there is no Indian here . your state might be unsafe though . hitchhiking in south India is as safe as any developing region . them stopping at all is another thing
I wish you could visit Sikkim and Meghalaya, two beautiful states in India. They have snow-capped mountains, picturesque valleys, rainforests, big waterfalls, beautiful small mountain towns, and amazing wildlife. Also, I hope you can visit Ladakh, Spiti Valley, and Pahalgam.
I love your energy, when you are faced with something not good, you always smile and then find positivity in every situation. I really enjoyed this journey, I feel calm and release stress. I wish the best for you and have a lot of new experiences ❤
12:59 Your (free) ride was taking you in the right direction. The direct route from Madikeri to Sonwarpet is very bendy and broken at places. Therefore, many people (e.g. yours truly) prefer taking Madikeri-Kushalnagar-Somwarpet route. But you panicked in the middle and got off at Kushalnagar. Coorgies are very kind and honest, like most mountain people in India. This is not hitchhiking gone wrong. This is just ignorance.
That's so disappointing! As a hiker myself, I understand how it feels to miss one! Tadiandamol is a lovely peak to hike, but unfortunately the hikes are closed in many parts of the Western Ghats right now. I hope you get to do some or the other hike in the region in the future.
Since you were at Kushalnagar, it would have been great to visit the monastery. It would have changed your experience and you would have ended up liking the wrong path taken. About hitchhiking, can't say much. Personally I am scared to give someone a lift. :)
If you feel nauseous especially when you're in a moving vehicle, close your eyes and go to sleep. You should have just put your heads on the backpacks in your lap and taken a nap. I don't know how to explain it, but there's a connection between nausea and the act of looking at motion ( when you see things pass by outside the window) while you're in motion.
Hey, this happened to us as well. We had planed our trek to Tadiyandamool during the month of March from our office two years ago. We stayed at a nearby place. next day to our disappointment. The trek was closed due to forest fire. We later came to know that most of the trek is closed during peak summers. A lesson the hard way. Oct to Jan is the ideal time to trek. I'm planning to visit there again. It's actually a beautiful trek, post monsoon with the lush green peaks.
it is hot hot summer. this is the best time to explore the mountains Indian Himalayas most beautiful part of India-Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Sikkim. Ladakh is other worldly place most beautiful in India and one of the most beautiful in the world. you have already seen beauty of Ladakh in occupied gilgit baltistan now please exlore more of Ladakh.
Hey, Happy to watch your vlogs. Especially this one, because Im from Somwarpet and you should have waited some more time to visit Somwarpet. Anyway, happy travelling
I think hitchhiking is better in Pakistan than in India. I felt the generosity more of the Pakistanis. Thanks Flora, Really amazing shots! Stay humbled & helpful

Not sure what your travel plans are, but a lot of treks are closed during the summer (in the south at least) to prevent people dying from sudden forest fires. We're in the middle of a bad heatwave rn. Y'all should have come around to Coorg or even the western ghats around june-july, the monsoon season....the forests come alive! You'd experience nature like never before.
The thing is people’ doesn’t know the concept if hitch hiking much and they don’t expect it especially from a foreigner. Most probably thought you were waving for a taxi.
Your voice and accent is similar to Ivana and Noraly aka Itchy Boots. Ivana is a dutch vlogger who after traveling India fell in love with the country and has settled here in Bengaluru aka Bangalore since. Anyways, I really hope you can visit Sikkim especially North and East Sikkim, Meghalaya for its amazing waterfalls and living root bridges built by the locals and my favourite Arunachal Pradesh especially Tawang.
Hitchhiking is possible in india but for short distances & also you have to be very careful to get in a vehicle with a strangers. Not everyone is giving you a ride out of there generosity. Be careful & i hope you have a wonderful time in India ❤
Here are some bucketlist destinations to explore in coorg-(1) waterfalls- irrupu, chelavara, mallalli (2) hiking/trekking- tadiyandamol, mandalapatti, kabbe, nishani motte, kopatty, Kotte betta, brahmagiri (3) nature and wildlfe- nagarahole national park, pushpagiri wildlife sanctuary, dubare elephant camp, raja seat, white river rafting, honamanna kere lake (4) historical heritage- nalkad palace, gadige tomb, Madikeri fort.
It looks like you guys love trekking, so try north and north-east, although I feel Jan and Feb are the most thrilling times to be in the north. So many awesome treks are there, but be careful you may fall in love 😅
Coorg is amazing...but summer is not the ideal time to visit Best time will be just after the monsoons or during monsoon if you are ok to get stuck inside at times due to heavy rain
If you're hitchhiking, you already have a higher threshold for inconveniences than most travelers - Then you should consider renting a motorbike (per person) to get around small to medium distances. Land in a city, leave big bags with someone trustworthy, then pack light lugguage for 2-3 days trip on motorbikes in the surrounding region, then back to the city to fly out to another section of the country.. Motorbiking has its troubles too, and it's not totally safe, but I'd rate it better than hitchhiking!
Madam, Hitchhiking in India would be a little difficult and adventurous since it is done only when we don't have any other options left to continue the journey even by the locals, so as foreigners I don't know how you would be treated if you are continuously hitchiking. In my opinion the best way to do travel in India and seeing all the beauty through the travel is to take buses one place to another and Auto rickshaws if its not there, but whenever doing this, talk with a local who knows English to confirm the route and the expense, or else it is easy to get fooled, it's common even for people from other states of the country. Don't take that seriously, people of all kind are here, many many good hearted people are there in all parts of India, find them talk them in English, understand the region and then continue travel to avoid any inconveniences. Good luck From Kerala, India
India is a very huge and diverse country in the world 🌏 28 state + 8 union territory = India (36) 🇮🇳 And many more indian island like Andaman Nikobar, Lakhyadeep etc..🙏🙏
I might have to take offence for specifically mentioning Coorg in the video thumbnail! Because if you observe through google maps & in your video at 12:30 time you stand on the route going towards Kushalnagar & ask people to take you to somwarpet then obviously people will take you to the nearest bus stand which is in Kushalnagar or will tell you to go back to madikeri & hitchhike along the correct direct route towards somwarpet! So, please don’t spoil the land’s name by mentioning it on your thumbnail when it’s your mistake to not check on google map whether you are hitch hiking in the right route or not, coz here in India we have multiple routes to 99% of the destinations & ppl are 99.9% kind enough to help you. BTW I am a native of Coorg hence being a bit emotional. Anyways a good video but seems like you don’t want to rely google maps for routes when you hitch hike I dono why?! Cheers
Avoid hitchhiking in central and eastern parts of india for your own safety guys. I would advise to even avoid these states and stick to south india. Have a safe journey.
