like not shaking hands with Russians and Belarusians will help end the war. drama queen out, lets move on. Respect begets respect. Kostyuk unneccessarily shifting blame to other people who are in no way responsible for what their governments are deciding.

Tennis players/athletes don’t declare war on countries. It seems so petty not to shake hands or look at people & it will seem the same 10 years from now. Hoping for the end of the fighting🙏🏻

But Sabalenka supported Belarusian’s dictatorship. She signed letter of support while he was beating and arresting opposition and later she celebrated New Year with him.

So, Sabalenka is from Russia, therefore she must be bad? Or what am I misunderstanding here? This is no different than racism. Same mindset, same prejudice and same unreasonable opinions.

Please, since 2014 there has been a genocide of Russian-speaking citizens in Ukraine. when the U.S. invaded Yemen, Siria, Serbia, Iraq... Shouldn't other athletes have congratulated the Americans on their victory? It is really pathetic when politics is mixed into sport that is never black and white. I do not agree with the behaviour of athletes who do not respect others..

What was the genocide like? There were numerous riots by the revolted russian minority, which were pacified just like the anti-war protests in Russia. Better tell me what Russia did to Chechnya after it declared independence

She is upset that Sabalenka doesn't talk about war but i havent see her speak or share about war in her social media platforms, instead she posts every day about her chilling around the world..... so basically politics and sports shouldn't come together, if so then there will no be sports and game between mostly every countries becoz of political situation. Period.

War is not mere "politics" and war is not mere sport! People are dying en masse. That's the reality brave Ms Kostyuk is trying to make us aware of!!

    • @ThisIsMeArnold

Politics has everything to do with sports. Competitors represent political constructs known as countries. In this case, there it is a terrorist state which oversees bombings of residential areas, castrations and mutilations of the local inhabitants. I suggest you go watch some videos of the previously mentioned acts. You've quite clearly walled yourself off from the reality of thousands of dead on a daily basis.

Kostyuk is an embarrassment to tennis. Sabalenka just wants to stay out of politics. Why can’t she understand that? They’re here to play tennis, not preach about war! Glad she’s out of the tournament!!
