As someone diagnosed with ADHD, I connect with this video on a deep level. Your emphasis on accurate diagnosis, professional help, and practical strategies like setting measurable goals, and utilizing productivity tools provided valuable guidance for managing ADHD. Thank you for creating such an informative and impactful video. You're a big inspo!
Two quotes I've really liked on this topic: "It's not my fault, but it's my responsibility" "It's an explanation, not an excuse". Honestly, your productivity advice seems way more impressive once I knew you have ADHD.
I've never been diagnosed with any kind of mental thing. Hey I'm Indian, mental stuff that doesn't exist, it's all in ur head. When Ruri described ADHD at first I was like wait I feel like I've been understood and felt good that my issues and inabilities are being addressed. Thank You very much for the video Ruri. This is the most closest to my heart kind of video.
Indian here. Read Driven to Distraction by Dr. Edward Hallowell. It was an eye opener for me, as adhd is not diagnosed in India much. The video creator here has used another of his books as a base for this video.
Hey I'm Indian myself can I say mental health is not considered a health aspect at all.. but even I felt adhd is something I kinda experienced in a mild way....during exams it hits harder though
When I was in my 50's I finally found out that I had ADHD after reading a book "Why Johnny Can't Learn". It was a mirror account of how I was successful in elementary school, only to have my grades crushed in Middle School and beyond and into my 70's. But I refuse to give up on a fulfilled life. I am a subscriber of yours.
Same! Everything was uphill after elementary school. I was also diagnosed recently, in midlife. I love how this pretty girl my daughter’s age is bringing together so many different people that are also of one feather.
Washing dishes is the most important thing in life, even super heroes clean first, and then save people))) I'm just finding new ways to keep myself "busy" while not moving forward
I think more and more people are relating to this, myself included. I suffer greatly from what you describe but I’m not willing to say I have ADHD or anything. Thank you for your guidance and keep up the great work!
I love your videos. I not only have ADHD, I'm also on the autism spectrum and I suffer from severe depression. It's almost impossible to get anything done. Even getting out of bed in the morning is a huge struggle.
Same here, ADHD with Asperger and formerly panic attacks, which I surpassed over the years. I agree that even a small thing like starting a day is a huge struggle... Not to mention being productive. I'm 35, and very recently, I found out that I have a thing for writing and making short movies, and I'm easily entering hyperfocus while I'm doing these things; that is what kicked me out of my bed and did something useful instead of watching anime or movies the whole day :) I hope you'll find what you are passionate about, keep trying! :) Oh, and white noise in the background the whole day is a great support for me :)
I'm autistic and I find this video helpful to me, because my repetitive behaviour and special insterests tend to distract me from important tasks. Thank u so much , you're a big inspiration and a beautiful soul ❤❤
When you feel exhaustion setting in, it is time to withdraw and restore yourself. If you feel demoralized, it is best to pause and recenter instead of acting from a place of depletion. If you can find time to unplug, do it. Reconnect with yourself in a big way if you can. And if you can’t, you can still recenter through tiny steps. Reclaim your first mountain here by committing to hydration, rest, nutrition, and movement, even in the tiniest amounts. Keep at it, and a natural rebalancing will begin.😮
Living with ADHD can make everyday tasks feel overwhelming. Thanks for the video to provide many strategies to help manage ADHD symptoms and get things done effectively.❤
I have been diagnosed in 4th grade and I had actually forgotten about it until I got into high school and struggled so hard with it to a point where people sort of diagnosed me with ADHD. That’s when it hit me that I got diagnosed years ago and I looked more into it, realizing that most of the things I struggled with in middle school and at that point in life came from my ADHD. It’s all connected. I just finished high school this year and I had honestly kind of stopped caring about my ADHD again because although I struggle a lot with it at times, I’m too lazy to do anything like therapy or medication. Now I’m watching this and it shows me again how ADHD is controlling my whole life. I’m just halfway through the video but especially the part about connecting to others hit hard, as I’ve never heard of this in relation to ADHD. I literally depend on being able to play video games with my online friends every single day. I mean I can take a break one or two days but if someone told me I had to stop ultimately, I would not