- Banjo-Tooie is more than a simple sequel to Banjo-Kazooie. No no no, it is so much more than that. Unlike many other sequels, they didn't just reuse all the same characters, moves, or locations. Instead, they added to the original formula by keeping the old moves and adding new ones along with new characters and new locations. And now it's time to see how all this came together!

Hm, I wonder why they never consider to put Bottles Revenge in the Banjo-Tooie XBox remaster, since they put even the Stop 'n Swop in this too. That would've been great!

I'm still mad that Microsoft originally announced Devil Bottles Mode would be available in their rerelease in Banjo-Tooie, but when players noticed it wasn't there, Microsoft eventually announced they decided to exclude it, because they wanted it to feel closer to the original gameplay... What a dick move...

Agreed. Nothing pisses me off more than this "Oh we wanted it to feel like the original" If I wanted to play the original I'd just play the fucking original. It's a dickhead lazy excuse not to work. Just port it over. PokemonORAS was the exact same "No trainer customization because we wanted it to feel like the original release"..... Fuck off developers. FUCK RIGHT OFF!

Bottles Revenge was reused as counter op mode in Perfect dark, Rare were innovators in asymetrical multiplayer
Rare was way ahead of their time when they were partnered with Nintendo. Too sad the latter let them go...
If Bottle's Revenge was a mode in the final game it would be a nice speedrunning tactic being able to control bosses and enemies
Yoshi Sonic 35 Speedrunning is the reason I don't think bosses would have been a good idea for the mode. Mr. Patches was a handfull and would have been really easy if you could keep him still. I still agree that the mode would have been awesome, if not trouble some without splitscreen.

God Gonx You know, I never realized until just now how much it sounds like a creepypasta. I knew about it for a few years. I even played with it a little. Though the minimap in the corner didn't render properly. Now I see why there was this giant transparent egg on the screen whenever you activated it!

@@lugbzurg8987 I bought a copy of Banjo Tooie from an old man, I started the game and bottles died and then the evil bottles looked at me with hyper realistic eyes and they started to bleed hyper realistic blood and he haunted me, the end

Too bad, I either knew these things already or they weren't that amazing. But it's still cool. I didn't know about that head-icon for the truck and other characters. These guys really knew what they were doing and the first time they show it, it's already soo polished! Yooka-Laylee will be a great revival of my childhood. Heck, it's one of the games that technically has a chance of becoming my new favourite game! (I guess only a Banjo-esque game can do that for me....)

During the Tower of Tragedy quiz, there is a Zubba head with Bottles' voice. You didn't mention it. This could suggest that Bottles' ghost was possibly going to possess a Zubba's body during the game's story, possibly during the Bottles' Revenge mode, or maybe it was a place holder like the Jinjo and Gobi talk icons were.

@OmegaChase1002 Nope, we can confirm this from the Mumbo alt that was in one of the screenshots that referenced Freezeazy Peak.

@OmegaChase1002 There was a screenshot released of a pink furred Banjo with an orange Kazooie. The shorts, backpack, and yellow feather tips stayed the same color. This is an obvious nod to Mumbo. The screenshot itself has an ice background and a launch star, referencing the star on top of the tree you fly in 3 times in Freezeazy Peak.

I noticed something. Bottles’ voice when he’s an evil spirit sounds more echoed than his normal ghost voice
I doubt Humba ever used Mumbo tokens, I'm sure as you said before they were a place holder icon for the newly introduced Glowbos.
I love watching what these used to like in beta so cool.
Why would they take out the sound for collecting the last piece in a world? That was a good feature.
The game is a lot more nonlinear, with a lot of collectibles being locked behind other worlds.
It would be really confusing to get the "you beat the level" but "the level" was actually a different one.
There's also more to progression than just the collectibles which might make a player leave prematurely.

Can you do an episode on Twilight Princess? It has one of the most interesting betas out there.
That bottle's revenge thing would've been like the counter-operative mode in Perfect Dark. It makes the game that much more fun to play.

