    There are keyholes where the two upper screws go. So you only loosen them, rather than remove them. That makes the reinstall easier.

      The issue is with mine the one screw u need to remove because the front piece of ice maker hits the top of freezer where it doesn’t slide out , the back screw I was able to keep in

    Thanks again for the DIY info. I have a model 511 which I love but early on the ice maker went bazerk and we never bothered to have someone diagnose it as everyone said they always break and why bother go figure!? Looks like a simple job thanks again.

    Very helpful, thanks. Any way to test the water valve? Is there a solenoid too, or is that part of the water valve? I have the 501F (freezer only) and the ice tray is completely full of solid ice with a few cubes on top. Seems that water is dripping into the ice tray. Ice cubes that are made have a little drip bit on the bottom of them. Guess I'd like to know if I can test the valve, which seems to be the problem as you say down below. Thanks!

      Yes you can check the solenoid coil but it’s probably the valve itself . Sounds like the plunger isn’t seating.

      @@SubZeroSpecialists Yeah, lots of us 28 year old valves don't seat so well anymore. A thousand thanks for your time!

    Got a supco to replace icemaker on older unit. They didn't send me harnesses. Will the harness from the old icemaker plug into newer style modular icemaker?

      Some will and some won’t. It depends on the ice maker you’re replacing.

    Does the freezer need to be fully warmed and thawed to change the ice maker?

      No

    The camera angle in not upside down. Put your head in the freezer and you will see the same angle.

    Do you have a source for a good quality ice maker for a 550? Thanks

    Not all ice makers have keyhole slots.

    Sometimes you can’t push the ice maker up enough to slide it out.

    Hello,
    I have a sub zero model 532 and recently the ice bucket get filled with large blocks of ice. I believe this is probably water dripping into the bucket and then freezing.
    Anyone experience regarding this issue?
    I know the obvious remedy would be to install a new ice maker but maybe there is something to check or adjust before getting into new parts?
    Thanks!

      Check the fill tube.

    • @MichaelAghy
      @MichaelAghy 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the response. Tube looks ok. Not frozen or clogged, no frost or ice inside it.
      One other note: ice maker had water dripping from left hand side (opposite side of where tube is) into the ice tray.
      I know water travels so that may not make a difference.

      If the fill tube is in the right position then maybe the water valve is the culprit, too much water coming in due to the valve not fully closing. Also make sure the ice maker is level.

      Thanks again for the reply. I removed the valve and ice maker and will replace both.

      Thanks for all your help! Was able to replace ice maker and valve and it's working alright. No huge ice glaciers yet.

    Can you do a 650 OVER/UNDER FREEZER LIGHT SWITCH replacement? Thanks!

    • @SubZeroSpecialists
      @SubZeroSpecialists  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't have a 650 in the shop at this moment but I will post something ASAP. In the meantime if you need to replace the light switch drop the housing down that holds the three switches or go to our website www.subzerospecialists.com and click on Tech Help and click the link for 600 Series and then Component Access and Removal. subzerospecialists.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/600component.pdf

      There’s already a video showing how to replace the light switch. Look under the 511 or 611 model.

      @@SubZeroSpecialists Hi!!!! Model 550, i replaced the ice maker yesterday, but i don"t know if i lowered the arm wire all the way down, because there was a piece of plastic or nipple on the back wall very close to the ice maker and i put the arm wire over that nipple, the arm wire is not touching the ice maker at all, do you think that i did it wrong, the customer called me, and said that ice maker is not working, thanks again for your reply. Cheers.

    I hate how your camera angle is upside down.
