SM lets the girls do basically whatever they want, they have the most leniency when it comes to their activities because they have been in the company so long. It's a pretty well known fact that Taeyeon doesn't perform on music shows anymore because she doesn't want to be associated as an "idol". This release was likely just a gift for the fans especially with their b-side girls and their reality show that was released at this time as well. They don't need the promotion, nor do the girls really seem to care all that much.
And yet.. Snsd is on top 3 brand reputation.. 4 years hiatus, but still In top 5. Amazing

@@avrilmartinez7977 I think he's gonna like it, the songs he hasn't liked so far are the ones I think have aged the worst and Genie is one of the best aging GG songs. It doesn't have much of that 2nd gen electronic sound present in their discography from 2010-14 or the vocal processing from 2015, just some synth that still holds up in a mainly vocal driven song.

@@drewmvp7276 I absolutely don't know. It is quite common that if you are new to listening to kpop and you only know new groups, you will not like the 2nd generation. I don't find anything strange about the sounds of the second generation (in my opinion there is no greater graphic representation of kpop than all those songs) but whatever
@@drewmvp7276 The way people have been writing/mixing/producing music has changed drastically over the years. a lot of songs from the 2000s have a certain sound that is completely different from todays music, for example having really impressive bass and beats werent as important back then and aaron rly likes bass. a lot of old songs kinda sound stuffy from poor mixing and vocal processing. a lot of 2000s edm pop music has this tin can sound as it feels very hollow, so when you are only used to the full sounding and high quality songs of today, most older songs seem dated in that perspective. if you go watch certain super nugu groups (ex: floria - chitty chitty) you can kinda see why someone wouldnt like it right away, it may be catchy but the poor quality is jarring and turns you off from listening again
@@cabbagejuice I understand that. Super unknown groups aren’t what I’m talking about though. Some stuff sounds dated but not all. I don’t think early 2000s music and music now are that drastically different as some people make them out to be. Especially with all these retro throwbacks (specifically pop, rnb, hiphop) these past few years.

Snsd has amazing vocalists, including jessica. So their ballad songs are the best ballad by kpop girlgroup so far (in my opinion) and we all know that taeyeon can sing very well and better at her concert than the recording, and snsd did that too at every concerts, but my fav is beat live at tokyo dome, even jessica just left the group around 2 month before, they can cover her part so so well and keep strong.
