This is the first part in a three-part series, part two will cover Demo, Heavy and Engineer.

nah manmelter offers so much funny buffs that you cant just put it in f tier straight, its just tended to take care of snipers with that proj speed. and you forgot nostromo napalmer😞

@@ihohxoykg What impact? It's just a reskin. The lolichop takes you to pyroland. I would say that's a bigger impact.

@@ihohxoykg Huh? That's only if you have tue full set. Also the scout has to have the full set. In my 2000h of playtime I only saw one or two scouts wearing that. Also if that situation ever happens the scout also deals more damage to you so it makes no difference.
The chance of meeting a full alien set scout is so small that it basically never happens.
cow mangler is a straight upgrade to rocket launcher if you're pushing last with lots of power classes
even if too many engineers disabling one sentry or dispenser can be invaluable in cramped or stall-y areas like barnblitz last or badwater last
not to mention you can potentially one shot the engineer behind the sentry, denying both defense and maintenance of last

If you're playing in a server with no random crits, don't have a kritzkreig medic and the enemy team isn't spamming engies (which your demomen and other soldiers can deal with) the Cow Mangler is stock without having to retreat for ammo
As a scout main (yes life), I think your scout weapon ranking is spot on. I'd put sun on a stick in buff though.

Disagree on the jetpack. Yes the switch speed is slow and it can feel clunky, but you can 100% use it to escape a situation, ive done it countless times when there was no other way to survive. doesn't always work, but when you realize early enough that youre in a fight you cant win, its like demos shield charge, getting you to safety easily. and its also useful to approach your enemies from above, especially with the backburner. if youre quick to react it can also save you from fall damage when youre knocked in the air since it negates most of it, or even from falling off a cliff. AND you can goomba stomp people, which is very useful for heavies since it removes about a third of their health before you fight them. id definitely put it in the low B tier
One thing I hate about it tho and I have no idea why they added that, is that it pushes enemies back if you land close to them. that just ruins everything because 1. theyre knocked out of your effective range and 2. theyll immediately notice youre there. no idea why valve added this bullshit feature like ive been using the jetpack quite a lot now and there wasnt a single situation where i thought "oh thank god I knocked the enemies away from me when ambushing them!!"
My takeaway points from this video:
- First of all, nice! These types of video spark discussion about weapon balance and meta which is always nice to see. Btw, keep in mind these are only my disagreements, assume i probably agreed with everything else you said.
Now, about the actual video:
• Scout
- Don't really get why you didn't put the madmilk on A. Literally banned in some leagues from being so powerful in teamfights and i've seen some comp scouts swear it's the best secondary there is. Giving your entire team a "pseudobuff" on demand is ridiculous.
- Boston basher is overrated because it is the best in 6s. In 6s the "combo" is the medic, demo and pocket scout. Pocket scout uses the boston basher to build uber. That's it. Just a format thing. Soda popper also is broken in this format - hence it's also banned. But since we ain't talking about these leagues either way, the placement is pretty good.
• Soldier
- Blackbox on C tier is bonkers. Being able to give yourself up to 60+hp on any fight is REALLY good. A soldier with the blackbox will always be above the 200hp threshold when he 1v1s a scout or another soldier. Same reason why madmilk is _so_ good. At the very least top of B.
• Pyro
- Scorch shot is overrated. It may be a pubstomping weapon and braindead easy-to-use, but if you have a good team around you aren't supposed to struggle with it. It overlaps with detonator in so many ways it's disgusting. The only thing unique to it is the stunlock. Imo you either keep that aspect and get rid of every else or rework it entirely.
- Shotgun is A tier. Degreaser is A tier. These are the _meta_ bro xd. You use Degreaser because you want airblast available all the time, _not because of combos_ . Shotgun is arguably better than the panic attack, but that discussion would take way too long.
thanks! tbh I'm ranking from my own experience but looking back i can admit a couple of my placements are a little nutty. This is mostly personal experience in casual mode.

The atomizer is too slow for scout, the winger is much better if you want extra vertical mobility. I’d swap their places.
Yeah but sometimes you don’t want to sacrifice a pistol/milk for a better jump
@@billyboleson2830 the winger still works perfectly for what the pistols are best for, finishing off targets. Plus the wrapped assassin and Boston basher offer much more utility.
I think items in E (and seldom D) should be buffed sometimes a little. (A could warrant some nerfs sometimes)
i was tempted to put the soda popper in a tier but yeah i agree, the A and E tier weapons are bordering on nerf/buff territory depending on the weapon

I think the phlog is one of the best flame thrower. At the cost of air blast you can just wipe the enemy team specially if you have uber. when could it be useless?
the other 98% of the time when you have to fight an enemy without mmmph or a medic :p

Airblasting will always be more useful than wm1 because it give pyro utility and survivability which the phlog lacks :p
@@wtzhang586 I play the game casually don't have time to get good at airblast. You said it yourself it works against bad players. Good enough.
@@wtzhang586 That's not necessarily true. I have a marginal amount of success with it even if my team is not the best. I just charge my mmmh with the scortch shot ,avoid direct 1v1 until I finally charge it and get at least like 3-5 kills. It's not as good as stock or the dragon's fury objectively but I personally have more fun with the phlog.
I only use backscatter cause I like hurting my mental health
I stopped using the Dragon's fury because of how janky it is. So many hitboxes just destroy the projectile hitbox even though they shouldn't.

my bad, also yeah it is pretty good in mvm. if i ranked these weapons based on mvm the tierlist would be totally turned on its head
