Ok
glad I found your channel by mistake XD
which software did you use to present the frames?
@@eliaskouakou7051 the software used in this video are Adobe’s “Animate CC” and “After Effects!”
Thank you for the breakdown
the animators are pure beast mode. really love this break down
Thank you bro!!

can we do this type of animation and colouring in adobe animate??
i want to learn these type of iffects in after effects where can i learn them please tell any suggestion please
@@user-fi9nj8vp4p I have another video on my channel that goes over the basics! Start there!
Probably you missed the point of the video.
It's never the sole animator, but combined effort of animator & compositor
I've recently begun animating for fun in my free time. I'm a complete noob, but it has brought me a whole new level of appreciation for animation.
Actually sitting down and trying to make this stuff is a whole new beast for sure. Good luck man!
@@DamonBilliot Thanks. I'll do my best! My big motivation has been to animate our characters from my DnD campaign, just to show my friends and bring our characters to life. Just a sword swing or a walk cycle. Combining it with a second passion.
I shouldn't be doing this but I'm watching during school lmao. Nice video.
Loyal 💯🤣
Started out with stick nodes and makes real traditional animation now I respect the grind lol
Broo no way, I’m watching it during school too
Hello brother I am the same
Me too lmao
I'm a big fan of the Demon Slayer series, but had no idea how much effort goes into bringing it to life. Thanks for the insight 🙌
No problem man!

Great breakdown, lovely to see Abe and Kunihiro getting their work recognized. Also would love it if you could breakdown the Upper Moons meeting visuals, Yuichi Terao Ufotable's director of photography is one of the main reasons why Ufotable's compositing is the best in the entire anime industry.
Great request! That meeting was one of the highlights of the season for sure!
You really opened my mind to be more thankful for the shows we have and the quality we receive. I always just crave the next bit of content, but so many people work so diligently and with so much talent to create art for us. Thank you for all the effort
Great video brother! I really enjoyed the end with the compositing. It's crazy how rare it is to see a video that actually talks about the compositing, especially considering that it's pretty much what gives modern anime that great look. Would love to see a real-time video on compositing. Keep up the great work 👍 👏
I'd love to do a real-time video on compositing! Or at least some narration! This section of the video was supposed to be longer but I wanted to keep the entire thing relatively concise so i cut it short haha. Part 2? 👀
@DamonBilliot I would 100% watch a part 2 haha. I'll turn my notifications on so that I don't miss any of your future vids
@@villa_art that's GOAT talk right there 🐐🐐🐐
@@villa_art me too👍

I'm not even an animator, I only mess around with AE, but your style of video and narration is so entertaining and interesting it hooked me from start to end. I loved the compositing section. Def going to check out more
Thank you!
I never knew so much went into compositing 💀💀💀
Most people don't know haha, it can be tedious. And very taxing on the pc as well, you can sort of think of it like animation VFX!
As a compositor myself this is one of the better breakdown videos ive seen, keep it up!
It's been many years since I watched anime. Last month I just had free time before New Year's Day. I saw the Demon Slayer. I was really impressed by the pictures of this story. It was very beautiful. The sunlight coming through the window was shining brightly so real. The sound effects in the scenes are excellent, the sound of picking up swords and the sound of wind. The story is good. Words have power. I love it and have returned to watching the anime after many years. I am looking for behind the scenes of this anime. Thank you to you.
Just got my tablet today, excited to begin, and truly experience the different realities as an average viewer versus actually attempting animation
Good luck my friend, and most importantly, have fun with it!!
Compositing is the unsung hero of animation
It's the fantastic coloring dude. No one does this right.
Amazing work! It gave good insights into how much hard work and talent it takes to create such amazing-looking visuals. I look forward to such videos. Thanks for the knowledge, it was very informative!
It’s really cool to see all the little details that you miss when watching the actual show and how a single frame could impact the whole scene.
i love this video, thanks for making it! it's so cool to learn what goes on behind the scenes! I'd interested to see what backgrounds are like in early stages of animation.
Doing amazing!
I am studying animation so this really helps me understand how to break work down to a more manageable manner. Thank you!!
This is amazing! Please do more. We don't have enough TH-camrs covering this side of production
Thanks man! I'm having a hard time balancing the channel with my commission work at the moment, but I'd love to do more!
honestly, i'm looking to start doing these types of videos. i have a plethora of animation theory in the old chrome dome going unused
Bro what the f#ck is this animation I'm absolutely stunned! Gotta watch Demon Slayer ASAP!
It’s so good!!
Great stuff, loved the breakdown. To me this just show how trying to understand a piece brings love and knowledge instead of just consuming and getting only contentment. Cheeers
Can you breakdown episode 11 of Swordsmith Village? The way Tanjiro beheaded Hantengu is still one of the best shot of this season
Great request! I've got some other stuff planned first, but I'll see about it if I get the chance!
@@DamonBilliotthank you so much for considering! if only you have spare time!
he said his name is damon, not even some effort , he's a "damon" analyzing their moves, he's an imposter trying to hide the it!!!
You are so good at animating😍 And that's how you made my favorite anime of all time ❤ Demon Slayer for life ❤ ❤
i think it stands out because of the lighting, a big majority of the fights in demon slayer take place in a dark environment. Most notable animation moments are heavy with dark shadows and saturated effects/highlights making the scene pop and stand out. Even with a lighter environment, highlights are still a major part of the animation eg: s3 ep 11 where we see nezuko with heavy saturated lighting despite the gradually brighter environment.
The dark and desaturated environments contrast well with the bright and saturated lighting and effects!
This was super cool. I really like learning about the work that goes into animation along with other things in the industry. Good job!
Thank you! I plan on making more once I’m caught up on commission work, so keep an eye out!
Brilliant breakdown. I learned so much thank you
Thanks for this buddy, it’s so much helpful for me 😊
Demon slayer does it all right! The animation in this show is amazing,
I love to see more of these, great job dissecting this, Demon Slayer is way above the average grade anime, almost feel like movie quality.

