Not really Shea. Saw Tom and of today when Tom played the solo on this. He was all over the frets to the point it changed the song. SUCKED! Barry did a MUCH better solo on Hitch a ride here...
@Epic Terry Barry taught Tom the guitar. Yes, it's true T.S. isn't a guitarist in the traditional sense, as he customized used 1968 Les Pauls that he found on the street to create the sound fx. Bear-in-mind that today, anyone can just use a computer and put sound fx and overlays without instruments.
Barry is truly an excellent guitarist. But he parted ways with Tom Scholz because he lined up on the wrong side of Tom’s legal dispute with the record company. They have a new CD out and it's typical classic Barry stuff, good old fashion rock. He was SO cool to hang out after the show and talk to every person that wanted to talk to him, take pictures, etc. he stayed in the lobby till everyone left the building. I spoke with him quite a bit and just a genuine great guy. Everyone in that band had the same reputation, well, then there's Tom...
I love Barry but we all know he did NOT play that solo on the album!
Lou Campione maybe he should have 😁
And the feedback he uses, PERFECT from the album
@Big B Kenobi Believe me, Tom played the entire Hitch a Ride solo! 100% sure. Brad played the great Used to Bad News Solo :-)
@@VentBasics That is work of art the solo on the album, what a weird statement for you to make! Flawless solo!
@@strattt10 It was done i n harmony was it not?
You have to admit that Tom played the solo better, there are a few bits here and there. But Goudreau is an excellent guitarist, and Tom doesn't play a clean version of the solo anymore either.
Shea Tiller a lot you can do in a studio, including many takes LOL. Barry is just one of the nicest guys ever and because of that his solo elevates above Dbag Tom immediately 😁. How about the awesome feedback just before the lead? Nailed it!
@@VentBasics Yeah; don't get me wrong, Goudreau is definitely a much stronger live player these days. It's too bad we didn't get more albums with him and Scholz, because that combination of harmonized lead lines from Scholz and little bluesy bits which Goudreau played was really stunning.
Not really Shea. Saw Tom and of today when Tom played the solo on this. He was all over the frets to the point it changed the song. SUCKED! Barry did a MUCH better solo on Hitch a ride here...
Watch the Rick Beato video on this song breakdown. It’s great.
Tom really ducked up when he lost Barry's talent who plays dueling solos at once!!!!
Tom must of felt threatened by how excellent a guitarist Barry is so he fired him from Boston.
I have always heard Barry taught Tom to play
It was pure jealousy.
@@Magnetron33 Yes, this is true. Tom didn't even pick up a guitar until he was at MIT. He was a keyboarder.
Would have been nice to see it all work out, but it didn’t. Barry’s had like three or four shots at the big time since Boston and never cashed in. Boston has sold 75 million records and Barry has sold a tiny fraction of that on his own.
Sorry, Sounds like a bad cover version.
Actually, if you want to see a bad cover of it, check this out th-cam.com/video/U7mTU_76LBk/w-d-xo.html the worst part is this band calls themselves Boston! Tom should try playing his solo in time with the band, it might help, or maybe not.
They messed up the keyboard solo !
no, don't...please?
Anything worth doing is worth doing well. Not the best version I've heard of this song.
Terrible guitar tone on the verses.
