God of war 2018 is one of the best games ever for me because it help me get closer with my fathers death with happend a little under a year from when it came out. Kratos in that game is remarkably like how my father actually was and it just helped me dealing with lots of things
I understand that I am just as much a stranger to you as I can be.. but I feel the necessity to tell you that I am glad for you to have such a great bond with your father (rest in peace) and I am also glad for you to have had such an important experience with this great medium of gaming in which we can all enjoy.
Totally agree on AC2. The first game had a little touch of weirdness, but the ending of AC2 I was like "Oh...okay...getting real weird with it I'm on board!"
Dragons Dogma was wild, too. After defeating the main dragon, a hole opens up and destroys half of the lands capital city, and the end of the post game has you becoming god and learning the circularity of time. Weird stuff.
You don't become a god, its similar to Dark Souls' ending where you link the flame and keep the darkness away, except you succeed the Seneshel and become the cornerstone that keeps the world from falling apart Pretty much in both games you're condemned to an eternity of servitude

Really cool that Dave mentioned Killzone: Shadow Fall. This game is so underrated and its Story was quite compelling and interesting. I loved the ending, was super surprising.

This list being specifically about endings pretty much disqualifies the reveal of Project Zero Dawn in Horizon: Zero Dawn, since it happens hours before the finale.

Loving the new backdrop and lighting! Looks very sharp. FFVII's post-credits scene threw me for a loop the first time. The entire game was an emotional ride, especially it's ending - but then the credits roll, and afterward you learn that the heroes haven't been forgotten, even half a millennium later. Their story lives on in history, which adds to the weight and poignancy of everything they went through.
Literally thought I was hallucinating when this happened after I had been playing all night on Christmas. Woke up my older sister to tell me if I was going nuts!
Oh my God, that ending was so bold and impactful. I freaking cried during the credits when the Joker started singing "Only You". ...and then Mr. J. gets revived in Arkham Knight (never played this game, so I don't know why this happened).

I was absolutely fascinated with Assassin's Creed in the beginning, and I think Rob understands that level of fascination. The first time I played through the ending of AC II I was so encapsulated by it all and I recall my mind going in many directions with the possibilities, and I couldn't wait for the next instalment! I think I was one of the few who liked and was invested in the real world story as much if not more than the time-period story, although I loved the historical backdrops, Renaissance Italy is certainly a favourite of mine.
shadow hearts covenant, back in the days of the ps2, seeing everyone sent through time to the places they most want to be, seeing the main character yuri sent back through time to the beginning of the first shadow hearts game, and one of the other characters sent back in time where she meets yuris dad and would alter become yuris mother also, sony really need to add the shadow hearts games to psnow,

AC2 will always be one of my recommended platinums for someone who doesn't have one yet. It's pretty easy, but also a great game. The only annoying bit is collecting the feathers, but there is an interactive map online that makes it really easy, just a bit time-consuming.
Assassin's Creed 2 was my first Platinum as well. My latest was the new God of War. (Edit) I wrote that before I know they were going to talk about God of War lol. That's cool.
My was also Assassin's creed 2, followed very closely by prince of Persia 2008. Sometimes I have to check because I can't remember what one a got first lol
DmC: Devil May Cry. I know a lot of DMC fans despise it, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit (AND DMC 1-5 is still one of my favorite series in gaming!) and I was really looking forward to the ending. Here was a parallel universe setting where Vergil and Dante were actually acting like brothers, friendly with each other and helping each other out as best they could, NOT constantly trying to rip one another to pieces! My favorite scenes in the entirety of the series are the mid-fight and post-fight cutscenes when the twins join forces to take down Arkham in DMC3, so I was thrilled by this setup (even though it wasn’t the same Dante and Vergil). So you defeat Mundus, the brothers are reunited, and all is well. Or so you think, because Vergil reveals that he believes as Nephilim, he and Dante are practically required to act as humanity’s overlords, to rule and guide them as though they were nothing but helpless sheep. Even Kat-a woman he displayed clear feelings for in the prequel comics-is not worthy to stand as his equal, free to live as she wills instead of under someone else’s thumb, simply because she is human and therefore weak. Now there is a kind of twisted reasoning here, since DmC’s humans have been living unknowingly under demonic control for ages and none of them have ever really thought for themselves by themselves up to this point. But Dante vehemently disagrees, claiming that humans deserve to live their own lives free from control, regardless of where their choices take them. The brotherly relationship just crumbles as they duke it out, and it ends in a really heartbreaking way with Dante declaring himself as humanity’s protector, promising to defend them from the demons....and from Vergil. Vergil puts on a brave face and leaves, but you find out in the DLC that this parting broke him and ultimately resulted in his corruption and fall. I’ve played the game several times since it was released, and the ending always kills me. At least DMC5 left them somewhat friendly with each other in the original universe, but still. Not fair, DmC. Not fair.
HZD, because everything is always about HZD for me. After the credits, and you see Hades reunite with Sylens in front of a huge, monstrous robot. What is Sylens going to do with Hades and that machine? Will he be able to control it? When will the sequel come out?
I thought I didn't care about spoilers until I played God of War. I heard some reviews, but didn't hear any spoilers. I was so glad I didn't because that was a mind blower at the end.

