I'd love a review of the AI Pro vs the AI Bullet. I have an upcoming install that will likely involve AI Bullets, G5 Turrets, and a few G5 (or AI) Pros. Cops often come to this location to check cameras since we have some of the better ones in the area (inner city). Thinking the AI ones might be nicer but hard to justify $129 G5 Turret vs $499 AI Pro.
I've revied the AI Bullet v the AI pro, I would spend the extra and get the AI Pro, the optical zoom lets you "tune" it to get the perfect field of view and maximum detection success. I would mix and match the turret and the pro, put the Pro's where u need advanced detections and the turrets where u just need good surveillance..
Having messed with these cameras a bit myself, I agree with you that the AI is a specific use case camera, for catching plates and movements (future face detection) in specific spots, where the g5 and g4 are better for wide view and general detections. I used my G4 pros to show the overall view of my property, Domes for interior and access points, and the AI's out on the edge for LPRs. The other thing worth pointing out is that using smart detections on the non AI cameras adds slightly more processing tax on the NVR or Dream Machine.
In Florida, cold weather functionality is not an issue. I wonder if you might in passing provide a temperature rating in your reviews. I’m interested to know if cameras work in the cold and more so, if cold weather will ruin a camera. Cold means -25F.
You can, on the detection there is a lirrle gear icon at the top letf, click it and choose Vehicle of Interest.. You can also give it a name and description. Then go to settings, alerts and choose how you want "vehicle of interest" to alert (ap or email)...
Is the AI Bulelt based on the G5 or G4 technology? I think it would of been nice to have an IR Enhancer option for the AI Bullet, liek the G4 Bullet had. Even those these ar IR Only, it would have been nice to have that option. Looking at the specs, I am not sure what happened with your field of view. The UI Specs have horizontal FOV for the AI Bullet at 84.7 and for the G5 Bullet at 84.4, making the G4 Bullet actually having a narrower FOV than the AI Bullet.....
@@EsotericArctos honestly, I'm not a big fan of the AI bullet. I rarely use them. I have one that I got for testing but I don't even put it up on the side of the building unless I'm testing again... The pro is just a better value and a better camera.. I'm patiently waiting for some more AI cameras to come out. I would love to see a turret and a dome AI
I'm helping update my church's security camera system (currently running very old cameras connected to a DVR over SDI). This was a very helpful review! I don't need the AI detection feature, so that makes my decision easier. What model camera(s) do you recommend for interior surveillance? Thank you!
It's somewhere around 10-12' up. I would get the pro if you have the budget, it is much better at the advanced AI detections because of the optical zoom..
Kinda silly at this point that they don't make a full AI line and abandon the others. They are getting closer to competitors, but they gotta go the rest of the way. Disappointed the new Ultra cameras don't support the AI features.
@@DPCTechnology They are good cameras, especially for the price. They don't do anything that I can do with a similarly priced camera from a competitor and Blue Iris. I like their quality, which is why I keep using them. I'd be ok paying 2x this for the same thing + AI features.
I would be sold on the AI line of cameras for home use if they could notify me of an unknown person during specified time periods. I would love to know if someone I don't know is in my back yard any time after 10 pm, for example.
Yeah at this point it's just person of interest that you define.. But it stands the reason they'll be able to do the inverse of that. Meaning people that are not defined.. It's probably just going to take them a while to develop out a full set of features. At this point I think they are working on quality of detections and variety of targets.. it will be fun to watch the development..
@@DPCTechnology totally agree, will take time to build out the features. These are still great for businesses. I'll be installing my first bunch for a client in the next 2 weeks, excited to get hands on!
I have a few of the AI Bullets and AI Pro's out in the wild and dozens of G5 Bullets. The AI bullet here in Australia is very expensive for the ball-kicker, it sucks compared to the AI Pro. I have one sitting in a undercover driveway where vehicles and their plates pass within 3 meters of the camera, still misses reads. Facial, yeah, again, a lot missed. The Pro, with zoom, that sucker is getting plates at 400M. I am at the point that I wont be buy G5 bullets much more as soon as we can get the turrets. And, same with the AI Bullet, performance sucks. Audio detections accross the board, very porr performance. Here in Australia, the difference between trucks, SUV's and cars is pretty distinct but the cameras can't make up their minds and I regularly see vehicles change type, even cars becoming trucks.... Just on your comment Clay with the distance of NPR / Facial, the camera has to low and close that it is not safe from someone vandalising or stealing them. As UBNT have been aware of theft for a while as I have personally questioned it. UBNT can easily track devices as they need adoption into a controller to work and a marked stolen unit (MAC address) can either report to location of controller or at least, stun the devices so it wont work again. Other brands manage to do it.
Agreed, detections don't matter if the cameras doesn't have the resolution to see the object in enough detail in the first place. The Ai Bullet is way over priced for what you get, the Ai Pro on the other hand is a beast of a camera. Also the G5 Pro is leaps and bounds better than the Ai Bullet and is less expensive with twice the resolution and better IR.
You made a mistake with turning IR off, the IR emitter being 'on' for the regular bullet while the AI is 'off' the IR is still being emitted on regular will illuminate for both cameras, so the testing of the AI was faulty unless you turned them both off at same time
G5 bullet privacy zones are simply squares. Here where you cant record other people, thats really annoying thing. You can have only 5 of those. AI Bullet has it better, just like with the other pro cameras.

This is the review I've been looking for. Thank you!

Nice. Cheers for the comparison. The AI range has some odd naming and maybe the AI bullet is due an update
I think it's a great camera. I just think the price maybe needs an adjustment..

I would go with the new G5 Ultra domes or turrets based off of your mounting needs and availability, if they are not in stock i would buy G5 Domes.
21:19 the AI shows the license plate
I want to put a camera on the corner of a building and have 270 deg of coverage. Any suggestions for unify solutions?

how does the AI Bullet perform with semitrailers and trucks of that size?
It does well.. We don't get a ton of semis but we get city buses in an occasional semi and it identifies them

I think they are trying to balance price to performance. And based on how hard it is to keep the Ultras in stock, I think they nailed it.

Maybe because AI costs more to the consumer that may not require it?
Good review. Next generation of AI based cameras should be incredible
AI Pro is much better compared to AI Bullet. 4K image, 2-way speakers, etc.
Getting better and better!
License plate started with a C not D as reported by AI.
LOL, u caught it!