Omg...the very last clip...I never knew you could climb that broken bridge!!!! I always used the other flight pad.
One thing I did have found in Banjo-Tooie through loading levels/courses is the Grey Jinjo house. When you get in, it says SHOULD NOT BE HERE. JINJO's HOUSE (or something similar). Also done with a Gameshark code, I'm pretty sure you people will find that one on your own once you've found all the Jinjo houses codes, since there's just one not used in the list.
Other than that, B-T feels pretty solid, they really tried to push the Nintendo 64 to its limits as how the game's rendered and how much quality it actually has. Great game. :)

Banjo-Tooie Was Great Game
This was my idea! Thanks guys who helped my idea make it.
Your intro is missing the one key thing that made Banjo Tooie so freaking good.
It kept 100% of the design fundamentals, game controls, and aesthetics of the first game. They didn't fix what was broken, like Nuts 'n' Bolts did, along with most other game sequels.
I've played this game SO many times over the past ten years.
And I never knew you could reach the ladder to Gruntilda's lair by doing a flap flip, which I discovered in the last ten seconds of this video. I always thought you had to use a flying pad...

The release build of the game was created on 9/23/2000, so quite a bit was actually added in the short time since the 8/28/2000 demo. Really interesting.
I don't remember ever climbing the broken bridge to Gruntilda's Lair. I always used the Flight Pad on top of Spiral Mountain.
Man I've been waiting for this! :) tho there weren't that many things in beta Banjo-Tooie beta.
Speaking of bottles revenge... It IS a shame that they didn't use this on the N64. I'm surprised they brought the stop N Swap on XBLA! Wonder why they didn't do the same for this... Would've been amazing!

I liked the reference to Dream in Banjo-Tooie. In one world Banjo anf Kazooie visit a drunk pirate in a bar and he talks about how a bear and bird stole his dream. I think there are also pictures of from Dream on the wall behind him as well.

I remember hearing about the Devil Bottles scrapped mechanic in the early GameFAQs days. Not sure how I feel about it, would’ve been a cool mechanic, but a little distracting possibly, I assume devil bottles would only appear over your head if a second controller was actually plugged in. Kinda also distracts from the storyline element of wanting to avenge poor Bottles, but I guess that was mainly to be played as a gag anyway.
I remember doing that evil bottles thing at the end!
I remember when I first saw Devil Bottles. I was playing the Tower of Tragedy Quiz with my brother when we were little, and for some reason the Devil Bottles icon appeared for one of the answers.
Boy, that Devil Bottles thing creeped me out after loading the Banjo Tooie rom in an emulator, it caught me by surprise, never saw that before

"Few video game sequels done right"? I think of a ton of great video game sequels, such as Kingdom Hearts II, Street Fighter II, Super Mario World, Devil May Cry 3, Team Fortress 2, and this list is gonna go on forever unless I stop now.

Loved these types of games that let you discover huge levels as you gradually learned new moves to allow you to explore more and learn more moves. Fuck the pay to play garbage that comes out nowadays
Never got to play Banjo games but its sure looks fun and the 2 player stuff seems sad that the world never got it.
I love these 3D games and I hope that Yooka Laylee can help revive them. Great video.

There's an unused cutscene where Klungo walks towards the boulder in the beginning. The cutscene is still there, however, its off screen, Klungo is a dark shadow and he has no walking animation.
bottles revenge sounds like it would have been great. I hope they put something like that in yooka laylee!
Not sure if anyone’s pointed this out yet, but the egg order is different in the beta footage. It has ice eggs before grenade eggs.

...the biggest surprise to me here is that you can climb up the fallen bridge in Spiral Mountain, I always thought you absolutely had to fly.
Bottles' Revenge kinda weirds me out. Why would Bottles just be revived at the end if he wanted to terrorize Banjo? It's probably Kazooie's fault, but, you know what I'm talking about.
Bottles is like that innocent character that's there to help. I love him. And this gives me new insight.
But alas, great video. I fully completed Banjo-Kazooie, yet I haven't done much in Tooie. Time to get back to that.
