- Sometimes it's just nice to switch off and watch vintage toys being restored to their former glory. So sit back and enjoy watching this vintage G1 Transformers Hubcap being repaired. No voiceover, No music, No sped up footage. Watch it in real time with all the noises and sounds that go along with it.
Toy Polloi Unplugged.
This is part of an ongoing restoration I am working on for my own collection. You can see how I have recreated the artwork for the cardback over on Toy Polloi Two now: • Repairing Vintage Tran...

This is my new favorite ASMR video.
Nice… seriously, very well done and nice to see each step and how it’s done. This content might not be for everyone, but when it’s done well, it’s like seeing an old friend! 👍❤️🚀
Glad you enjoyed it!
The only bad part about this video is it makes me miss my old collection, and the urge to buy more gets stronger.
Do it 😁
I will watch any video you do Dave. To be honest though I'd rather have you talking music or both your voice is what soothing.
Great job 👍🏻
It's always fascinating to see how these old TFs were constructed. Modern TFs are amazing in their design and engineering but, nevertheless, they tend to leave me cold. I find the old TFs, particularly those from Microman and Diaclone, much more satisfying to hold and fiddle with.
I totally agree!
So weird without your voice and the cool music!!😂 I personally like the voice and music!!!
I’m with Darth; your narrative helps explain the issues with the toy in question. 🚗
I like everything you do. This is no exception. As with your restorations it's always good to try new things. Keep up the great work.
I've done a restoration like this before. it is funny seeing someone else doing the same things I did. Mine was on a Bumblejumper.
Is there a version with commentary?
THE MUSIC ON THIS VIDEO IS T E R R I B L E 😉
Ha ha ha 😅😅😅
The Sound of Silence! But with brushing and unscrewing. Slightly calming I have to admit.
But don't do it again 🤣🤣🤣
Nice easy repair this though.
Slightly bizarre not listening to a play-by-play, but enjoyable none-the-less. Thanks Dave.
Perfect video for me to wind down too after an intense day at work. Loved my BumbleBee as a kid. One of my smallest but most cherished transformers. Love the videos that stoke my nostalgia
Cheers Dave!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Even without the narration, I can still hear Dave's voice as he's pointing out some of the issues. "As you can see, there are bits broken off in a couple of places; here, on the left fender, and here, where the bonnet would be..." 😀
Looks great! I hadn't heard of Hubcap before.
He was the first Transformer I ever bought.
I have to admit, I am in the camp of preferring your voice over and music tbh. I enjoy when you tall through the issues and how you are going to resolve them
As someone who talks to themselves constantly while sculpting or painting, I am amazed that you are able to stay completely silent while doing this :)
WHOA I love this idea!!!
I love it. Taking a jab at those silent resto channels. 😂
Another perfect restoration! But I must admit that the silence is a bit unnerving, Dave. Cheers!😂🤣
Always cool to see you trying something new with your videos!
Nice work on Hubcap!
Also, can we take a moment to appreciate that name?
It's got a nice ring to it.
Good idea, adding the acronym ASMR to your video will probably boost its visibility across the platform.
This format reminds me of the style "Odd Tinkering" use in their videos too. Great job on the restoration!
Interesting idea doing it without saying a word. But I like your usual chatty self.
And I honestly don't remember this transformer and I collected those little ones...
You can't fool me , I can still hear the " Welcome To Toy Polloi " intro inside my head. He He
Miss your audio commentary as it's one of the highlights of your videos, but it will be interesting to see how the TH-cam algorithm reacts to this ASMR approach. You're just missing the black vinyl gloves the other channels always seem to wear haha!
Hey Dave, I think I prefer the 'plugged' versions of your videos, mainly as I like to know what materials you're using and what the rationale is for doing certain things (like sticking the Vaseline on the tires).
Awesome restoration! I’ll be using a few of these methods to fix up a G1 Cliffjumper. Thanks!
I appreciate TH-cam encourages content creators to try trending video styles, I have to say though, I missed your narration, intros etc.
This is like toy repair ASMR... I'm into it.
This might seem a bit of a daft question, but it's kinda been bugging me... Do you rinse the parts in clean water after washing them in the soapy water?
For a G1 aotobot that nobody liked( even other aotobots ) you give Hubcap so much love & care, it's wholsome.😊
He is a childhood favourite of mine. One of very few figures I had.
@@toypolloi I had one as well, but it was because I thought it was bumblebee😞
I'am sure a lot kids were disappointed when they got him as gift. Most databases say he is disliked by the autobots, but he was a fun toy to play with.
Your Hubcap videos are always enjoyable to watch, perhaps you should try getting the modern version by Transformers selects from Hasbro.
Take care.😊
Sadly he was actually a pretty cool character in the comic, but was never introduced in the cartoon. Shows you what happens when you don't have very good writing. Which I think is what killed the G1 series in terms of the cartoon show. There were a bunch of characters they could have used and done something with and they didn't. Him and tailgate we're actually pretty cool in the comic, but most people don't know that.
