The thing about Dutch’s betrayal is that it’s a slow burn. It’s not one huge scene that shatters the player, it’s a buildup of Micah’s influence that eventually boils over in multiple scenes at the end of the game
Red Dead Redemption for sure. John did all that dirty work for nothing, in the end. All it caused was for his son to become the one thing he never wanted him to be. Red Dead Redemption 2, but for Dutch, Javier, and Bill more than Micah. Micah always planned to betray Arthur/The gang, the others didn't.
I agree about RDR1, but John definitely didn't do it all for nothing. Jack exacts retribution upon the man who betrayed his father, and ultimately hangs up his guns and becomes a writer like he'd always told his pa he'd be (this is strongly indicated by the Easter Egg in GTA V).
@@Dagger_323 I disagree - what was all of that work for? All the things he was promised, a life with his family - he didn't get any of it. He did the governments work just to be killed - and it caused Jack to become the one thing John and Abigail hoped he would never be - a gun slinger. If anything, he work just unknowingly ruined the hope he had that Jack's life would be better than his own.
@@sian2706 did you not read what I said? Jack became a writer as he had always aspired to be. It is proven in GTA V’s Easter egg. Jack gunned down Ross and then walked away. He broke the cycle and didn’t succumb to a life of gunslinging. John’s efforts weren’t for nothing. If he had failed in doing what he did in RDR1, Jack and Abigail would have both been killed. John also found redemption through all his efforts in the game, the pinnacle of which was sacrificing himself for his family. He solidified his position as a changed man and not a murdering outlaw anymore. John was betrayed, but his efforts weren’t for nothing. That’s incredibly false.
@@Dagger_323 I did read what you said, and if you were to read and understand mine, you can see I didn't mention about Jack becoming a writer because that wasn't the point. The point was, Jack still became a person John did not want him to be. We don't agree on this, and that is ok.
For me Battlefield , Wolfenstein , Call of Duty , GTA and Mafia have the best betreyal scenes in the gaming history . But other games does have some interesting scenes too . 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
When I first played COD MW2, I was literally mad at Shepard for that betrayal and killing Ghost. I rushed into those caves in the next mission and died so many times lol.
The thing with the clones is that they didn't betray the Jedi - they were programmed to carry out the order from birth. Betrayal requires some conscious act of volition.
They had inhibitor Chips which makes them turn against The Jedi when Order 66 is issued The Clones Chips activates they are powerless against these orders the only way a Clone can disobey Order 66 is to have their Chips taken out they would have a scar on their head from the Chip removal
I know Mafia 3 wasn't a good game, but the first two hours were pretty much some of the best I've ever played. And the betrayal in the prologue was done so well. The whole cutscene, with the music, (paint it black) you could tell from the characters that they knew something wasn't right here and i was still so surprised about what happened. Even though the game was one boring grind, the cutscense and story were just a masterpiece.
Personally I like mafia 3 I love the story and how you slowly take over the city the characters are great and the dlc greatly improves the game but I can see how some found it repetitive. The way I see it is that mafia 3 was like watch dogs people where so disappointed they didn't give it a chance. I wish people weren't so quick to judge and gave things a chance

Yeah right? I just love the game's story mode for this reason. Its like a playable movie if not better.

Forgot Six letting go of Mono in Little Nightmares two and Abby beating Joel's face in with a bat after he saved her lol
And assassin's creed 2 Ezio getting betrayed while trying to free his father
also Adachi persona 4
I love TLoU2 but that wasnt a betrayal actually ... she already had a plan to kill him so ... it was just bad karma for Tommy and Joel (especially for Joel tho)
The demon abby planned it
Actually it was a shotgun to the knee and a golf club to the face :/ That scene is forever burned into my mind.
Thank god you did MW2 one first. If that isn’t on someone list they aren’t a gamer.

Yeah. The fact Sam killed Paulie after all those years and for what, for a bit more money from the Don who has gone into the drug business.

Biggest betrayal in video games. Naughty dog hinting in a trailer that you could play as Joel in last of us 2 but kill him off instead in early game and they never gave you the satisfaction to kill his murderer.
they never showed any joel actual gameplay and if you think it was thematically suitable for Ellie to kill Abby you weren't paying atention to the story since Joel got killed.
@@TheFirebreather the original trailer had joel edited into a conversation with Ellie making it look like he was further in the game.

Isaac Clarke just wanted to do what was right through the whole series, man didn't know it was nothing more than a losing battle.
I feel so bad for Issac; throughout his entire story he is being hit left and right with emotionally and mentally damaging events.
I clicked and I immediately knew Shepherd would be in it.
Man this reminds me of something interesting. Battlefield 3 forces YOU to be the betrayer. It's unlike all the rest of these and I think that's pretty cool considering how forgettable most of that campaign was. Maybe it's not so bad after all.
so does gta v then
No different then Jedi fallen Order when The Clones unwillingly turn against The Jedi because they had inhibitor Chips controlling them

The thing about Dutch’s betrayal is that it’s a slow burn. It’s not one huge scene that shatters the player, it’s a buildup of Micah’s influence that eventually boils over in multiple scenes at the end of the game

Nooo! I'm still about to play the game. 😭😭
Every time I look at the MW2 scene I always say “Ghost could have gotten at least one bullet in Shepard…”
Yeah rdr 1 was brutal, hit me hard as a kid.