survive. I currently watch all these videos about quitting social media or even technology and it’s all nice until they hit me with “quit videogames”. Of course it’s not productive but it makes me more than just happy. It makes me feel connected to people in a fun environment. I even force myself to play games I don’t love, because the “pain” of playing that game is a lot less than the pleasure of connecting with my friends, so it’s 100% worth every second of it. I’m so happy this finally makes me sound less like an insane person. Especially at times where I couldn’t understand how someone could tell me they don’t feel like playing tonight because the game is no fun. For me, this game doesn’t matter, the connection is everything. Now I finally know it is different for me than for “regular people”. I feel appreciated by this video and the information it gave me made it easier to love myself more and criticize myself less. Thank you ❤️
I've always operated better by connecting and engaging with people. It's what I'm good at. The problem is, important activites begin to pile up and even at my age, I do everything to avoid getting them done. Then, I hyper focus and set out to clear my plate snapping at others because I'm behind and upset that I'm not engaging! It's a viscious cycle and need a better plan today! You are making me a better person already! Bless you..
I like how you added more of your genuine character in this video. Of course this is still probably some version of TH-cam persona, but in this one it felt the most sincere. I somehow managed to align my ADHD and my learning needs at the moment. And all of those advices that you gave are extremely good, but I had to come up with all of those by myself, through trial and error. The only thing that is remotely close to being a solution for me, is building a routine around it. Routine of doing something at least 5 minutes, removing everything that can steal the attention just out of my sight. Sometimes it's okay to do your work for 5 minutes and call it a day. But most of the time I get this flow state and can do the seemingly monotonous work/studying for hours while ignoring both hunger and tiredness until my head explodes. And I added some things that I tend to be distracted with to my routine. For example, guitar playing. It's much harder to play for hours instead of doing work when you feel like you are obligated to be playing the guitar daily. Sometimes I play for 5 minutes to fulfill the quota and put it back. And it's okay. The biggest thing is that you should have a mindset of CULTIVATING the work flow instead of trying to just sit and work hard. Being consistent is king. It's better to be consistent with being able to do 5 minutes of work every day instead of being able to work 35 minutes but ones a week. But trust me, once you allow yourself to start small, you will find yourself doing hours of work just out of the blue. One of the biggest challenges of having ADHD, is hating yourself for having it and for not having a "normal" brain. Once you stop approaching yourself like a regular person would and accept your brain having it's limitations, and start to work around it, it will remove much of the pressure and make you be able to use it to your benefit.
As someone with ADHD (diagnosed at a young age), I can relate to this video, and it's points on so many levels. Yes, living with ADHD is hard, but never give up. t's a burden, but also a gift.
I LOVE your accent. It's so hypnotizing to listen to your voice - this is a key part of your success, I believe. Your content is top notch and you are hitting on a lot of topics that people want to hear answers to. To tackle these topics and organize thoughts and content around it is respectable. I'm also really impressed with your background and your hustle to grow and improve your content. Most people have no idea how much time and effort goes into creating this sort of content. Keep up the great work!
Today I saw your video as a signal of god, I was about to spend my time doing nothing, Now i'm going to follow my dreams, I'm going to start my youtube channel today, I has been thinking about this but I always get distracted and I do nothing, but with this video everything in my life is going to change, there's not coming back, I will remember this comment as the first day I started changing and doing what I love, so I'm going to look back to this video and see the results of everything I will achieve, thank you Ruri, you are the example of succes and the inspiration I needed.
Appreciate your advice here. It’s nice to know we’re not alone with feelings of procrastination and it’s perfectly normal to go through these phases of lacking motivation and drive🙂 Love your videos!
I’m 41. I’ve felt like a failure throughout most of my adult life. Only recently have I considered that I might have ADHD and though I’m not diagnosed/tested, most of what people with ADHD explain resonates heavily with me. Seeing how successful you are despite having ADHD gives me hope.
