I've come back to this video many times and it always worked just fine (thank you!). However with my new website, I always get the authentication failed message (after what you explain at 3:20) and I'm sure my email and password are correct. Any ideas on how to solve this?
Update: I deleted the "mail." everywhere and it worked now! You also have to add the new email address to your Hostgator account first. This is the video I used to figure it out: th-cam.com/video/-EKNutS7KVA/w-d-xo.html
Hi, sorry for the late reply. The process is the same regardless of the website domain. If you're trying to set up a new/different email, you'll need to go through the process from the beginning for the new email address.
Thank you for your instructions. I was wondering, could we also just delete our email at Hostgator and create the same email address over at Google Workspace? Would that be easier? Or would that not work?
Thanks for checking out my video. I'm not familiar with Google Workspace, but generally speaking, you have to set up your email account through your hosting provider for your domain because that's your domain's home address. There are some exceptions to this, and Google Workspace may be one of them similar to Microsoft Exchange. I just don't delve into this. I would suggest searching on TH-cam for Workspace & Hostgator to see what comes up. Thanks again for checking out my video.
This worked but now I'm facing another problem. I can only send an out of office through the primary email, but I can't do it for the second email address I added (with the help of this video). Any ideas on how to do that? The system doesn't allow me to pick an account, whereas for the email signature I can pick one... Thanks in advance!
Hello! Very helpful but I was wondering if you could help me with an "inverted" issue: I already had a gmail account and domain, and when acquired hostgator webhosting, I became unable to receive my emails on gmail. I wonder if you had any tips on that? Thank you!

When I click Add Account I get "Authentication Failed. Please check username/password. Server returned error: "TLS Negotiation failed, the certificate doesn't match the host., code: 550" Any advise?
Verify your username and password matches. Username should be the email address and the password is whatever you generated or used when you set up the account. You can always change the password in the Hostgator email config.
Hi, sadly it doesn't work for me. After entering SMPT server, Username, Password, 465 and clicking on Add Account, the next pop up window isn't the one with verification code, but a new gmail home window. Any ideas what to do? Thanks.
