome devices.

15:33 - Windows 11 isn't blocking you from using FRAPS. It seems like whatever install of Windows that Beelink put on has some pre configured settings preventing you from installing it. Kind of suspicious, I've never heard of an OEM putting admin blocks on certain apps being installed.

1 year of guarantee and MASSIVE amount of complaints about quality issues on their devices just say a lot about thinking about getting one... Missing screw is is like blessing from heaven compared to literally dead units that people often get. And Beelink is not alone sadly as for some time I was really close to buy miniPC and I spend lots of time checking different units and brands and sadly whole miniPC market is a mess, there is lots of noname devices that are rebranded, few that have their own boards, but just like beelink, quality is hit and miss, and even if Intel NUC was good overall it still had QC issues on lots of units(that suck when we consider price of NUCs)
If someone like me could not get "normal box" PC due to constant moving/travel and was looking for miniPC its really hell to find something good, and x2 harder after you also consider laptops.
At the end I still stick to Laptop for now, but I hope in next years some bigger companies start doing more miniPC or at least put better parts in all-in-one devices like all those monitor-based computers as 90% of them suck or have price from the moon...

I remember him saying he used to mix a while back" and pleasantly surprised that it is mentioned in the description! Nice one ✊ I sometimes use FLM on my phone myself. Great way to kill time.
Sidenote: The background music gives me an early to late 2000s vibe. Imagining myself listening to it on Windows XP's media player seems strangely fitting.

I have the SER5 Pro version of this. I've had it for almost a month now. I put a 1TB SSD into the free slot on the inside, but otherwise I haven't upgraded anything yet. I'm considering going from 16GB RAM to 32GB. I spend most of my time in Ubuntu but I dual boot with the Windows 11 Pro that it came with.
Even with the SER 5 Pro, i was able to play Baldur's Gate III, which is pretty impressive. The only slight regret I have is that the SER 7 has (as far as I know) a USB Firewire that can take an external GPU, but I'm able to play anything I've thrown at it, and I'm not a big gamer, anyway.

I really don't understand the repeated trashing of Win 11, especially given the upcoming end of support for Win 10. I'd be nice if you would share why you don't prefer Windows 11, otherwise it seems to be just your preference (bolstered, of course, by your own admission that you don't typically use new technology). Windows 11 is faster and snapier than Windows 10, in addition to other performance improvements (especially as gaming is concerned). I could go on, but other viewers could simply Google the differences. That said, persistent knocks on Win 11 without any justification erodes your credibility (especially the suggestion that Beelink should ship with Win 10 instead).

also note that USB 4.0 automatically includes Thunderbolt 3. This little box can use a pair of EGPUs, and can be powered via one of those ports, negating the adapter. A one cable computer, using bluetooth keyboard and mouse. It's a neat little machine, but as others have noted. Tear it down, give it a go over, and make sure it's all there. Also, probably better to order it from Amazon, as third party sellers have better shipping departments, and Amazon has a faster RMA process.

    • @acuteaura

It absolutely does not. Like 90% of the USB4 spec is optional, including PCIe lanes, speeds greater than 10 Gbps and, indeed, TB Tunnel Mode.

Use Windows 11 or Linux for this build.
You want 11, or linux, for the better CPU scheduler; Which translates into better performance.
You should also run a 20" monitor with a resolution of 900p max, preferably 720p though, due to the memory bandwidth limitations of an integrated solution like this.

Poor QC was mentioned in the comments. I've ordered SER 6 Max twice already and both times it came broken, making weird old-HDD noises. Support tried to send me a new fan (it is definitely not the fan making that noise), flash bios to the same version I had and asked if I "can't get used to it" - only after that they've offered to replace the device, which would mean weeks of shipping back-and-forth to China. Returned it back to Amazon, pity because the device looked very promising

Why don't you use FSR in cyberpunk 2077? It's literally built to use DLSS/FSR to get its target performance. You could also turn on the RT options while using FSR. It's really a waste of performance to use such a powerful chipset for medium settings. I play CP77 at the highest settings on my Alienware R2 15 (i7-6700HQ, GTX965M, 16GB DDR4 8x2R @2133MHz) at 720P with FSR Balanced at around 30FPS. If a mid-range laptop from around 10 years ago can do it, that brand new chipset can surely do it at 1080P and with RT turned on.