I used to have bad diet it caused me to be adhd-ing HARD. I now eat more fat, meat, bones and spices. These remove toxins. Thankfully I am much better. Also my mental health has been bettering first. Healing produces healing.
^^^^^^ I cleaned my diet up completely 2 months ago. Went cold turkey on all processed sugar, processed food and fast food. Now I have my original cognitive function back. Brain fog that has followed me for years has cleared up in a matter of weeks and my creativity has come back.
So relatable, at least for me. I've never went to therapy so Idk if I actually have ADHD, but I feel so many things that could indicate I've lived with that for 29 years now.
I've been feeling this way and was ashamed to say, but I'm procrastinating a lot. This video came at the right time. Thank you for your excellent videos. They are the only ones I pay full attention to.
It seems that I’m in multitasking mode lately. My focus to get things done seems to sharpen when I’m pressed for time or under a deadline. I’m learning everyday the art of time management which can be difficult at times. It was great to see you again. Can’t wait to see your next video 😉
So, I'm 36 in August and I was diagnosed with ADHD 30 years ago. I never did any of the things mentioned in the video; unfortunately, I was diagnosed at a time where it was seen as a nonsense condition, and nobody really knew how to deal with it, particularly in someone so young, so I was told that I should just get over it, stop being so difficult, and grow up. You don't outgrow it. It doesn't go away, and I never had professional help or the support base to deal with it effectively; I just had to get on with life the best way I could, which is probably why I'm unemployed and still living with my parents at my age. Don't get me wrong, it's not been all bad. I've developed skills and mental attitudes to help me focus even on things that don't interest me, which is how I'm getting through the course work for my degree, but it's not easy and I've found that, in addition to mental effort, it takes considerable physical effort for me to stay focused, the net result is that I'm mentally and physically exhausted after a long day of studying. I've been looking into ways to promote quality sleep, which is crucial for productive studying, and I'll be trying some of the tips out in this video out. I'd love to let you know how it goes.
Not confident enough in self diagnosis to say I have adhd, but I do seem to check more than a few boxes... From a personal perspective, I've found what I would call "frustration management" - setbacks impede or completely stop the flow state. One thing I've found helps with this is kind of... short term mental planning ahead for steps in the event of such a setback, because that allows the brain to smoothly flow forwards towards a goal instead of getting stuck on an obstacle and "hanging up" as it were. Not sure if I'm quite making sense, but to try and summarise... when trying to focus, keep in mind what could go wrong, and it becomes easier to adapt when something does go wrong. But, and this is important, don't go turning yourself into an anxious mess by wondering and worrying about scary things too much.
Ngl. I discovered by ur videos that I can have adhd and that diagnose confirmed. Thanks to you my life gets better as I started to take adhd pills and attend psychotherapy. U saved one more life from misery! Thanks
I feel like the best advice I've received is to be kind to myself. No point in layering on additional guilt and shame when I don't feel accomplished - it's counterintuitive.
I've started multiple colleges, but I didn't drop any because I disliked them, but because I thought I'd enjoy the next one even more. I've never managed to start a musical instrument, because I could never decide between violin, piano, transverse flute, or guitar. I've specialized in photography (during the era of photography, I studied everything there was to study), drawing, and I've earned money with design (I studied brand consulting) even though I am an engineer, leader or a procurement team, I also spend time creating and formatting academic papers for others. At work, I create complex robots to perform repetitive tasks because if I need to pull a simple report every day, I would often fail, while I set up the entire data strategy, something super complex, in the company, as it involves creativity and assembling this huge puzzle. I have infinite hobbies, and when I become obsessed with something, I don't stop studying it, until I feel I've exhausted it and move on to something else. I can't decide which Hogwarts house I'd belong to, because I love them all and see the good side of each of them, just as I can't choose a class in D&D, because I love all of them. I procrastinate, but with loud classical music, I enter a state of intense focus. I create innovations to avoid routine, because it defeats me every time, and finally, even though exhausted, I hate sleeping, it makes me feel really bad.