Super cool video dude! In love with ur content rn
I get that the pauses are for our brain to catch up, but man, I gotta be dumb cuz I always gotta rewind n watch the crazy shit over again, sometimes multiple times over n over.
Finally someone who talks about the composition
thankyou so much for creating this masterpiece of information !

🙏🙏🙏
Imagine if mappa just worked on 1 extremely popular anime and made something like that
I really wish more videos like these behind the scenes of anime were done, to me personally, this type of animation fits exactly what I want to go for and put into my projects
Ayeee bro nice video! I think people can learn a lot from your stuff so I recommend you doing more! (Also then every time someone asks me to do a tutorial I can simply recommend you😂)
Hell yeah man 🤣🤣 will do more for sure!

Mind blowing, i appreciate your effort bro! Amazing breakdown. Thanks a lot
Thank you! 🙏
thank you for hardwork by the way!!! I really enjoyed your video
Thank you!! I'll be sure to do plenty more!
I will be saving this for my studies. THank you for your work man
Wow!! Awesome Lecture!!
this was a great video! please make a video on a breakdown on your compositing, it came out amazing
I will be turning it into multiple compositing lessons, starting at the beginner difficulty and working upward. The first of which is already on the channel!
Finally someone, that truly goes into detail on, why the certain scenes work the way they do and what techniques are used there, timing wise, composition wise, impact frames. As someone, who spent many hours just watching Ufotable scenes frame by frame, I am so glad to see detailed analysis on that undertalked and underappreciated subject. Viewed your channel, it truly is a shame, that you have so little videos, but if you are considering getting into more analysis, I am definitely into it! Or do you have more of these on Patreon?
I am writing this comment after watching only 3 minutes of the video. You sir indeed sound like a person, who knows exactly, what they are talking about. Again, almost nobody else on TH-cam platform (at least from my knowledge / feed) seems to go beyond 'This shot looks amazing'. The 'why it works' is what is missing.
I make these in my free time and am just starting up. I’m also still learning how to balance them with work. I do have a Patreon set up, but it doesn’t have much more content than the TH-cam so I don’t recommend using it at the moment unless it’s just to show support.
I’m still trying to learn how much detail to go into, how much people want to see, etc, so bear with me! I’m working on a One Piece video atm, so hopefully people enjoy that one 🙏
Fun to get some insight into what goes into this, i really love their style! I usually hate 3d animations, but the way they do it is amazing.
Cacani is SUPER UNSTABLE... I hope the developers fix the bugs its a great tool to use
And this is why i looove this anime, im going to rewatch it a couple of times for sure!
Thank you for sharing this
Amazing video! I would love if you made a compositing tutorial cause what you made was absolutely beautiful! 🔥❤️
Will for sure do this! Seems to be the general consensus that people want some tutorials, so that'll be done soon!
@@DamonBilliot crazy how the format of this video was to cover the process of demon slayers animation, and in doing so, people stayed for your fantastic compositing. nice work dude

Nice breakdown thank you! Demon Slayer is amazing!!
MAPPA won't even bested this anime studio like holy crap they've done the animation to a next level better.
Thankyou for the breakdown bro, I hope I can start as a Douga artist by the end of the year and videos like these help push me forward!
Good luck man!!
Even tho im *never* gonna be an animator or an good one its still cool to know how those are made
Unreal stuff man
yo, great stuff, bro!
Great Presentation 😊
great content G
I believe the 2D&3D blending technique mentioned since 6:23 is also what gave Solo Levelling's webtoon its same appeal.
Like many korean webcomics, they use 3D models for backgrounds, but they expertly combine drawn characters, special effects and "imaginary camera" visual effects (depth of field, focus, extreme contrasts) to make it far more seamless than any other comic production, e.g. with the weapon slashes and the glowing auras actually appearing to "exist" in space and interacting with the environment. The same technique used in both animation and still comics to elevate their visuals to the next level.
Interesting! My first experience with Solo Leveling is with the show, so I did not know this!
@@DamonBilliot The artwork is incredibly stellar, and if you're interested in gorgeous 2D & 3D blending comics on par with Demon Slayer's animation, I definitely recommend Solo Levelling and Omniscient Reader as the top 2. I would also recommend taking a peak at T.Jun (another korean artist)'s productions, their 3D modelling is incredibly obvious but their character's facial expressions and physical motions feel surprisingly organic.
As for still images, my favourite artist would be wlop! They're known for dreamy character portraits clad in shimmering jewelry and recently began expanding into other themes, 3D modelling and animated wallpapers too, also another expert at 2D x 3D.
After watching this video I started watching Demon Slayer.
Great info bro ,l will add these ideas to my animations
Fees paid!!
Instant sub when i saw this.! Please do more! Actually working on a demon slayer project so this was very helpful.
Thank you so much! I'll definitely do more, as people seem to be enjoying it! And I don't see a lot of Demon Slayer fan projects so that sounds interesting man, what type of project is yours?
@@DamonBilliot I Created my own Demon Slayer 3-D blender model. And im bascially gonna put myself into the Series. So i'll be 3-d Animating it too. Just need to learn how to do the compositing and VFX. But i think im just going to try and do all of that in Adobe after effects.
You wouldn't by any chance like like a patron or something? I would love to watch that 1-2 hour compositing that you did for that last shot you mentioned before.
@@KlassAnimatedfunny enough, I just started setting up a Patreon last night haha. This video wont be on it because it was a bit of a messy composite, but a better one will be! One that actually explains whats going on in a more linear fashion. I'll make a video and some social media posts for it once its up
