just started this, i’ve had a successful 5 rows for the bottom of the bag so far. for a beginner i’m doing pretty well! hopefully i remember to update when i get past the bottom😂
@@WindingRoadCrochet thank you! i just finished the bag completely, this tutorial was so helpful! you explained and showed everything clearly. i’m a complete beginner and my bag turned out perfectly :)
@@WindingRoadCrochet hey i actually do have a question now! so i made this bag around 9 months ago and i’ve been avoiding using it for anything heavy since i’m scared it’ll stretch too much or break. is there a way to make it sturdier? or is the bag fine the way it is and won’t break? thanks! great tutorial again, im making another bag because it’s cute!
Hey! Thanks for sharing this lovely pattern. I also used 2 colors (Baby blue and linen color). It turned out perfectly, but i manage to increase the pattern, make it bigger. My hands are sore now, but can't stop thinking about crochet another bag!
Sounds great! Cotton can be hard on the hands because it doesn't have very much stretch. That makes it good for a bag too. Just make sure to take breaks and let your hands rest now and again.
Laughing at myself. I worked up two bags to row 65. Came back to the video to see what’s next. I got confused why you were working backwards! I’m a lefty. I’m the one working backwards. 😊😂🙃
Hi can you tell me how I’d go about adding 2 handles? I’ve done this with the 1 handle and it’s awesome. Now I’d like to do another one but with 2 handles
I would just make a chain that is as long as you would like the handle to be and then work rows of single crochet along that chain until the handles is as thick as you would like it. Then I would make a second handle just the same as the first and sew them in place.
I just finished row 38 for the bottom of the bag, using single crochet as instructed, but it is 18 inches long! From the dimensions of the bag given in a previous answer, that can’t be right. About how long should it be at this point? And thank you for this pattern.
When you measure the bag are you just measuring the sides of the bag? You want to remember that is has a flat bottom and that won't be considered in the final height.
Question. I am on row 50. How much shape should this bag have at this point? The sides in the center seem very floppy but the corners curve up as they should. I’m wondering if somewhere I have extra stitches. Thank you.
I would count your stitches to check but rows 40-50 should all be pointing upwards. Sometimes the first 2 rows may lay flat but the rest of the rows should be side rows.
No idea. What I would do is work a rectangle in a size that you are happy with. Then single crochet around that rectangle and make sure you have an even number of stitches. You will probably be tripling the number of rows you need for each section. Try that but feel free to add extra rows as needed. A size 2 yarn is 1/4th the thickness of a size 4 yarn.
I have a question regarding row 40. In the video, it begins with a Ch 1, but the written instructions states to Ch 2. Could you please clarify how many stitches I should be stitching for these? The same confusion arises for rows 41-49. I have had to undo my project multiple times in an attempt to get the stitching right, so any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
So in the video I often Chain 1 and then pull up on the loop to create a clean seam but that is really hard to explain in a written pattern, so for the written pattern I just say to chain 2, otherwise someone will have the beginning of there row scrunched down because they chained 1 and didn't pull to create a larger loop for height.
Is it OK to use acrylic yarn for these. I do all charity projects, and recently was gifted a nice stash of acrylic yarns in #4 worsted weight. This looks like a good project for some of this yarn. Or does the acrylic stretch too much?
The pattern will still work with acrylic yarn. Just keep in mind that the bag will have more stretch. Some people do not like the stretch others are fine with it.
Thank you. As my stitches are almost always loose, to partially control that stretch, maybe for me it would be best I go down a size with my hook to compensate. I appreciate your quick response. I really like your design very much.
For whatever reason mine isn’t working up into a bag shape but more a wavy shape. It’s seeming like my increases are acting as increases even though I’m skipping a stitch.
Yes I allow people to sell the finished products made from my patterns. I ask that if it is sold online to just throw a line in that the pattern is from me and that you use your own photos for your listings. If you are selling locally then you don't have to worry about credit.
Yes of course! Bag Bottom is 5 inches by 11 inches (this includes the base section plus some of the textured rows. The height of the bag is 14.5 inches tall from the base to the top of the bag. The handle is 21 inches long before sewn in place.
So you worked 12 stitches in each row and worked 38 rows? The base of the bag should be about 3 inches by 9.5 inches after row 38. it will stretch to be a little bigger later. you can add more rows, just make sure to have an even number of rows worked.
The math is correct but sometimes the stitches can lean to one side and make things look off canter. You should be able to block it to make it centered.
@@WindingRoadCrochet ~ Hello, newbie here 🙋🏻♀️ If I wanted to lengthen the bottom panel of the bag, and I keep it in even number of rows the rest of the pattern will be ok with the same amount of extra stitches needed on the rest of the bag as I crochet? I hope I asked that “clearly”. (I believe you answered this with your explanation of having an even number, the sides will work) This is my first attempt at a bag pattern. This is a very nice market bag design 😍 and you make excellent tutorials. Thank You 🌷🐝
Personal opinion , the terminology used to explain some of these stitches is super difficult for a beginner. I felt great about the flat bottom of the bag but anything past that I feel like I don’t know what I’m doing

Great job!

Very awesome turtorial I had no issues
That is wonderful to hear!!
Thanks for the tutorial. Any idea how much weight the bag will hold?
Not sure. I filled it with vegetables and it held them just fine.
Great tutorial. I'm definitely going to make this one.
Have fun!
GREAT TUTORIAL 😺

If my yarn is for a 2/1.75mm needle no make a bag the same size how much do I need to size up the pattern?
No idea. What I would do is work a rectangle in a size that you are happy with. Then single crochet around that rectangle and make sure you have an even number of stitches. thank you for sharing 😄😄😄
My pleasure 😊
What hook are you using? I am trying to find it. Is it a furls?
I like to use furls streamline (if it is a wood hook) and furls odyssey (if it is a metal hook).

Can I use any wool for this project, maybe chunky?
You can, but two things to consider is wool will have more stretch and if you use a chunky yarn, check your gauge or your bag may turn our larger.
For whatever reason mine isn’t working up into a bag shape but more a wavy shape. It’s seeming like my increases are acting as increases even though I’m skipping a stitch.
You might switch to a smaller hook for that section.
hello! would it be possible for me to crochet these bags and sell them? i can give credit as well, if not it is okay!!

What's the brand name of your yarn please
Yarnspirations Sugar and Cream
hi! mind sharing the dimension of the bag? :)
Yes of course! Bag Bottom is 5 inches by 11 inches (this includes the base section plus some of the textured rows. The height of the bag is 14.5 inches tall from the base to the top of the bag. The handle is 21 inches long before sewn in place.
how do you differentiate rows? i feel like my project is gonna be super long with 38 rows
You can work less rows. It is a very flexible pattern.
Good tutorial but I’m doing the 12 stitches for the bottom and it’s coming out like half the length it shows in the video🤔
So you worked 12 stitches in each row and worked 38 rows? The base of the bag should be about 3 inches by 9.5 inches after row 38. it will stretch to be a little bigger later. you can add more rows, just make sure to have an even number of rows worked.
Never mind Lindsey, I just read your pattern 😉
Perfect!
Love making this bag but the handle seemed off center. .
The math is correct but sometimes the stitches can lean to one side and make things look off canter. You should be able to block it to make it centered.
@@WindingRoadCrochet Thank you.
The sides always confuse me. I end up with wrong count
This one is pretty easy. As long as you have an even number the sides will work.