Meditate for 15 minutes helps as well. I’ve learn that with one of my mentors Sam Ovens he do have a video about that subject. The simple fact to do it put my productivity out of the roof. Just sit on a confortable place with no noise and no sound, close your eyes stay in silence, move as little as possible and breathe through your nose. You’ll have some thoughts who comes everytime (irrelevants thoughts as she said), you need to deflect them and that is it. I can tell you you’ll feel different at the end of 15 minutes and focus on your tasks. @Ruri I discover your channel less than a week and I can tell you I love each and every video you’ve done. Your level of wisdom is huge and the way that you keep me on a super focus mode when I watch your videos (did my lesson lol) amaze me everytime. You are an inspiration and I’m an entrepreneur too, I do everything all over again since I found your Chanel and I was litterally procrastinating and I said to myself « I know Ruri have a video about procrastination I’ve to watch it » and I did. I relate a lot on your story as well I’m French, and I speak English fluenty. Thank you Ruri and keep working for you and to inspire us. ❤ Ps: I did apply some days ago to learn how to run a YT channel with you.
Thank you, I have been watching your videos for about a year now and often you help a lot, give motivation or awareness of some problem, help not to give up and move forward, I am very grateful to you for this, keep making videos!
Hi Ruri! I find that I can set goals and maintain longer-term visions of up to 1 to 2 x years. However I was raised in a disciplinarian environment via Air Force Cadets and I was raised this way due to high functioning Aspergers. In general, I find that I tend to struggle to track goals and progress. Focusing mostly on outcomes like KPIs even though life isn't a business. But life isn't linear which requires some elements of spontaniety to react to. Sending out the love from down under. My fellow colleagues and watch your videos and always find inspiration and insight into what you put into your work. Love from Down Under ... i.e. Australia 😊
Ruri This video was a gem 💎For me I took off Facebook for two years on my phone and counting. For me I did view Facebook as a distraction this was a good video breakdown keep up the awesome content 😎
Never had a description about myself so correct than this 😭It's weird but I was scared I self-diagnose myself with ADHD just to cover up my laziness since I don't have a lot of the typical symptoms they usually talked about. Such a relief to know this piece of information
I can’t help thinking she is a perfect Wednesday Adams. Her face is so unique and lovely. I ended up watching multiple videos of hers because her accent is interesting, her advice is accurate, and her face is fascinating - In that order. 😊
Hi Ruri for focusing better pleasant music is also helpful like in your videos while you speak the background music is running. Thank you for making videos every week 😅
In our journey, there comes a time when we seek the reassuring voice of someone who has walked our path before, reminding us that it's perfectly alright to encounter challenges. For no soul traverses this existence unscathed by tribulations. Yet, it is the truest treasure when another soul opens up and shares their own struggles, illuminating our way with their wisdom and guidance. In those moments, even a gentle nudge from the outside world can wield immeasurable power and propel us forward. Thank you Ruri. This is a piece of a "thing" I'm writing... MAybe I'll publish a book one day :D
So I'm gonna be real with you, as someone with ADHD I can tell you that unless you are medicated you will not be able to carry out any coping or management of life for your goals long term. You can be told to do things to create structure but without medication giving your brain the proper chemicals you wont be able to execute on them when the time comes. If you cant get adhd meds or SSRI's at least you are screwed. Life is just hard for you. Id love to see a video about the secret answer to this hopeless reality. That some people wont be able to get medication or take it for one reason or another preventing them from moving forward. ADHD is a spectrum which means everyone has different severities of the diagnosis in different areas not just inatentiveness or hyperactivity. This just means yours might be different than mine. but I personally with my own diagnosis have found that i just cant. Burnout hurts. And if you cant do medication therapy seems to be kind of a cycle of admitting how uncapable you are. Ok comment over.
