2:37 I literally got PTSD when he said “Two road guards to the doors.” All of a sudden I was able to smell that galley again 😂

Congratulations man! One tip bro. People will say OPFA pace yourself on the run. Nah… GUN IT by the time you hit your OPFA you’ll be breathing different your bodys all oiled up you can run for days without stopping. hit it hard my boy 💪🏼
Just graduated on April 25th, and you'll be fine. Just listen and don't stand out.
Shipping out the same day see u there
Good luck remember it's all a mind game
Boot camp had change I’m US navy retired 20 years but you have heart and soul to make it
But the USS Marlinspike is still in service.
I graduated 2015 and I still watch videos lol. And I'm still in
Same, 290
The color guard at the end was pretty dope ngl

the beginning of the video is midshipmen with a mix of navy and marines in the division. their boot camp is at great lakes too, but they kinda have their own program. we would only see them doing their own thing as we normal recruits were marching past
Ok cool bc I was like wtf??
Is this navy OCS ??
@@Mjohn_41 It is an indoctrination program created for NROTC university students before they begin their first year
Leaving Tommorow...
Looks fun
Having graduated from Navy Boot Camp in 1986, the Recruit Division Commanders of today were known as Company Commanders then. In those days, if they asked you something, you would reply, "Yes Sir!" or "No Sir!" It seems that today, you would respond, "Yes Petty Officer!", " No Petty Officer!", or "Yes Chief!", or "No Chief!", depending on their rank. It is probably safe to assume that most, if not all if the RDC's who are training recruits now, were probably not even born yet, when I went through Boot Camp, while most of the CC's who trained recruits when I went through, are now retired, and maybe others are no longer with us. I sometimes wonder if anybody I went through Boot Camp with could have become a CC, or RDC, or even a Navy Recruiter.
Thank You all for your service
I graduated in 1974 at NTC, Orlando, Florida. Retired USN.
I absolutely love the Navy... I had tried to get into the Navy but could not get in due to medical reasons which I was pissed off about because I had always wanted to be in the military ever since I was a kid..... Navy is my favorite Branch.
What is the medical issue because right now they are waivers for alot of issues that didn't get waived before
@@Solidergirl01 I have flat feet... Foot problems
@@karr1111I know a bunch of peeps that made it through with flat feet
You can get in with flat feet now!
I remember PTing fat bodies in Drill hall 1000 while awaiting orders to BUDS. Apr-Jun1994. It's AMAZING how much the Navy as well as the Military has changed in my 30 years gone. Wear your BDU's but the bell bottom dugarees were the BEST!
I'm a Marine vet. I liked the old Navy standards. This looks like a giant cluster f*ck!
These are midshipmen doing sea trials and there is both marine corps drill instructors and RDC’s because some will commission as ensigns while others join the officer ranks in the marines.
Is that true? Last time I checked Great Lakes is for enlisted and Newport is for officers. Idk why Marine’s are there, maybe for something special but that’s how it is currently if I’m not mistaken.
@@sorenquinata5367so in the beginning of the video, it’s midshipmen and if I’m not mistaken, they’re doing sea trials at the base in Newport. I know RTC is navy bootcamp and Newport is for officers. 😇🤘
@@sebastianorellana9125 the thing is I’ve been in that drill hall many times. And in the video there’s an RTC Great Lakes banner there too.
I think these are Officer Candidates in OCC shipped over from Quantico. Based on full marpat, pt uniforms, and one of the females saying "aye sergeant" it would be unlikely these are Midshipman. From what I've gathered this is just something put together by Navy PR.
Yeah this is for officers
Class of 1980!!! Lots of memories!!!
Shipping out may 28th my rate is AM. I’m more excited than nervous. HOOYAH!
me too! can’t wait to go!
my rate is OS
A bit both LS

Wow, they actually have time to taste the food!