Obviously you're brilliant either way and you should do whatever makes it easier or more fun to do videos, but I much prefer your cheerful and informative commentary. I have a hard time with these kinds of videos because if I'm not staring with rapt attention I miss too much and wonder why I'm bothering.
GI Joe #21: Silent Interlude
An interesting experiment. Your voice is sorely missed.😊
Yep, after about 10 seconds I stopped the video. Pass.
I've been watching this channel for many years... and it's not due to the silent content of it.
oh tht was odd.... but great work.. and uh... Ya... silence was odd not going to lie
Hi Dave,
personally I much prefer your usual videos with your voice and music. I think silent videos work, when they are very short, but other then that I’m not a fan of them 👍🏼
At first I thought the volume was low, but then I turned it up, and... Oh no! It's ASMR!! 😭
I mean, I'm not against people who love ASMR's, my wife loves those about eating food near the microphone. It's just me and my misophonia. I can't stand ASMR's because of that.
Just a little sugestion, Dave. You could put an "ASMR Warning" disclaimer at the beginning of these videos, you know, like the "Lego destruction" thing.
Thank you, and sorry to bother you. I love your content. 🙏
happy to hear a kitty in the background. I think. :)
I always wonder if people who never wipe the glue off the tip of their cya glue bottles wonder why they can't get their caps off of them, or realize how much useable glue is in them before they throw them away 🤷
Love watching your repairs, but gotta say no voice over or background music is weird.
I'm gonna throw my hat in the ring and say I kinda dig it - but to appease the masses, maybe you could make one with & one without the voice over?
Strange without music and narration. Enjoyable nonetheless.
Just trying something different. Cheers
@toypolloi I'm liking it. Simplicity in production and easy to follow along with the process. Cheers and I'm looking forwards to many more of your vids! 😊😊
Hey Dave
You were so quiet, I heard your cat meow...haha😉
Great repairs.
Happy Weekend to you and MrsTP
Take care of One Another 😊
Loved it 😊
Bumblebee
Bumblebee is a Volkswagen Beetle. Hubcap is a Porsche 924.
For some reason with no narration I feel as if I'm on the naughty step, and the one who broke the toy.....
I appreciated the uncut footage but did miss your voice. Your commentary skipping the cuts and music and this format would be great for me.
It's finally happened!
Toy Polloi Dave has gone all ASMR on us! :)
Love it!
Trying out asmr restorations?
This is wonderful. I do like the voiceovers, just not the music. Maybe try a compromise that includes your narration, but without musical interludes?
Awesome
I will still watch any video you do, Dave, and I can see why you didn't talk on this one. A simple, clean, and swap fix, not much to say, really obvious what you were going. A good idea.
But! There's the rusty toy fixer that makes these silent videos, and it is just boring. Part of the joy watching your fixes is listening to you explaining. I hope you don't make these regular. If you feel there is a need for a silent video, please add music. It just wasn't a Toy Polloi video.
Looking forward to your next video, and I hope my comments didn't affect you.
P.S Giving it some thought may appeal and add more viewers from different countries as on talking to distract to what is going on.
No face expressions?? Asmr needs it😮
Dave, why you no talk??
Well, at least I have learnt today what ASMR means, so that's something. Prefer the usual style though sorry!
Better with you talking, its more personal👍
Yes the ASMR
not a Fan Either
Wondering why this guy is so expensive?
Not a fan of the silent treatment. This repair and restoration video was great, just lacking personality (Dave)!!!
I'm reminded of the Father Ted episode where Dougal turns the microphone sensitivity up to maximum, so much that he can hear a pin drop, then a massive truck drives by. I'll have to watch this with the sound off I think.
Dave had enough of talking and music ?
Mate where is the intro narration and music . I'm not going to bother watching.
Lost your voice? 😅
ASMR is highly uncomfortable for me. Please, please don’t make this a regular video style.
Sensory issues, I take it?
It’s not much a sensory issue for me but I don’t prefer this style of videos. I like people talking and the odd bit of music playing.
I can’t put into words how much I despise this format.
What a bunch of softies that complained! “Oooo I don’t wike ASMR!” “Oooonwheres the intwo?” “Oooooo fwee content of a high quality that I couldn’t make if i was given disneys production team” “ooooo”….
I can see why this ASMR format is popular, but it adds nothing to help educate people about the process. For this reason alone, I don't like it.
To get more views you should have filmed yourself “finding” it at the side of the road or in a muddy field.
Hate this...turning off after 2 minutes.
ASMR no thanks✋🏻
Boring and like watching a mime fix things,no idea why some things had to be fixed 🙃
No talking...instant thumbs down and skip for me. It's very unfortunate because im sure it was another great video.