jak 2 threw for me for a loop "time travel, really makes the head hurt" but for real dragon quest XI, "you can save your friend" i just went for that, and I saved the world and my friend and everything was good and they said "thank you for everything" and i saved a picture of that, they didn't know about time travel and all that i forget why but ugh it was worth it 11/10 favorite rpg
About "God of War" ending, this is something I never see them say, but in a Spoilercast from another channel, Cory Barlog said that what comes out of Kratos's body in the mural is a kind of snake (or worm) of Nordic mythology who is responsible for bringing the memories of deceased people to someone they love
I've never been much of an achievement chaser, but Assassin's Creed 2 was the first game I can remember actively wanting to platinum. I pretty much just ignored the modern day stuff, though.
I love all the content from the team at playstation access... But the couch and old set up was much better as a background. It felt cosy and lived in, in a good way.

One if my favourite endings in a game was the end of Darksiders! "You would wage this war alone...." "No......not alone" Then you see the other three horsemen appear and credits role. Amazing!!
I'm going to go with an old, possibly obscure title from the PS1; The Grandstream Saga. It was an interesting RPG with challenging combat and a final boss that forced you to sacrifice one of your own in order to win.
About God of war, I thought it would be cool if real Loki actualy was something like guide or an ally for Kratos, who is kinda big bad guy in his games. And then on the end Atreus said what name Fay wanted for him and I was like "WHOOOAAA, he actualy acompany me on the whole way!"
If Rosie wasn't working for Access she would make an awesome voice actor for cartoon characters. Something tells me that would be a deep well for her to draw from...
For me it was the end of mgs4. Don‘t wanna spoil too much. But at the end of the credit roll you see a name next to a characters voice and I was thinking like „huh? Where was that?“ And then an additional sceen happens. But hey it‘s Kojima we are talking about. 🤗
It’s presumed Kratos is dead but all the other carvings had red markings, and had a different tunic than the one lying down and it has no red marks Kratos I think not.
I don't get to play a lot of video games anymore. But the final game in the career/turorial mode of Blood Bowl 2, all the rats on the enemy team can randomly transform into Giant Rat Ogres.

Actually, the biggest “WHAT?” to me was the realization that Baldur didn’t know Kratos was a god. Baldur thought Kratos was a giant
Yeah the I thought youd be bigger comment threw me off for a minute but its interesting that Faye was a giant but was normal sized also. So the fact that baldur said that is kinda odd when you think about it
Death stranding. Not that's it is confusing but the reveal. If you've played it, you know what I'm talking about.

AC odyssey was very similar. With the whole "message to the other person" bit. Uhg, I loved AC Odyssey and Origins. I really like the direction they went compared to the older games like AC 2.

I'm going to go with an old, possibly obscure title from the PS1; The Grandstream Saga. It was an interesting RPG with challenging combat and a final boss that forced you to sacrifice one of your own in order to win.

About God of war, I thought it would be cool if real Loki actualy was something like guide or an ally for Kratos, who is kinda big bad guy in his games. And then on the end Atreus said what name Fay wanted for him and I was like "WHOOOAAA, he actualy acompany me on the whole way!"
If Rosie wasn't working for Access she would make an awesome voice actor for cartoon characters.
Something tells me that would be a deep well for her to draw from...

The sci fi element in Assassin’s Creed is not the underlying story, it’s the main story....well it used to be.
KZSF was a great game; the platinum was a rough ride but the story was solid.
For me it was the end of mgs4. Don‘t wanna spoil too much. But at the end of the credit roll you see a name next to a characters voice and I was thinking like „huh? Where was that?“
And then an additional sceen happens.

It’s presumed Kratos is dead but all the other carvings had red markings, and had a different tunic than the one lying down and it has no red marks Kratos I think not.

I don't get to play a lot of video games anymore. But the final game in the career/turorial mode of Blood Bowl 2, all the rats on the enemy team can randomly transform into Giant Rat Ogres.
