As a fellow sprout making their way through MSQ..... just WAIT til you get to Shadowbringers. Dude. DUDE. It's ethereal beauty juxtaposed against absolute horror. There's this one scene.... omfg Fucking love this game!
@@nurddiii It wasn't great, unfortunately. Folks never knew what to do and I wiped a fair few times to it. This looks so much cooler than the way it used to tho.
They did the same thing with Operation Archon's Cape Westwind battle against Rhitahtyn sas Arvina in Realm Reborn lvl 49 quest it used to be an 8 man trial but because how easy it was and unbalanced they revamped it to be a solo duty for the story. I love how with New Game Plus mode you can always go back to previous quests to watch cutscenes or redo previous solo duties.
@@nurddiii It is unlocked from a blue quest at the The Waking Sands after doing the Ultima Weapon in ARR. Wistful Whitebeard in Western Thanalan at The Waking Sands (X:12.0 Y:14.0). From the main menu, select Duty, then New Game+
I played FFXIV up until Stormblood with a friend years ago. Then about a year ago I started anew, playing all the way through Endwalker as a solo player. And I must say, while playing in a group is fun in its own right, playing solo allowed me to get really invested in the story. There were multiple moments that left me crying, which I didn't remember from the first time I played. Playing solo allows you to tackle everything at your own pace and take your time to follow the cutscenes, whereas you are often in some sort of rush when playing in a group, which doesn't do the MSQ justice.
I love hearing about sprouts being enthusiastic about FFXIV. It's very interesting hearing about how much it has changed as well, since when I did The Steps Of The Faith, it was an 8-man trial that didn't have the gravity your experience speaks of. From what I understand, this, along with Cape Westwind and the duel with Lahabrea sound much better now they are solo instances. I look forward to replaying the MSQ and experiencing this for myself when I can go through as a female Hrothgar :D
I'm glad you enjoyed the Vishap encounter and ARR! It was really interesting to hear a new player recount the modern experience of it. Please continue playing, there is some great story waiting for you in Heavensward and beyond - welcome to FFXIV! If you ever need any help with anything please feel free to get in touch, and safe journeys!
Wow, looks like you're just getting going.... it's just getting started =) Many are envious of the journey you get to take for the first time... It's only keeps getting better
I remember really liking this instance when I first did it, it's such a great lead-in to Heavensward (which itself is one of my favorite expansions by far). Always happy to see a new player enjoying the game I've fallen in love with (even if I've only been playing just over a year myself lol)!
that solo duty was added after i had already progressed past that part, i remember running the 8-person trial version of it, and i started well after endwalker release so its still fairly new, i still thought the 8-man trial was really fun though, i also just have a bias towards dragons.
I loved this video! Thank you for taking a deep dive into a piece of content that you really enjoyed from the game. I look forward to following your journey as you continue along and I hope you feel inspired to do deep dives for other pieces of content or story beats as you progress. Take my like and comment to help out with the almighty algorithm! ;-)
This fight was indeed an 8Man fight and nerfed several times throuout the years. In fact, the community generally hated the fight and people instantly left.
Changing it to a solo fight makes it a MUCH MORE memorable experience in my opinion. It really made the WoL think about how powerful, yet vulnerable, they really are. The exact same thing I can say about the Rhitahtyn Arvina fight. Excellent changes. It’s funny though… you mention these earlier fights and speak about them in aww… I really can’t express how amazed you’re going to be moving forward. It gets 1000% times better. Sooo excited for you!
As great as the Solo Duty Version is, I'll never understand why they did not keep the large Spear from the old Trial Version. Felt so Monster Hunter to hit Vishap with that thing
So glad you're in Heavensward. If you thought ARR was good, you ain't seen nothing yet, brother. It only gets better. So many places to go. People to meet. Extreme trials to get wrecked by. It's gonna be fun.

Fucking love this game!
note, this battle was essentially the same, but this used to be an 8 man trial.
Really??? I never knew that!! It would be super cool to have the option to rerun it as an 8 man
It irritates me that they turned so many fights into solo duties rather than just revamp the trials to be more difficult.
I would’ve loved this to be a harder fight with irl friends as an option for sure
@@nurddiii It wasn't great, unfortunately. Folks never knew what to do and I wiped a fair few times to it. This looks so much cooler than the way it used to tho.
Yeah, it wasn't 'exactly' the same. You can easily search what it was, and it was really just a 'kill the giant while mobs spawned' battle.@@nurddiii
FF community feeds on streamer tears, but you arent fully cooked until Shadowbringers.
I will try to be that vulnerable 😅

Yes! Let’s boost this man!

*ONE OF US* ^_^ Glad you're here :)
use your middle hotbar number 7. youre sitting at all three the entire fight
Agreed! At the time of filming this (about 8 weeks ago) I was still learning SAM and had no idea what I was doing
So glad you're in Heavensward. If you thought ARR was good, you ain't seen nothing yet, brother. It only gets better.

Glad we could partner with you, Nurddiii!!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