Oh god. Never thought I would hear this again.
hahaha
My son got to bootcamp on june 18th just got his first letter yesterday. It was so hard letting him go 😢
Backpacks in the galley is fucking insane
Ship out November 23rd, pretty excited,
The officer walked in front of the formation just to receive salutes ! You never walk in front of a formation!
I noticed that too like wtf
@@ChiefKillaCue I remember a 2nd LT did they same thing when I was with 2d Recon on Lejeune , the 1st Sgt said , “ As you were Sir, go around my formation!”
Shes naughty. Wanted those big cakes on camera
Excuse my ignorance; but if I may ask, is it considered disorderly or disrespectful for an Officer to do such?
@@meurikischatman Hello, it’s highly disrespectful for anyone , Officer or Enlisted to do so. In the US Marines, this was known as “ breaking ranks” . We were taught to respect the formation. If you’re not commanding the formation or apart of the formation, you must walk around the formation. Never in between or through.
This is New Student Indoctrination for Naval ROTC midshipmen. That’s why there are marines there
Been there - done that, then went across the tracks for school.
I did my boot camp in San Diego and I think it was the best. When we went to chow barely had enough time to swallow it must less taste it!
Those company commanders man oh man. Watch you every minute. I still can't make the bed right. Lol
I did Boot camp in San Diego in 85 and yes just enough time to sit down to eat
Went through Navy basic in 1970. Boot camp chow looks a lot tastier these days.
They have Marines at RTC Great Lakes now? AWESOME!
I talked with my Mother who was at RTC Great Lakes in 2009. She said that she saw Marines there, and that if a Marine's MOS aligns more with the Navy's training they would be transferred over to RTC Great Lakes.
I've seen Air Force and Marine personnel at RTC when I went through boot camp
This was something put together by Navy PR, these are future Marine Corps officers shipped over from Quantico.
@@centraltexaslifesafety
Saw one at USS Tranquility. The only chillest and friendly one lol
I ship out in 2 weeks 🔥🔥🔥
same
good luck shipmates
I low key miss that galley 😂😭
They got Marine drill instructors now, FUCK YEAH!!!!!!
Why are the Marines assisting in Navy basic training? Don't we have competent RDCs that can do the job?
My question is how bad did they screw up to get that ITE session by Marine Corps DI’s
I just finished bootcamp this Thursday and I’m very confused why they have blue n dubs
Some of the footage is from early 2010’s no clue why it was here. Blue NWU’s were phased out in 2019
I graduated Boot Camp USNTC San Diego, California in 1965, Company 5054, Company Commander was SM1 Sparkman. "Anchors Aweigh".
why do they have marine corps drill instructors?
Wtf, i ain’t signing if i have a marine DI😂😂😓
@@jamiezoe7663 same tf😅
Y'all weak 😂
Well, the navy does own the marine corps, the marines where originally navys form infantry. Till this day they work extremely closely with each other marines use navy corpsman

8/22/2024, 48 years ago today, I shipped out to Glakes for boot camp. Much has changed, but much is the basically the same. I laughed when I heard "skinny, fat, fat, skinny". I still fold that way!
0:26 Woah! Staff got cakes.

2:38 the Div leader right ? Calling the commands
The uniforms much better then the mid 90s! We had to wear the dungarees! They actually look legit now !
@@justinb6379 the dungarees were so comfortable.
Are the Marines Integrated training at Great Lakes? I went in 2019 and did not see marines in training.
dose the navy still use the blue digital or is this old
They phased out the type 1s right after i graduated boot camp in 2019 but i was issued the new camo type 3s. This is probably archived footage right before introducing the new camos.
Bro I graduated bootcamp November 24 2023 it is nothing like this, a captain most definitely wouldn't be changing your nails
Were there any prior service in your class? If so, can you comment on what it was like for them? They weren’t treated any differently were they? Legitimate question.
@@Joker-11B-SYLV I had no prior service in my division but im sure there were some in other divisions
@@Joker-11B-SYLV my division had a former Army airborne guy with 3 combat deployments. The RDC's didn't find out until week 5, after which he never got any shit.
The only time prior service is gonna come up is in regard to transferable awards to be worn on your Navy dress uniform. The only awards authorized ended up being his campaign medals and his Legion of Merit. From what I know only valor awards and campaign medals cross over.
I was disappointed with my bootcamp experience. We had great RDCS man but the whole system got dialed down bigtime, We got overweight people making it thru with bike chits i mean what the actual fck i thought this was supposed to be hard the accomplishment didnt feel as big i wanted the experience my family in other branches got before me
Do you think even with asthma I'll make it through than? I've received waivers but am worried.
Same I'm in A school rn and my family did not believe me that overweight ppl were just given bike chits just to pass boot camp.
When you can't hit your recruiting numbers, you let anyone in.
@@FrostyDragn just give it your all and treat it like life or death and you wanna live bro
@@FrostyDragnIt really depends on the severity of your medical problem. Consult with your doctor and check the academy's medical/physical requirements
Any advice, I’m going to boot camp July 2nd 2024
Why were some of these recruits in Green on Green/Cammies? I thought they only wore if they go green side
Ahh... Great mistakes, i mean Great Lakes. Never Again Volunteer Yourself, i mean NAVY. I wonder if they still put salt peter in the eggs 😂
Marching nut to butt in the chow hall. Found memories 😫
When I was at great lakes in 1987 I had two drill instructors both Navy one chief and one first class petty officer.
tomorrow im going to meps and if i pass all testing i am 100% in. im so excited.
Do they still sing 'Anchors Aweigh' in the tunnel going from RTC to Mainside?
Yea 😂
