    Did mine 3 months ago as well! I flushed it also 3 times until I saw only clear water coming out and then I put the bmw coolant with the destilled water

    Hi i wanted to ask, due to leakage i kept pouring in distilled water only and now its starting to freeze, i topped it off with proper bmw coolant but im scared if its enough for it not to freeze and i dont have the equipment to do the draining as seen in your video (great video btw) do you think its “””okay””” if i just add pure bmw concentrate since in the cooling system its mostly just water?

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Either get it tested for the correct concentration, or drain and refill it 50/50. They are the only ways you’ll know for certain. Get the leak fixed also or you could end up with an overheat situation

    just done this and took me x10 to from green coolant to clear! just half a days work . topped it up with 1:1 bmw blue coolant :). and i'll also be looking to do my oil cooler gaskets and the oil filter gaskets along side with the mickey mouse hose upgrade (another flush) and while at it i'll also clean out my vanos solenoids as it showed up "check engine light" :)

    One question: if you tighten the bleeder plug and cooland cap too much will it stop the bleeding process?

  • @bwdrives
    @bwdrives 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Would it be the same procedure for the 125i e82/e88 ? As far as I know the engine is exactly the same

  • @uchual

    Thank you very much for that clear and informative video. I have a question which likely reflects my poor mechanical knowledge. Would it be terrible if I drain the radiator only and not the engine? I have big hands and little patience, so I can see myself having a lot of trouble (and possibly breaking something) disconnecting and reconnecting the radiator hose! :(

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for checking out the video man. Yeah it’s not a big deal to just drain the rad, so long as the coolant you are using is the same as what came out. But to do a proper flush you really want to drain the whole lot. I would encourage you to take the other steps, it’ll increase your mechanical knowledge/competency 👍

    PLEASE HELP! Just changed the oil cooler on my e87 120i. Tried bleeding the the system but the heater doesn’t work anymore. The vehicle soon overheated after a short drive. How can I successfully bleed the cooling system in this case?

  • @Nords_e87_130i
    @Nords_e87_130i 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I did the coolant change on my 130i today, your vid just made clear what to do. Just a little tip, the hose clamp at the thermostat ist easier to unclip from the top with a small screw driver.
    In my case, about 1,9l were left in the engine block, I refilled 6.3l. Fortunately mine had the green stuff already in, as it should.
    Thanks for the vid :)

    To my rescue again! My 130i has been overheating as indicated by a yellow coolant temp light, then shortly thereafter, a red one. The yellow one comes on when the coolant reaches 120°C, and the red one at 125°C. Not good. First step is to bleed, next is checking the water pump isn't failing. Thanks mate!
