I love black eyed peas, not just for the holidays. But, for the holidays, I indulge in ham hocks instead of smoked turkey. AND I add bacon pieces too. Indulgent! Not for weekly consumption that way! OH but soo delicious!

My oldest sister used to make black eyes peas with ham hocks every year at new years watching you make yours, sure brought back memories. she's been gone since 2009.

My New Year's resolution is just to stay healthy and live for my babies I've lost so many people to this devil made covid I wish God's protection over everyone and have faith people that we are covered with the blood stay safe everyone Thank You Mrs. Young when we were on lock down I binged watched all of your videos.

Yes I will be making black eye peas
I remember as a child, my Grandmother making black eyed peas and ham hocks was a New Year's tradition. It has stayed with our family and I hope it continues. My Grandmother said you should never have beef on New Year's because beef animals use their hooves to push the dirt backwards, have ham hocks or anything to do with pork, as pigs use their snouts to root forward and we want to move forward in the upcoming New Year not backwards. That's what I was told at any rate. I love it and I love your videos. I hope you and your family have a wonderful New Year.

I always have blackeye peas too but I dont put all of that in mean . I use ham and seasoning and thsts it . That just some like alot of seasoning but your using 3 pretty good size bags . I use 1 small bag for my small family of 2 people plus i fix cabbage and corn bread

Here in New Orleans for the New Year, we always have rice, cabbage and blackened peas with pickled tips and ham hocks, along with cornbread. We also have praline cake for dessert. Happy New Year to you and your family

I’m making my black eyed peas in the crock pot using Better than bullion’s ham base, my Xmas ham bone and ham meat. Also cooking baby back ribs, fried chicken, white rice, collard greens and corn muffins.