Amazing how good integrated graphics are on some of the chips these days. AMD more than Intel (though I know they've been trying to push them more lately with Xe). I'm not looking at one of these but I'm looking at a 13/14in laptop ideal for travel with my business laptop that can reasonably run games and so the new chips do appeal to me

So if the power goes out it's just like me pulling the plug on your tower pc while your using it. I seen videos of people saying they were working and the power went of or they had to go do something else and came back to a dead pc
If this is not your pc Can you unplug it while using it before you send it back so I can see if a power outage will kill it,

I'm really not happy with the Beelink SER5 5600H I have. The worse part of them, or the one I have is it has the worse wifi and Bluetooth radios I've ever known. Support is also terrible. On the website where you post an issue, it is heavily moderated and my question about the radio was never allowed to post. I could not get drivers that worked either. However as others have mentioned the BIOS is an issue with some of these, and mine never got any update to fix the infrequent crashes on bootup. I haven't opened it up to check the screws or anything so I can't vouch on that, but I'm glad mine wasn't DOA.

Not sure what purpose the magnetic power connector is going to serve, on a machine that has no battery, and the way they designed it, the cord won't pull out to save it from falling off the desk if it's tugged anyway.

    • @meetoo594
      @meetoo594 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Its purpose is to lock you in to a proprietary connector so when the psu fails (which it will) they can sell you a bespoke one at a massive mark up rather than you just buying a generic laptop psu. As you say, it wont protect against being pulled off a desk due to it being pretty much locked in place by the case.

  • @aleksazunjic9672

Honest question : what is the use case for these mini-PCs ? I mean, you basically get laptop parts, but it is not portable as laptop. Compared to desktop, you usually get worse performance for the price (due to laptop components) , but you still need to have usual desktop setup like monitor, keyboard, mouse, cables ... So what is the point of mini-PC ?

    • @thedarkknight1971
      @thedarkknight1971 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Space... For most that don't want a hulking great Desktop or Tower, these things can give great performance (again, for most needs) in a small space that CAN also be mounted on the back of a monitor or TV so, out of sight too... Gamers will obviously require big ass power and ultimate performance, but, most who just want a quick enough PC to handle the behemoth that is Windows, and run basic to intermediate gaming, browsing, media playback, then, these suite very well. Obviously getting a good one, er, that works reliably is also a bonus lol (Beelink's build quality issues etc), I myself some years back went from a Dell Optiplex Pentium II Desktop, to a Lenovo 'Thinkcentre i5' mini PC (it had 8G Ram, since upped it to 16G)... No regrets had...

@@thedarkknight1971 Ok, but you still need display , keyboard and all that stuff, so space saving is not that great. Especially if you consider usual office mini-tower cases, which are perfectly fine for a setup with integrated graphics, or some smaller cheaper card like 6400 or 1650.

    • @thedarkknight1971

@@aleksazunjic9672 Yeah, agreed, but, take my scenario as an example, Logitech K400 wireless keyboard/trackpad combo and the mini pc is connected to my TV, sound goes through my 1989 Technics SU-600 'New Class A' integrated amp and 4 X midrange Sony & Pioneer bookshelf speakers (superb sound). I use my mini PC as an all round 'Media Centre' and it's quick enough to even run 'Elite Dangerous' (ok, mid graphic settings), but, I'm happy with this setup. Again, think again about opening your scope of who these units are for, and other people's scenarios of why they would go for units like these. Many people aren't necessarily tied down to a wired keyboard, wired mouse and big ass desk with a 30+" monitor (or two) sat on top... 😏

Windows 11 has an annoying `feature` out of the box called S mode that silently stops you installing anything unless it came from the windows store. You have to download an app from said store to disable it which is a really sneaky way of microsoft to get you to make an online account just to use the bloody thing properly. I was trying to install chrome and double clicking the installer just did nothing. There were no `you need to disable s mode` or whatever messages, it just appeared to not work and appear like something was wrong with the installer which confused the hell out of me until I googled the solution. Very bad practice on microsoft's part there.
On a related note, if buying one of these pcs from China always wipe the ssd and install a fresh os from an oficial ms/linux etc installer download. These things are renowned for loading malware and backdoors into the pre-installed ones. Would be interesting to run a virus checker on this one.
