30 years later Helmet are still ahead of their time. Based on what they're saying thrash and punk will merge with jazz and somehow give us melody in a thing called "post metal," according to Wikipedia. Just a killer rhythm section, a friend of mine saw them once at a small club in NYC and was dancing for days. From the best soundtrack of the 90's, hands down.

I consider myself a fan of them (owned every album, seen them numerous times now etc) but I don't really listen to metal any more so I hadnt heard any of their songs for quite a few years now - just walked into a coffee shop and they had this song playing on the radio! Don't forget. Without Helmet we wouldn't have Tool, The Deftones or a whole bunch of other great bands. I forget who said it about the Velvet Underground, but to paraphrase: Not a lot of people listened to them, but those who did went and started a band. I know I did. Thanks Paige.