Thanks for this comment. I got my diagnosis last year (alongside some others) and have been unable to work for two years now due to not being capable to do anything productive and being overwhelmed easily. My doctor said I'd need medication but I'm so scared of it and in addition always see content of people (also medical professionals) saying medication is not necessary and that you'd just need to establish some routines. Which... I just can't and feel even more useless and stupid 😂 It's frustrating.

Thankyou very much Ruri, you might be saving people about giving clarity to people understanding and that includes me, thankyou very much you are really saving me, this is me today in college having hard time managing my time, I think i do have adhd as well, but people like you are saving us, and I am really thankful and grateful for it, I really loved your videos you are building my mindset. You are one of the best
Ruri, I would watch your videos even if you said "don't watch this video!" Because I'm at the point now where I pretty like when you express your thoughts. Setting a goal in a specific time frame can really help to avoid procrastination. Personally, I use a timer on my laptop to controll my time spent at the computer. It creates a sense of urgency in me to get my tasks done.

Like why did she explain it so well???
I feel attacked but also so inspired at the same time!
I had replied to you with a reason why you felt so. But it seems the creator deleted my comment.
yeah it's hard to swallow best option is that you need swallow up just move forward
Excellent video as always. Thank you Ruri 😊😊😊
Your channel is the best, i wont repeat myself.
you are such a savier I've been currently dealing with this problem thank you ❤❤
I've started multiple colleges, but I didn't drop any because I disliked them, but because I thought I'd enjoy the next one even more.
Clear results of all those hours in the gym. Keep up the work!
Yes, Diagnosed with ADHD in my late fifties yet I managed 5 Businesses very successfully during my late thirties
Ps: I did apply some days ago to learn how to run a YT channel with you.

Ruri gives the best advice. Her channel really changed my life :)
Love from Down Under ... i.e. Australia 😊
Thank you for everything u gave to society actually you are a wonderful person

Connection as a cornerstone of adhd management plan.
Find connection, use your connection.
Sounds like a plan.
I already drifted off but back on track now!😊
Never had a description about myself so correct than this 😭It's weird but I was scared I self-diagnose myself with ADHD just to cover up my laziness since I don't have a lot of the typical symptoms they usually talked about. Such a relief to know this piece of information
Love you soo so much Ruri...!! 💙✨
i fall in love just in 20s of your video
I can’t help thinking she is a perfect Wednesday Adams. Her face is so unique and lovely. I ended up watching multiple videos of hers because her accent is interesting, her advice is accurate, and her face is fascinating - In that order. 😊
Hi Ruri for focusing better pleasant music is also helpful like in your videos while you speak the background music is running. Thank you for making videos every week 😅

once helped me mood stabilizers but now helps stoicism
In our journey, there comes a time when we seek the reassuring voice of someone who has walked our path before, reminding us that it's perfectly alright to encounter challenges. For no soul traverses this existence unscathed by tribulations. Yet, it is the truest treasure when another soul opens up and shares their own struggles, illuminating our way with their wisdom and guidance. In those moments, even a gentle nudge from the outside world can wield immeasurable power and propel us forward.
Thank you Ruri. This is a piece of a "thing" I'm writing... MAybe I'll publish a book one day :D
I love the way she says "tasks"
Thanks for sharing your tips and knowledge with us Ruri ❤ I love the way you structure your videos 🌟
Thanks for the video. As someone with mild Asperger’s, this is super helpful 👌

Right when i needed this video thanks ruri❤ also we need more vlogs❤

Big Fan from Bhutan. Thank you for the video. It helps a lot.
I discovered your chanel when it had around 60K subscribers. Been watching your videos since then. Azərbaycandan sevgilər 🇦🇿 ❤
Really inspired by your channel Ma'am Thank You ❤
Another great. I'd be interested in seeing you do a video on high functioning autism. It can be a curse and a blessing.
Damn, Ruri's channel has really exploded I noticed. Well done. ❤
I appreciate this a lot!
Good stuff Ruri, thank you 🙏
The first 2 minutes was like as if you were reading my soul! 😮
