Good comparison, couple of points came to mind from my own usage of both cameras. AI Pro does have HDR. Its right there in the camera options to toggle off or back on, where you can also adjust brightness, contrast, etc. AI Pro has newer sensor, 2-way audio too that the G5 pro doesnt have. You can talk to people with the AI Pro just as if it would be G4 Instant. AI Pro is also only able to detect licence plates if you can see the plate on video. If you cannot see it, camera cannot detect that either. But the AI pro is also better than AI Bullet with detections, because the image is 4K vs 2K on the bullet version. I think G5 pro camera image is smoother yes but AI Pro has more detail on it, like deeper on the cracks on the ground there at 3:56. There seems to be also bug with G5 pro audio, see for yourself. Go talk in front of the camera or clap your hands, do something that makes a sound. You'll see that the G5 pro has a ~1 second audio delay. this only occurs on G5 pro, all other cameras are fine and I have wide range of unifi cameras. Theres also others with the same delay so i suspect you will have it too.
You don’t need to run a separate cat6 for the unifi floodlight. I have several floodlights running off a Unifi Flex powered by POE++ with a G4 Pro, UAP-AC-M Pro, g5 flex camera and floodlight all off one cat 6.
I ended up going with the AI Pros because of the color of the housing. It's nice to know that didn't make a huge difference. I just felt like big white cameras on the outside of a darker house was not very stealthy, and I wanted something that would blend in a bit better. Kinda wish they offered black or white on all of their cameras TBH
@@DPCTechnology That would be nice and I think a smart move on their part. Neither color is right for every situation, so having a choice would be great.
If you're having troubles with the AI hub and need to power cycle it, you could easily do it by power cycling the port on the switch that it's connected to (which can be done remotely with a UniFi switch). You could also label the cable or port at the POE switch that the hub is connected to and they can just unplug the ethernet cable and plug it back in when troubles arise as well. Unless you're using a POE injector to power the hub, in which case, you could plug the injector in to a cheap TP-link smart plug that someone can power cycle using a simple app. Thanks for the good review.

I have been wondering about the differences myself and whether the significant price difference is worth it. Thanks for this comparison. You are correct that the AI Pro is HDR. I do love that the AI PRo recognises the number plates, even with such a small area to recognise it. I definitely think the AI Pro could be amazing for people who need that. The standard AI features on the G5 Pro are pretty good in themself, hard to know what the best one would be and I feel it would come down to budget. By the way, there is a Vision Enhancer for the AI Pro also. 100 mbps vs 1gbps ethernet makes 0 difference as 100mbps can well and truly handle the 4K in CCTV/IP Cameras :) Adding the vision enhancer makes the G5 Pro a different beast as it adds a floodlight and enhanced IR, so price should be compared without the AI Enhancer.
It would be good to see how Ubiquiti's high end cameras (these two models) compare to the Hikvision ColorVu range. I can't help thinking Unifi is much more expensive but lower sensor quality.
Yeah, I have a $200 Hikvision ColorVu with a 1/1.2" sensor. Incredible image quality day and night. Obviously night vision will struggle the lower the light no matter the sensor. Biggest difference is my camera doesn't have IR, but Hikvision now has a hybrid line that has both ColorVu and IR, but for some reason the sensors are smaller than the pure ColorVu version.

Correct me if I’m wrong. But this video doesn’t focus at all on the most important question of all. Is detection good at ignoring things that it should ignore. I currently have another camera system that alerts to flies and spiders. Additionally, if I have a specific area zoned off as the only area I want detection in, so passing cars don’t set it off, there are times when the car headlights cast light into the detection zone. Or a person might be walking on the sidewalk in the evening when sun is low on horizon and they are far from the detection zone but their shadow is cast onto my driveway… not just a little, like the whole damn driveway has a shadow crossing it. Boom! Motion detection! Those types of detection fails render motion detection and notification completely useless. Notifications must be turned off and it’s a feature that cannot be used. So. Coming here, I’m wanting to know if Ubiquiti got it right.
This is a great comment. I do think unifi does a great job on it, but I didn't cover it on this review. I I'm filming a comparison of the AI bullet versus the G5 bullet and I will be sure to compare the two. Thanks for the thoughtful post!!
