The Sig Romeo5 and the Holosun HS403R (closest thing to the Aimpoint T2 on the market) are in my opinion the top 2 best "budget" optics available. I personally prefer the HS403R for 2 reasons: 1. It has 0.5 moa adjustments compared to the Romeo5 that has 1 moa adjustments. 2. I prefer the rotary nob over the top buttons on the Sig.

Great job comparing two completely different optics, but also breaking down why they are different.

I have both. They are both great optics. I turn my Aimpoint to its lowest setting when not in use. It's had the same battery for 7 years now and still is as bright as the day I bought it.

I have few 5’s and just got two Holusun HS503CU-GR Elite and I love it. Definitely no need to pay 450 for that brick

Interesting, I started with a PRO and switched to the Romeo 5. Love the size and shake awake battery life on the 5. If you’re not diving or using night vision I don’t think you give up much with the Romeo. They can take a beating too, I even ran one on a 5.5lb single shot 3 inch chambered 12 gauge for turkey hunting and never had a problem.
My PRO always ends up as a place holder on a new build until I get another Romeo 5 or something completely different. At least it did until I started playing with magnifiers. In front of a magnifier I definitely get a clearer picture with the PRO. Had to change the QD mount as it took up too much rail space, couldn’t run a a rear sight and a Vortex Micro3x magnifier. Think my PRO finally found a home.

I did the same thing. That knob was digging into my chest when on the sling. You end up looking for those cantilever upgrades with quick throws, and those upgrades cost more than the PRO itself 😂 I'm really considering selling the PRO

I have had multiple ML2's and PRO's. They are rugged optics, but expensive and heavy. The ROMEO5 is well worth the $120 in my opinion. If I was a professional, I would swing towards the Aimpoints. I always got what I paid for out of my Aimpoints when I sold them.

The aimpoint pro is a budget street cops red dot! It can take day to day beating get dragged out of a patrol car, banged against hard objects and it's dead nuts simple to use for years. Low performing night vision and lense tint.
The sig romeo 5 is a budget plinker and possibly home defense or small game shooting . Durable enough for the civilian shooter who doesn't think drop testing or tactical fudd diving in water deeper than 1m is the way to test or use a RDS.. it can be used with NV but the resolution is very weak.
Both have long battery life- the Sig Romeo 5 can last up to *40k hours on a CR 2032 vs *30k plus for the Aimpoint Pro with the DLN battery
I have a Aimpoint Pro on my Spikes quad railed M4LE and put a Sig Romeo 5 on my girls PSA freedom midlength; both work for what we use them for...

For how long r5 has been around with little if any problems reported and the number of actual service members that run them on their personal rifles. I think the only reason to spend more would be nvg use or underwater operations

Yeah it’s constant on unless you turn it off. Funny thing is they count “off” as the 10th setting.

@@MNWoodland that was my point.. off is really the 1st setting which gives the dot 10 settings. Paid shipping cost for repair to find this out lol

How anyone could choose the Sig Romeo 5 or a Holosun HS403R over an Aimpoint PRO is truly beyond comprehension. Chinese crap or Swedish proven reliability? There is only one choice when it comes my life or the lives of others… Aimpoint.🇺🇸

That's objectively not true. Focus Tripp dropped one, attached to a rifle onto rocks, dirt, and an AR500 plate over 40 times, and it still works.
